      'the sandinavian isn''t easy to learn" incredibly simple setup with very little theory, very solid and leads to equal middlegame .... "the sicilian dragon is easy" proceeds to recommend 1000s one of the most sharp, tactical and theoretical openings with black, usually involves complex ideas like exchange sacrifices to match white's terrifying pawn storm king side pawn storms. entertaining yea, but informative, meh.

    • @LeBingeDoctor
      @LeBingeDoctor 9 місяців тому +4

      @@Goatz99 I think the hyper-accelerated Dragon (shown here) is one of the less complicated variations of The Sicilian, the plan is clear whatever White choose. For the Scandinavian, I always thought it's much complex than it appears because it's a somewhat reckless overture and there's danger being too wayward, especially for beginners-intermediate players.
      It's also, with all due respect to ChessPage1, one of the reasons I don't like the Caro-Kann because Accelerated Panov attack transposes easily into the Scandinavian and it's not easy for Black.

      @@americandissident9062yes, people often have a wrong impression on this. Studying an opening means understanding the ideas of the opening and being able to adapt when an opponent makes a different out of book move and punish them for it.
      So yes, play a pricipled opening where you fight for the center and develop, aka doing the same stuff every game by using a small system.

      @@samdewilde343 Ok, that’s what I’ve had an issue with. I make my first move, whether it’s black or white, trying to us a specific “opening”, and then the opponent on their second or third move does something that isn’t “book”, and now I’m like “how the heck do I continue this specific opening?” and that feels like the start to my mid-game because my opening is messed up now.

    Caro kann is nuts. I knew nothing about it other than c6,d5 and gave it a shot. First game i won a clean knight in 9 moves and checkmated 3 moves later. Next game i encountered a new variation and played differently. Won after 32 moves with 92% accuracy. Its so straight forward and fun to play. it brought me from 900 to 1000.
