Saturday Morning Two Lines Coffee Time - That was very nice of Bobcat Tires to send the Urethane for the cars. It really helped the Carrera Ferrari. Thank you Marty for another Saturday morning video.
Morning Two Lines, Appreciate you Marty!!! and the real world comparison of the two tire types. I'm no expert by any means - that being said. I've observed and it was mentioned in another comment how silicones pick up track residue. So track cleanliness is more vital an issue and more frequent tire cleaning. On the subject of truing - you noted in a response the life sucking time required with silicones. So to expand the comparison between them - that exercise would be of interest. Then I think you mentioned the Bobcat's were a shore 20. Which I believe are more grippy then shore 30, 40 Etc. The flip side of that coin would be tire wear - another issue that could be explored, Finally add in track brand/type - style & length of racing - and availability for any given wheel. So many variables, but each one could an interesting & fun video Marty. I'm ready to watch & learn - and Two lines has multiple video opportunities. All the best regards, Jack
As u know I run 124. Running just urethane for the last 6 months so there is some build up on the track. Removed all magnets last week and you could hardly tell the difference. Cars handle excellent. All I do is drag a swiffer around for a few laps prior to racing. And some tire marks are starting to show on the painted sections of the track. Good vid Marty.
I just got my first set of Bob's tires today and it completely changed the dynamics of my 1/32 Carrera C8R. I picked up well over a second on an 11m track.
BobKat tires rock! Have his urethane on my Scalextric Porsche 911 and my Carrera Mustang GTY. A dramatic improvement in both cars. The Mustang GTY is actually competitive now. Bob is a great guy, and he goes out of his way to make his customers happy. I will be purchasing more slot car tires from him in the near future.
I've had good luck with Bobkat tires on a couple of problematic cars. GTY and the red pig Mercedes. Really good urethane tires! Thanks for the video Marty
Great content with sharing the info. Thats awesome about the Ferrari. I’m guessing if someone ran strictly those tires on their track they would show an even better comparison. Getting that urethane built up would probably be a game changer
Thanks for doing this comparison. I Race silicone and even though urethane is constantly on my mind, seeing the little difference it makes in the times is still not enough for me to switch out. That 488 was my first car before I even had track. The performance was not What I expected. I think the main solution to running that model is to add some weight in the back end. The stock magnets are not enough. IMO. Either way, great video. 😊
Thanks for the review and test, Marty! I have more than a few cars that probably need new tires after sitting for some years. I run rubber/urethane and I think Bobcat may be a solid option. Pretty sure I saw them last Fall at the Cleveland slot car show - I know they'll be there again next month.
Happy Saturday, and good look at the brand of tires. Makes for more options. thanks for sharing. You should not have to put a disclaimer lol...this is good too see and hear others opinions as to different types of items. THE gty do need a better grade of tires. Thinking I will be checking into that brand. Thanks for taking the time...
I have BobKat's on several of my cars and am more than pleased with how they work on my track. Wait until you see the difference they make with the Carrera Mustang...
Whatbis the shore on the bobcatsbu ran the 917 on shes a bit tail happy not surenif they are two firm or if u could use a softer compound u could also use thenstock tires to make your own even softer if they aren't available
Hi Marty in that video where you extended the digital controllers cable what type of cable did you buy? I have tried a few different types but I can't find a phone cable with 5 wires. All the stuff I find has 4 and that doesn't work properly. I have the TrueSpeed controlers

What is your opinion of Quick Slixx verses Super tires? I have a 2 lane.100 ft. Carrera track and silicone seem to be the best. I just bought 20 pairs of Quick slices and got beat by super tires. Do you notice a difference?
Mike, I love Super Tires. They have a great relationship with our club. It is the fast tire on the track. I have had really good luck with Quick Slicks.. but tend to pick up a tenth with the Super Tires..
As you have been running sillies all the time they tend to "polish" the Carrera track. To use PU AFTER sillies is not fair for the PU if you want a comparison. Plus the Ferrari had still the magnet in?!
So the Ferrari had stick tires.. it is one of my few remaining magnet cars.. so I was not really trying to compare it to anything but the stock tires and now the car is a joy to drive.. I realize that my comparison is not completely fair but I am really impressed with the Bobkat urethanes. They work really well on a track that set up for silicones. I did put a disclaimer in the video that it probably wasn’t fair.. 😂 but they tires were only a few tenths off, I call that a win!
Honestly a more representative test would have been a tuned car, then swapping tires. But urethane needs to lay down track grip (rubber in the track) to be a fair test to sillies. Plus the tires should be trued and glued. Also, FWIW PROPER new urethane like Paul Gage’s XPG will be similar with really sticky grip straight away. Personally, as a long time basement racer in an unfinished (dusty area), urethanes saved me from leaving the hobby after starting with silicones. We run on a wood track and they work well in less than pristine track conditions but with urethane build up, track grip is immense….By the way, I’ve found (clear) gorilla glue works great for gluing with a small touch of water to activate. And for what it’s worth, we started with lower shore urethanes but wore down too fast. We’ve settled on (PGT) 40 shore for blend of speed and long term durability, especially if you polish / wet sand between race days.
Thanks for the great glueing tip! I know it wasn’t a perfect test, but I have to say I was impressed with the performance. My track is a silicone track because we practice for the club that runs silicones. Cleaning the track is a bit of an issue.. maybe one day we will make the switch to urethane. Bob was great to send me some to try. Thanks for the comment!
You can never have enough options, thank you for evaluating them and giving your honest opinion!
Darrell, if I make it down to Jorge’s track.. I will be running Bobkats on my cars, because Jorge has switched to urethanes on his tracks.
Saturday Morning Two Lines Coffee Time - That was very nice of Bobcat Tires to send the Urethane for the cars. It really helped the Carrera Ferrari. Thank you Marty for another Saturday morning video.
The Ferrari went from not drivable.. even as a magnet car.. to a legitimate driver.. now to do a little more tuning on it.

Greg, good to know that they get better with build up. Good work!
My Mustang GTY was so-so with factory tires, I put urethane on it an wow, what a difference. I started winning races.
I have no doubt the will wake up our GTY!!

I've got two 488s with Paul Gage on front and back and slot Invasion guide and they are still a handful. Maybe Bobcat tires are answer.
Les, I am impressed with the grip level from the BobKat’s.. worth a look.
Great news that we have another choice
Always great to have choices

How would you rate the Bobkat urethanes to Paul Gage urethanes?
I think that they are very similar, I felt like the 20A BobKat uses grips a little better because it is softer..
