In Mike Okuda's book "Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise" it mentions that after the decision was made to refit the Enterprise it was then completely stripped down to its' primary space frame before being rebuilt and that the Primary hull had been landed in san Franscisco where it was then stripped and rebuilt.

The refit is iconic and gorgeous obviously. And real world reasons notwithstanding, in universe it always bugged me why they would put so much time and resources in what’s basically rebuilding the entire ship. Like if you’re going to be that comprehensive why not just scrap it and earmark one the incoming Excelsiors as the next Enterprise. Especially since the Excelsior keel would’ve been laid down roughly around the same time the Enterprise was being refitted.
My thinking is that the "Connie Refits" were a "bridge" (technology and armaments) between the original Connie class and the Excelsior class, much like the Ambassador class ("Yesterday's Enterprise" on TNG) act as the design "bridge" between the Excelsior class and the Galaxy class starships.
The Connie refit was 2270-72, intended to refit ships that were 30 years old for another 30 years of service - comparable in scope and scale to the SCB 110A refits that several of the Essex-class carriers underwent in the late 1950s that kept them in service through the early 1970s (or the massive SCB 125A refit that turned the axial-deck USS Midway into a baby Forrestal). Excelsior, the next-generation heavy cruiser, was laid down probably NET 2280, since we see her complete and ready for her shakedown cruise in 2285. Remember, there's a whole 12 years between TMP and TWOK!
I like it, however, this looks more like a ship from scratch, and you build the structure first, and the outer hull would be last. Its not like a lobster where the shell is the strength. They'd have taken the skin off the hull, left 80% of the ship, refitted the engines and engineering, etc, and then redone the skin and add ons per the refit to that skeleton.
In TMP, Decker says it’s completely a new ship. Even Kirk couldnt find the way in the ship. So I decided to go deeper. Actually, the structure you see is basically a constitution class’ skeleton. So, you may consider it as a “major refit”
My problem, was the only dialog..had them about to go to FULL WARP...inside SPACEDOCK... That would be the end of the trip..before starting. If it added, "..the instant we clear SPACEDOCK ".. that would work.
@@scottbraun2457 he just said engage warp engines 😅 in TWOK, Kirk says exactly the same thing and they warped to regula one nearly the 4 minutes after that. So you may consider it as a preparation command for another journey
Quality of your animation is fantastic. However the biggest issue I see with all time lapses for building her, even the ones in the movie, they don't actually look like how a ship would be built. If you want some really good reference, have a look at modular ship building.
