Was blessed to be able to check off a major bucket list item and see Mazzy Star live in 2018 (Ventura, California). Her voice was still completely ethereal in her 50s as it was in this video. Sad we will never see/hear them play live again. R.I.P, David. (And thank God for UA-cam and the ability to experience all these past performances.)

You have one time in your life when you get to hear Mazzy Star for the 1st time. That's when you know that God sends angels to earth to whisper in your ear...A whisper that will enrapture your soul and never let it go. That happened to me when I saw this performance on MTV's 120 Minutes (I think it was 1993 or 1994). Fell in love with Hope Sandoval that night and she's been in my dreams ever since. So terribly sad to hear the news of David Roback passing away a few months ago. For me, there is no Mazzy Star without him.
I bet mazzy Star where they were on tour for their so tonight that I might see him it was April 1st 1994 downtown Denver Colorado they did it in store where they did five acoustic songs at wax tracks record store which is still there by the way and I got to meet the entire band they signed both of my CDs the first time she hangs brightly in the second so tonight that I might see and now they're all dead except for Hope Sandoval David wrote back to guitar player Keith Mitchell the drummer William Cooper the violin piano player have all passed away they will never be another mazzy Star since it was basically hope Sandoval and David Roback. May they all rest in peace.
I was like the only one listening to Mazzy Star in the 90s. None of my friends had ever heard of them.... I am glad they finally get the credits they ought to. And that music hasn't aged ...
To this day, they remain the only truly "life changing" band I ever came across. A testament to the power of music in our existence. And proof that a beautiful voice beats olympic guitar technique every time.
My depression has brought me Here too, Crazy how this brings us all together at these times of being in need of just a single true friend, Lifes so tough right at this time of my life. Thank you Mazzy Star.
This the arguably the best live-footage of the band, beautifully & respectfully filmed. Without a distracting live audience to inhibit the musicians, the songs here are allowed to be presented in full blossom.
Very few bands can pull this off where the live version sounds better and more immaculate than the recorded album versions!! The rendering of Blue Light was sublime, from the keyboard and very note plucked by David, to Ms. Sandoval’s haunting incomparable voice!! 🤤🤤🤤

Rom Augustine maybe you’ll still catch one of the rare opportunities to see Mazzy Star perform live. I checked off a Bucket List item when I got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see them perform in Ventura, California a year or two ago. Was terrific.
Greg Engels with respect, I’d caution you against “falling in love” or being “infatuated” with an artist or someone you don’t know (and won’t know). No good can possibly come of that; but much distraction and even harm to relationships in the real world certainly can (not to mention expense). It’s one thing for a teenage girl to have a picture of Bieber on her wall; but it’s quite a different matter for adults. (There was a Netflix video on obsessed fans of Rick Springfield of all people, and it was depressing. Grown women with families confessing their “love” and obsession over someone they’ll never know, while their husbands looked like depressed cuckolds and they put the family in debt to follow him around the world. Quite certifiable.) I’m sure others will tell me to buzz off (in less polite terms, lol), but I thought I’d throw this out there in case you were serious about the love stuff and following her around the world, rather than just hyperbole. Forgive me in advance for the unsolicited advice, and of course ignore it and think me a wet blanket if you wish, but I’m hoping that you find your love in the real world with someone you can actually get to know deeply (lovely warts and all), rather than being infatuated with an *idea* of what HS is like. (And TBH, while I think she has the voice of an angel, if you’ve ever seen her run off stage in the middle of a concert, or hush and shush her fans for so much as vocalizing their excitement or approval, you’d get the sense that while she’s an amazing lyricist and singer, you’d need the patience of Job to deal with her (euphemism alert) *eccentricities* .) Cheers and good luck, mate.
Also my all time favorite version of "Into Dust" which is now my favorite song. Of course "Ghost Highway" was one of their best songs too. I love the songs they did in the blue light for MTV which this video is a portion of.

"Into Dust"
Still falling
Breathless and on again
Inside today
Beside me today
Around, broken in two
Till your eyes shed
Into dust
Like two strangers
Turning into dust
Till my hand shook
With the way I fear
I could possibly be fading
Or have something more to gain
I could feel myself growing colder
I could feel myself under your fate
Under your fate
It was you
Breathless and tall
I could feel my eyes turning into dust
And two strangers
Turning into dust
Turning into dust
I am totally obsessed over this song, and of all the UA-cam videos of it I like this one the best.
