      Nice! Congratulations! I hope I get as lucky as you: I have a chinese mini-pc (and no circuit drawing) that won't boot, but I can see 19V and 5V at multiple areas of the board. There's one mosfet very close to the power-plug that gets 17V at the gate (there's either a resistor or diode right in front of it that drops the V from 19V to 17V), but I see no voltage on the drain or source. The mosfet itself is opening up with the current on the gate, so that itself seems fine. There seems to be a short to ground somewhere behind that mosfet. I just ordered a bench power supply (discounted from Ali for 11.11) and some more gear and a friend has a thermal camera on his phone, so he said he'd let me use it if needed, to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself as well.
      Which thermal camera did you get and are you happy with it?

    SORIN, that fnirsi meter has a hidden menu where you can disable to backlight dimming option, and also disable the start loading screen. just hold one button ( i dunno which one for that version) then plug it in. thats it.
    also the white writing on the motherboard usually indicates to diodes as Dxxxx and for trasistors Qxxxx, and i believe for mosfets PQxxxx . i could be wrong

    The Conexant CX11852 is used often used for audio in lenovo thinkpads, and that transistor looks like it was also connected to the audio port, so probably a shitty amplifier was used? or somehow it got 48v from a phantom PSU used for a heavy mic/ or a shitty amplifier?

    U1W SOT-23 is BCX19, a small signal NPN transistor.
    Wonder what could be the reason to put a transistor there when the circuit designer actually called for a diode.

    I once had an E480 - it had the most interesting and weird fault of any laptop I've ever seen.
    It used more power when OFF (properly fully off) than when on - the machine was noticeably hot (and it would drain the battery obv)
    I have absolutely no idea what was going-on - it was replaced under warranty!

    csn somebody explain logicaly wht he concluded that:
    1. PU201 has 2 power outputs
    2. second output from PU202 is exactly on this capacitor
    and why when he tested alll capacitors around audio chip was fine, but chip is still shorted?

    • @igiigiint
      @igiigiint 2 дні тому +1

      probably he knows that ic and where is the output. audio chip is just broken, it does not need to have a broken capacitor around.

    So the only option of soldering a Chip or desoldering a chip is by Hot air ? is it not possible to solder those chip with Soldering Iron ?

    • @geophilus.electricus
      @geophilus.electricus 2 дні тому +1

      Theoretically it is possible, but its complicated. I see two main problems: heat transfer and mechanical pressure. If you have big enough iron, and somehow ensure good thermal contact (blob of solder, some silicon pad maybe) then desoldering should be easy. But soldering... Proper soldering demands that chip floats on solder. If you apply any pressure from above then solder gets squeezed out, shorts and bad connections can ruin your day. I use cheapest (regulated!) air gun that i could find from china, it cost certainly under 20$. Made a big difference.

    • @EmilChristensenHeaton
      @EmilChristensenHeaton 2 дні тому

      @@geophilus.electricus it's just scares me to use a Hot air station for very small PCB's
      cause when you need to see a component through microscope it means it's very little compare to the hot air which is pretty large, I guess it's a lot of practice without melting other components around it.
      Can you link me the Air Gun you use ?
