    she is really wonderful- her singing is- her gestures...so so- but she is so pretty! and young, as young as Violetta was, and this is a big plus

      Violetta may have been in her early 20s in Piave's libretto and Lisette, even when she's in very good shape and looks younger, is in her late 30s here, yet she's a very good actress to make believe you are watching Violetta, Lucia or Manon to name some examples.

      @@alejandrotm sorry for not exposing my thought too well: I just wanted to say that Lisette, differently from other famous collegues, does look young as the charecter should- I am Italian, so try hard with the English language, alas not always successfully!

    Absolutely love her; in this instance however I do feel Angela Gheorgiu owns this piece. The sheer power in her low and middle registers is key for this part. Lisette is still outstanding in her way and she excels in Sempre Libera

      @onigbajamo 3 роки тому

      Sheer power though 😐😕

      I agree, however there is no better and more gripping Amami Alfredo as from Tiziana Fabricini, she is incredible in how her body follows the music, you can feel all of the raw separation angst and irrational love in her voice.

    • @mugrad25
      @mugrad25 Рік тому

      I wouldnt say sheer power but Angela was more dramatically convincing...when she goes into that trance and walks with her arms out.
      Lisette sounds identical to gheorghiu at times

      I like Gheorghiu's voice, but she had major audibility issues even in her prime years.
      This, for me, is the gold standard in this opera: ua-cam.com/video/yA3z8i-UBlg/v-deo.html.

    I love this performance. She is superb. It's worth noticing how she follows the dark nuances like Callas...and that is why I adore her interpretation.

    I’m a big fan of her singing, but I would be curious to hear how this comes off live in the house. This is one of the heavier moments in terms of orchestration, and her voice is light. I can envision the need to reign in the orchestra a bit.
    That said, of course, it is perfectly acceptable for not-excessively-light lyric coloraturas to do Traviata. For instance, Moffo, Sills, perhaps Scotto counts too. To one of the comments, Lisette is NOT a soubrette.

      @eboli7146 3 роки тому +1

      I have heard her once in Lucia di Lammermoor. It’s definitely a light voice, albeit well produced. I’d be curious to see this live as well- how well the conductor manages with the orchestra is a big factor too as you’ve mentioned, even big voices can get drowned out if the orchestra isn’t managed well.

      I dare you to find a 19-20 year old soprano that can sing this role, it needs certain vocal maturity. Perhaps Gilda for a young singer, but Violetta is not that easy

      @Jeff Newtown I studied no music but still. At this point everyone on this planet knows that singing with so much neck muscle strain/tension and purposely raising larynx destroys you. Look at her now. 5 years after her debut in the Met, she is vocally dead.

    • @marieantoinette3857
      @marieantoinette3857 3 роки тому +3

      @Jeff Newtown She wont be singing much longer. I give her max. 6-8 months, but i think she will be gone quicker.
      Her train already left.
      So good riddance to bad rubbish( her singing ).

    • @marieantoinette3857
      @marieantoinette3857 3 роки тому +3

      @Jeff Newtown I know much you dont. This is not the first right outcome of a destroyd voice that i predicted. But hers was the quickest.
      But since you dont believe me i say, let us wait a little bit, when she will be completly destroyed. You can hear that already in every Mozart of hers that she ever sung. Just cracs and strain.
      So while you wait, i wish you a happy new year, stay safe, and if you do intend to click me after her annihilation, you are most welcome! Love!

    One of the most important moments in the entire operatic literature is ruined by the STUPID stage director's keeping Alfredo so far away from Violetta in her greatest despair! If Alfredo is THAT preoccupied with his father's letter, he isn't worthy of her love at all - which is presumably what the director is trying to bring across - but I doubt very much that this was Verdi's intention! ABSOLUTE LY IMPOSSIBLE!

      The whole production was socially distanced due to COVID-19. See the grid on the stage? That was put there to keep the actors apart. Yes it was awkward but it’s better than nothing.
