I was just watching some talks by Chris Butcher (Bungie programmer). He said that sometimes programmers have a tendency to overly generalize and it can (sometimes) be a trap due to abstraction mismatch. Seeing that Sand Version 9 is using GRAVITONS made me giggle.
@@TodePond I can't link things in comments. I also forget which talk it was, since I was marathoning the talks. It's either in the Destiny: Six Years in the Making or HandmadeCon 2016 Asset Systems and Scalability. Both are great conversations! > And yeah, it's sometimes not a good idea to take things too far... but it can be quite fun :) I think your channel is a testament to this sentiment. Lol :D
Hey thanks, and yes! It's one of the biggest inspirations for my channel (it pops up in quite a few of my videos). And the graviton is very inspired by the demon horde sort :)
I love the idea of the final one! Creating your laws of physics on a higher, more universally relevant scope 😁 there's a joke somewhere there about No-Man's Sky.....
I just had a nice idea for the water: instead of moving water up, sand compresses water. compressed water spreads its compression around and fills empty space. so like D=double compressed W=normal C=compressed DW => CC C_ => WW etc and then for sand S => _ W S W C
I started this project before I found out about Sandspiel, but since then I've been really inspired by it in lots of different ways. For example, I really liked how the stone element worked and tried to make something similar

Oh.. I clicked for top 9 ways to make Sound.. my bad.
No problem, have a nice day
@@TodePond Came here for top 99 ways to make sand... Now I shall rewatch this 10 more times.
I think that dropping heavy things on a concrete workshop floor is just about the 3rd top way to make sound. I hope this is helpful.

Ohhh interesting! Do you have a link to that? And yeah, it's sometimes not a good idea to take things too far... but it can be quite fun :)

@@andrewallbright Cool! Thank you! I'll keep an eye out for those :D
gravitons, a particle responsible for particle behaviour? That is genius! EPIC
Brilliant! The graviton reminds me of the Moveable Feast Machine's Demon Sort particle. Was that an inspiration?

luv it! Sandspiel is alive even if we are stuck on covid.
When I came here to watch some sand I was not expecting to get Gravitons

3D sandspiel confirmed?
nah, just a thing that max likes
i've played it myself a bunch of times
I wish!
@@TodePond were you inspired by sp?

Oh hey, you were in my comment section
Wow amazing job! Keep uploading please
Thank you! I'm currently in the process of making the next video :)
@@TodePond Cool
OOOOoooooh I LOVE your graviton idea !
Thank you! 🤩
This is so entertaining to watch and I don't know why ^^ I have zero programming knowledge :D
Oh man 3D Sandspiel would be awesome
Yes, I agree!

do you really use powerpoint to edit cus if you do you have some skill
Haha thanks! I use a combination of different tools like Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, (and Powerpoint for simpler things)
Bro low-key invented a new subatomic particle
Not to be that guy, but gravitons aren’t something he made up
