you make a bunch of people happy,... customers , subscribers , ..... etc
because of Sorin ive been inspired to the next level about electronics,i bought thermal camera the cheap one and smps bench power supply, luckily i been able to repair my orange pi shorted main power rail due to dodgy capacitor
Nice! Good luck with your jobs. I also have a lot to thank Sorin for.
Super nice!! Congrats ❤
Nice! Congratulations! I hope I get as lucky as you: I have a chinese mini-pc (and no circuit drawing) that won't boot, but I can see 19V and 5V at multiple areas of the board. There's one mosfet very close to the power-plug that gets 17V at the gate (there's either a resistor or diode right in front of it that drops the V from 19V to 17V), but I see no voltage on the drain or source. The mosfet itself is opening up with the current on the gate, so that itself seems fine. There seems to be a short to ground somewhere behind that mosfet. I just ordered a bench power supply (discounted from Ali for 11.11) and some more gear and a friend has a thermal camera on his phone, so he said he'd let me use it if needed, to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself as well.
Which thermal camera did you get and are you happy with it?
Sorin, great job at diagnostic repair. Keep up the great videos.
Paul, USA!!!
Love you, Sorin! Thanks!
As always great videos thanks for sharing your knowledge love you sense of humor don't ever change for no one...
Nice video Mr Sorin. Thanks
SORIN, that fnirsi meter has a hidden menu where you can disable to backlight dimming option, and also disable the start loading screen. just hold one button ( i dunno which one for that version) then plug it in. thats it.
also the white writing on the motherboard usually indicates to diodes as Dxxxx and for trasistors Qxxxx, and i believe for mosfets PQxxxx . i could be wrong
@@rouuuk depends on the manufacturer, transistors can be T, FETs Q,...
@BassheadMusicConnoisseur i know its not a standard but ive these are the most common. 👌 especially in laptops
Sorin replaces conexant with Senary audio.
The duck analogy made me laugh 😂😂
Hey Sorin, sorry if this was asked before - will you ever do smartphone repairs again? Thanks for the content
The Conexant CX11852 is used often used for audio in lenovo thinkpads, and that transistor looks like it was also connected to the audio port, so probably a shitty amplifier was used? or somehow it got 48v from a phantom PSU used for a heavy mic/ or a shitty amplifier?
I’ve had a WiFi card thingy on new ATX boards. Gigabyte fail and be shorted. But they are removable. Like a little upright container. On the I/o
*Great video like always nad nice the scratch on the board ;p*
Good job mate 👏
U1W SOT-23 is BCX19, a small signal NPN transistor.
Wonder what could be the reason to put a transistor there when the circuit designer actually called for a diode.
What a saying "It`s square and black, Looks like a duck, Sounds like a duck" it`s a SMD Chip `So True`
I once had an E480 - it had the most interesting and weird fault of any laptop I've ever seen.
It used more power when OFF (properly fully off) than when on - the machine was noticeably hot (and it would drain the battery obv)
I have absolutely no idea what was going-on - it was replaced under warranty!
Almost Duck pizza toppings🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕great job.
Your donor board only has 1 RAM slot and the Wifi card is in a different spot so not the same same ;-)
Cx sounds like contexant and that company makes audio chips
Yes, indeed! I don't know why sorin missed on that old company that made modems too!🤔
How do you make holy water
you boil the hell out of it...
Excellent video ❤🎉
audio IC was a major chronic issue for the iPhone 7
Never saw a laptop with conexant audio, I usually see very cheap usb dac using it, noisy audio and not much cheaper than realtek which is generally fine.
Hi Sorin, good work.. ther's alway first time in any case... the mobo are not the same version.. the donor as only one RAM socket... i will be gratiful to you if replay to my consult help request sent in e-mail in any case positive or negative, i hope you don't find it offensive , rather it wants to be a recognition for everything I'm learning from you... hoping to recive your replay best regards bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
Hi, for support please check our discord server, thank you
Not even the Thinkpads are safe now. My Acer Nitro 5 just died (no power on no charge) and I hope the technician can repair it soon. Just sucks how poorly made the laptops seem to be nowadays.
Goodeve sorin..
problem very known in MacBook's where bad audio will break the laptop.
The real master in video is the Thermal camera. :)
Sorin replaces a chip with a duck.
how do you have so many spare boards? don't you give them back to customers?
csn somebody explain logicaly wht he concluded that:
1. PU201 has 2 power outputs
2. second output from PU202 is exactly on this capacitor
and why when he tested alll capacitors around audio chip was fine, but chip is still shorted?
probably he knows that ic and where is the output. audio chip is just broken, it does not need to have a broken capacitor around.
it was not the same board. check again. the chip is made by Conexant
15:50 Is that flux or rosin?
Nice! 😎
We need sound or not is the question
Rare Video footage from 2016 how Apple engineers ended ditching audio jack.
So the only option of soldering a Chip or desoldering a chip is by Hot air ? is it not possible to solder those chip with Soldering Iron ?
Theoretically it is possible, but its complicated. I see two main problems: heat transfer and mechanical pressure. If you have big enough iron, and somehow ensure good thermal contact (blob of solder, some silicon pad maybe) then desoldering should be easy. But soldering... Proper soldering demands that chip floats on solder. If you apply any pressure from above then solder gets squeezed out, shorts and bad connections can ruin your day. I use cheapest (regulated!) air gun that i could find from china, it cost certainly under 20$. Made a big difference.
@@geophilus.electricus it's just scares me to use a Hot air station for very small PCB's
cause when you need to see a component through microscope it means it's very little compare to the hot air which is pretty large, I guess it's a lot of practice without melting other components around it.
Can you link me the Air Gun you use ?
lol i think after new audio ic is coming it still doesnt have a sound
Had me cracking up its square its black right lol
Hey guys, i'm kinda new to this, i have one question, what does he mean when he says the component is shorted ?
You know what is a "SHORT circuit" ?
@@morphingsomething5203 Yes, i did some research, thanks
Did you crack the PCB at 4:03 ???
It's just a scratch, happening while probing.
👍
No motherboard, no shorted motherboard!
Sorin how to get membership from United Arab Emirates (DUBAI)
Obviously it is not the same board. Yore spare board has one RAM slot. The one you have to repair has two RAM slots.
The second one looks like the Intel version so they're similar but probably only by shape so both can be used in the same chassis.
Still looks like a duck😂. But yeah😊😊
Them ducks making laptop dead... Lenovo must not see this video. Delete 🤣
Los chips de audio cuando mueren calientan mucho osea gran consumo y te tiran abajo la fuente
"bye" xD
Can u please help I have no power in all in one pc
check the jack or the input mosfet
3:06 Was ist das? Das ist Adidas...
I was disappointed with this video I was expecting it to be "no chip no shrted chip" sort of videos🙂
Shame all black ducks aren't the same..
First comment
Bravo 👏🎉
I commented yesterday before his new video.
Helpfully it sound like a duck 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
