From dad or God or the universe. We stopped talking and continued to watch our TV show and all sudden a scene comes on of a man getting a sign from the universe. He runs back to his family and emotionally yells out that he now knows signs are real.
tbh rebirth's scene just felt weightless (to me) compared to this bit in the og game (saying this as someone who finished og 3 days ago for the first time)
Because the entire remake trilogy is weightless. Just a bunch of fanservice, butchered cutscenes and character arcs, and too many annoying comic relief moments. Sephiroth at first wanted to reunify Jenova’s cells but now he wants to reunify every possible timeline?
Everyone has their own thoughts on the Remakes and Aerith’s death is definitely one of those moments. In terms of story, Cloud believes that he saved Aerith and that she’s alive, which is why Aerith “wakes up”. In actuality, she died like how it plays it in the original with all the Party members knowing this, in the last scene of Rebirth, Tifa and Yuffi are clearly mourning her. Here’s the thing though, Aerith may be dead but here spiritual self is still alive, proof of this being when she strokes Red and he says “Aerith” so she has some physical presence, and her spirit seemingly being able to directly talk to Cloud. Tbh it’s still too early to tell, my guess is that the full scene will be shown at the beginning of the 3rd game whenever that comes out.
I expect this scene will be recreated more faithfully in part 3 after Cloud gets his shit together and comes to terms with both his false past and Aerith’s death
They’re not going to change that. They’ve already shown A very unnecessary spoiler of it when cloud asked her about her materia in the remake. That same little orb of materia is seen falling into the water just as I did here. The few things they have changed have actually just been annoying things that often spoil what’s going to happen. They felt the need to remind everybody that Aerith is going to die Multiple times in the first part of the remake. It’s annoying but at least it’s not as egregious as those Spectre things that make her look like she’s tripping balls to everyone that can’t see them. Pointless add onto the plot honestly but at least they didn’t turn Corneo into an even more twisted piece of crap like Capcom’s resident evil 2 remake did to chief irons. Went from a murdering psychopath to a pedophile apparently. So tired of pointless edits to backstory
I can't wait to see Cody Christian's performance when we get to this part in the remake, the voice acting for Cloud's dialogue will only make this scene even more painful. I can already imagine an emotional orchestral mix of Aerith's theme while fighting Jenova-Life.
I got spoiled about her death years ago, heck i didnt even know what Final Fantasy as a franchise was and i still knew someone named Aeris died in oneof the FF games ...and yet when i finally tried this game for the first time i actually shed a tear...
Rebirth can never top the visual storytelling with this one. Its more impactful. Rebirth's execution was this: Cloud THOUGHT he saved Aerith but his mind was completely messed up. His head wasn't in the right place due to all the whispers. Sephiroth still stabbed Aerith. In other words, rebirth kept the original scene. Visually, we're seeing Cloud's point of view where his mind is screwed up.
The concept was great but there were several better ways to direct it. Keep the death scene the same, they managed to make her death surprising again due to how everyone expected her to survive this time and then keep the JENOVA boss fight just afther it since It was like that on OG too, but keep her theme playing during the WHOLE fight, afther that instead of coming up with the Zack multiverse bs, go back to the tragedy, we would be seeing Cloud it would focus on his face looking like a thousand yard stare (also knew as PTSD stare) then it would show the other characters approaching her body, Yuffie would be crying on Vincent while he tries to maintain himself stoic, Tifa is breaking down and Barret tries to calm her down, Cid is looking at the sky and Cait Sith is unable to lighten the mood, Cloud approaches her body still with his PTSD stare, he starts to carry her body towards the lake (Aerith's theme is still playing but on a sadder note than the fight version), as he starts to lay down her body on water, Aerith would open her eyes and she would say something, we'd see all from Cloud's view and it would look like she's alive (he wouldn't throw her body down the water or at least we wouldn't see that happening since we'd be seeing this on Cloud's dissociation POV) Then keep the ending the same, everyone is acting like she's dead, but Cloud sees as if she's alive. We wouldn't have a spectacular epic battle nor the Marvel fanservice time, but we'd get a heartbreaking ending and it would be way more clear and simple to understand that Cloud is having a dissociative episode, which for those who have played the original game, people would link this to what will happen on Part 3. You kept the same thing they did while also not completely ruining the scene with a 1 hour long fight.
Amazing better then rebirth this had so much more emotion with no speech and just music you couldn’t never replace this death even with the remakes on next gen it’s impossible
@@chickenheelnakano I'm one of the people hoping aerith will live but reckon she'll still "die" (play her role from within the life stream with zack) but I can't wait for this scene so all the "they're changing everything" people get proven wrong
When I saw the Rebirth trailer from the video game awards, the last scene on that trailer was a hint that she will be killed off. And I think the Rebirth version is going to be more dark, sad and especially heartbreaking. I get that the remake changed some things like adding some side missions and tingering the main story just a bit like they did on the part where Cloud dressing up like a woman, but they want to keep the story almost like it was on the original. And if they did change the story from the original, it would be very disrespectful from the original.
If I don’t see Aerith be put in the water for her burial, and showing her going underwater and seeing her Materia that will save the planet into the water in the remake part 2 or 3 I’m gonna be super disappointed.
That extremely disappointing really. I heard a lot of fans who played the original are extremely upset and furious over how they handled Aerith death. I don’t blame them. I would like to see in the remake of part 2 is where (I heard they did Seporiah coming down and stabbed her but they didn’t shown her stabbed her), which that made me upset. But I would like to see her material coming out of her bow when she got stabbed and it bouncing or something and it went into the water and seeing Cloud and the gang puts her in the water and seeing her going underwater and to her burial place. To me seeing Aerith getting stabbed, her materia coming out of her bow and her theme song kicks in and it bounce till it in the water, seeing her in the water and Cloud saying his final goodbyes till he let her go and we see her going underwater to her burial place is the most saddest thing I ever watched, that made me cry. I seen the original with my cousin when he was playing it. I was young when he played it. Regardless I will still play it even though it gonna upset me seeing those things I want to see in the remake wasn’t in it. I just hope part 3 will have the things I want and the fans want. If not then, they totally ruined Aerith death.
@Gargadonz you clearly weren't paying attention there's moments in rebirth where cloud is speaking the words from the og and he gets a vision of burying aerith in ff7 remake. They're saving the full death scene for when he gets his full memories back in the lifesream
Wrong. The scene needs more weirdos talking about dumbapples and mobile game tie-in characters interrupting the scene. There needs to be a 40 minute dungeon leading up to the altar Aerith is at. Johnny also somehow ends up in the City of the Ancients, he needs Cloud’s help to find his lost wallet. Cloud is hesitant, but a hallucination of Sephiroth appears telling him, “Find Johnny’s wallet, Cloud. A *reunion* between a man and his money.”
Battle "Deaths" are considered Knocked Out. Phoenix Downs only make the characters regain consciousness from battles (i.e. waking them up) As you have observed, if the party go to inns the entire party's HP and MP will be fully restored including the ones with 0 HP and/or MP
I'm 33, playing this game for the first time. No video game ever made me cry this way, it still hurts and no one would understand why...I understand now.
I loved the direction they took with this scene on Rebirth and I'm very excited to see what they have in store for us, but I must admit, this is still such a heartbreaking scene. I can't not cry when watching this. The Rebirth scene doesn't give you time to process what's happening (and that's what they intended), and it ends up being "less sad" this way. still cried like a baby when her theme started playing during jenova lifeclinger tho
I just recently play this game and finally know Final Fantasy meme for this scene... It just so heartbreaking. 😭 She deserves a happy ending. :) Man, my heart can't take it when her theme playing. 😭😭
Back in the day where you almost couldn't find a spoiler even if you tried. If this was released today it would be ruined in about 10 minutes upon release.
Honestly the way rebirth did this death was brilliant! They build up this whole changing fate to make fans guessing if she would live, we see cloud beat the whispers leaving us to believe he had beaten fate, but it turned out he didn’t. I think it wasn’t as emotional because we had so much deaths already happens with the flashback-just so much happening in general; I think part 3 is where we will cry a lot once cloud figures out she really died.
I knew, the moment Cloud blocked Sephiroth's sword that she was dead, also knowing how the OG handles this scene, I couldn't really have much fun the moment we go to the gold saucer to get the keystone from Dio, the moments were still epic and I loved every moment of it, but I knew this was coming really soon. Granted, Temple of the Ancients was way too long, but I did Clouds tone shift from actually coming to his own person to 500% focused on getting the black materia and now unnatural it was, but the temple of the ancients was probably the weakest part imo, just too long for my tastes, especially if you are like me and want to get every treasure, so you look at every corner, constantly spin the rooms around and slow climb everything.
@@fullerosenrico8649technically sephiroth wants to take over all concurrent timelines ones that have been created everytime the whispers have been defied in the remake basically theyre are infinite worlds of ff7 and aerith is alive in one of them hence why we didnt see her burial we are convinced as Cloud she is still alive somewhere and he now lives in all worlds as pretty much everything broke at the end its pretty much clouds perceptions made into the players.
A separate sequel entity of sorts not a full on remake of the original. This is continuing the story after the original why else would aerith basically give away the plot of part 3 at the end if something else isnt going to happen entirely like it did in rebirth its not butchered its just not understood if you havent played the compilation
Hubris: when you have one of the most if not the most memorable scene in a video game ever and thinking you're so amazing that you can make it better...
Where's her heartbeat? In my original copy of FFVII, her heartbeat is heard in this cut scene and then dissipates in the time it takes for her Holy Materia to hit the ground for the first time.
Unfortunately, I agree with you It's not even nostalgia, it's the sudden cut and Aerith open her eyes(I know it's to explained Cloud mental state but.......come on, it ruined the emotional impact), as well "My fingers is tingling. My mouth is dry! My eyes are burning!" got remove, this hurt me the most
Rebirth was great game overall but the ending was bad. Having a 10 stage boss fight which was boring and dragged out. Then they try to confuse us where one minute we think Aerith is alive then the next minute you would think she's dead. Original handled Aeriths death way better.
I feel like this scene was more simple and brutal compared with the Rebirth version. In the Remake you don't get a cleae picture of what happened, so you have mixed feelings leaving to different interpretations.
The thought of having to relive this in the new remake in full PS5 HD is making my heart race. I’m excited for rebirth but I don’t know how to handle this. I don’t know if I’ll finish the game honestly. Leave it at 99% 😅

It's kinda funny, cuz I prefer the execution of this scene in the original game more than in Rebirth, it feels more impactful, however, I prefer the build-up and the writing in Rebirth's scene much more. Him being so traumatized by her death in Rebirth, to the point where he basically can't accept the fact that she died and he's still seeing her in his head, makes her death so much more impactful to him specifically.

It isnt weightless. Its Cloud blockiert the truth out.
@@nedrostram2360 I disagree. I think they're really well done
I cannot express how superior this is in every way to the remakes.......
...she better make it this time.
Of everyone in FF7, good and bad, she was the one who deserved a happy ending. I hope she gets it this time.
She did, she's with Zack in the life stream. I think her only unhappiness she has is seeing Cloud hurt for her.

I can already imagine an emotional orchestral mix of Aerith's theme while fighting Jenova-Life.

i came here after finishing Rebirth. Man so sad 😢😢❤ RIP Aerith you are the Flower now in Clouds heart
She’s in the friend zone though.
will always be the best.
Yup. In the Rebirth, everyone except Cloud still shown crying after that battle. Like, if she didn't die why then?
The concept was great but there were several better ways to direct it.
Keep the death scene the same, they managed to make her death surprising again due to how everyone expected her to survive this time and then keep the JENOVA boss fight just afther it since It was like that on OG too, but keep her theme playing during the WHOLE fight, afther that instead of coming up with the Zack multiverse bs, go back to the tragedy, we would be seeing Cloud it would focus on his face looking like a thousand yard stare (also knew as PTSD stare) then it would show the other characters approaching her body, Yuffie would be crying on Vincent while he tries to maintain himself stoic, Tifa is breaking down and Barret tries to calm her down, Cid is looking at the sky and Cait Sith is unable to lighten the mood, Cloud approaches her body still with his PTSD stare, he starts to carry her body towards the lake (Aerith's theme is still playing but on a sadder note than the fight version), as he starts to lay down her body on water, Aerith would open her eyes and she would say something, we'd see all from Cloud's view and it would look like she's alive (he wouldn't throw her body down the water or at least we wouldn't see that happening since we'd be seeing this on Cloud's dissociation POV)
Then keep the ending the same, everyone is acting like she's dead, but Cloud sees as if she's alive.

Yeah your gonna be disappointed

As strong as fate may be, Sephiroth is stronger

Rebirth was great game overall but the ending was bad. Having a 10 stage boss fight which was boring and dragged out. Then they try to confuse us where one minute we think Aerith is alive then the next minute you would think she's dead. Original handled Aeriths death way better.
This scene wrecked a 12 year-old me. I spent the rest of the game like “She’s not really dead, right? We’re going to resurrect her at the end. Right?”

I feel like the original game never managed to portray Cloud's mental breakdown properly after she passed away, his character still remains the same till the end of the game. Him being so traumatized by her death in Rebirth, to the point where he basically can't accept the fact that she died and he's still seeing her in his head, makes her death so much more impactful to him specifically. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel as impactful to the player, but it does nake the story better overall.
