I estimate that this whole setup uses less power than a standard incandescent light bulb. The power consumption of modular surprised me when I was building mine, i thought it would be much much higher.
Alot of modular users ive seen tend to never get past the " wall of noises" phase and into the actual composition of music that follows at least some of the basic rules, and is listenable to people who arent modular nerds. This piece shows that it can definitely be done to great effect. well done!
Look up Sarah Schachner, her scores for Infinite Warfare, Assassin's Creed: Origins and Anthem are each very modular but they're absolutely beautiful nonetheless
Isn’t he just playing back his pre-recorded sequences though? I never saw him touch any control other than what I guess are sequence selection buttons? Still very tasty sounding-I’m not knocking the music. EDM DJ stuff. I’ve seen other performers actually cooking the sound up live, adjusting oscillators, filters, envelope generators, patching and re-patching with the cables, playing keyboards... None of that here. A good studio product, but kind of boring as a live performance IMHO.
at minute 1:51 comes the greatest modular sound sequence ive ever heard - i always get a big smile and goose bumps when i hear it - why there is not more of that great sounds?
Man this is filth in the best possible way. Really impressive work dude, kudos to you for making some banging tunes on a modular instead of usual blippy bloppy business you often see peeps making. Loving that siren sound btw. 10/10.
whenever people say that all electronic music is just putting stuff into a computer or dont understand my love for modular, i show them this. absolute amazing piece off music
Wow been into electronic music for 25 years and this is the sickest live performance I have ever heard. I googled you Mr. Beck and would have never thought. Please tell me there is some way to get an hour of this type of performance.
I agree I didn't want this to end, I did put it on loop, lol, would love to hear more of this, there's nothing else like it, and considering it coming from a modular performance, it does not come more RAW than this, amazing.
This is fuckin spectacular! It's dirty, it's gritty , it's like a seedy club night in the 90s playing filthy underground techno. Utter brilliance and a lot of cables. I want to hear more of this. I would pay for this music. Please guide me to where I can buy.
Holy moly, that sound kicks some serious ass!!! Me and my synth-nerdy friends were looking for more!!! Nothing to find, dude please give us more of this beautyfull sounddesign beast! Lovely!!! Tripple A + hats down
This video performance blew my mind. I had no clue that in addition you composed Antman soundtrack (now my mind tricks me and I have the feeling Rubberneckers was part of it). Marvel is part of my creativity, I even made a track named "Thor and Loki". Marvel and modular. Marvelous modulars.
1:52 Holy effing shit! I've mostly seen bleep bloop modular video's which I can appreciate as well, but this was by far the sickest modular session I've ever seen.
the fact nothing like this was in cyber punk urkes me to no end. had to play this on repeat and mute all music to have any sense of immersion. GREAT TRACK!
I bought the whole module, I'M GOING TO USE THE WHOLE MODULE.
It's not a phase mum! It's many.
Thats a good thaught
So cool!
@mr penguin why do you need all the frets on the guitar?
@mr penguin andrew huang makes a really good video explain why just type in "modular synth" and it should be one of the tops
“Why does the lamps flicker in our town?”
“Don’t worry my son, it’s just the rubbernecker going hard”
Come thru it’s Lit

"My patch isn't working!!"
"Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?"
" ... ... ...."

At this point, he's engineering his own logic gates and making a custom synth.
Modular artists.
There is, of course, a difference between someone who wants to make music and gets a wall of noise, and those who are actually here for that wall.

For some reason, I keep finding myself here every 3-4 months or so for the past 4 years. Well done man, this looks and sounds very impressive.
So, years in, this is still the sickest modular track on UA-cam, and probably the most underrated.
Second that.
I approve this mesaage
another year later, statement still holds true
true and only 3 damn minutes, one track. but colin benders and sebastien léger provide nice compositions
Couldn't agree more. This track is better than everything else.
Holy shit! This is awesome!
indeed it is
Also doubles as a nest for endangered birds.
yr' so funny - certainly looks like a birds nest - sounds f'n awesome tho '
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
There are probably at least a couple unknown species living in there.
The Masterpiece with no equal, and no sequel.
Art, science, math- making music like this is ingenious. This truly is the universal language.
One of my all time favorite modular performances, that I had lost, and found again, like a royal treat to be re-had.
every time i come back, i get reminded why i come back.
at minute 1:51 comes the greatest modular sound sequence ive ever heard - i always get a big smile and goose bumps when i hear it - why there is not more of that great sounds?
incredible
listen to fill the crown by poppy
@@guitaria6 sounds like shit, thank you
You mean like Infected mushroom?
2024 and this is still banging! Rubbernecking all the way!
One of the best modular jams out there .
Probably one of the most awesome pieces of music I've heard recently. Fantastic.
I refrain from most patch synth videos but you actually EXPRESS something. Great builds, and just plain filthy. Mad respect.
*_* why ist it only 3:38 long? Should be atleast 60 minutes!
will make extended verion for sure
@Echter Nordhesse *loopable extended version ;)
I just used one of the youtube repeat websites and trimmed the beginning and end a bit for quick listening on loop
I could watch this all day... Amazing!
because keeping it short will make you hunger for moar :3
Love it - great setup - great real-time expression - becoming the music - more then just making it.
Completely awesome! Love to see modular used to create complete tracks like this.
precarious333 👀
That is freaking brilliant ! .......................... Best thing Ive heard for ages, the man is a genius !
omg nothing can beat that modular synth sound...so warm its incredible
I often judge modules by the tangled cable mess. Its like a ponytail for a samurai warrior or dreadlocks for a super old Rastafarian.
This is incredible. I saw it for the first time yesterday, and I've listened about 30 times since.
Hello, me from a long time ago. I still keep listening to this song.
Wow man, That was some of the best techno I have ever heard.
Hell yes. Loved your score for Anon. Best thing I've heard in years.
Man this is filth in the best possible way. Really impressive work dude, kudos to you for making some banging tunes on a modular instead of usual blippy bloppy business you often see peeps making. Loving that siren sound btw. 10/10.
Awesome patch man! love it!
thank you colin, especially as i'm a big fan of yours!
I have a dream. That one day we all may experience Colin and Christophe in a duo modular synth performance! :) Great work guys.
Sickening use of trigger riot! Thanks for making this. 🎉
This is what I'd imagine Mozart would make if he had one of these
Mozart would probably hate this
Mozart would have become a great Basketball Star
@@dubtube6691 why was he tall?
@@user-iz3fn3mc9w Mozart was 8'4"
For some reason everyone thinks Mozart would compose in their favorite genre of music if he was alive today
In a world of endless possibilities, most people just freeze, stare and do nothing. This is a great exception!
That bass kick goes HARD IN THE PAINT I could listen to just that for hours
Still the best of modular sounds here! Coming back to listen this again and again! Great!
Some complex sounds being done on the fly...
sooo cool.
Still one of most inspiring modular sessions I've ever found on the net. 👏
Keep coming back ever since.
👍🤖🤚
one of the best modular sond what I've ever heard!
This is great work! The Struktur of the Track, the sound, the groove... I'm impressed! :)
This is the best tune Ive heard in a good while. Awesome.
whenever people say that all electronic music is just putting stuff into a computer or dont understand my love for modular, i show them this. absolute amazing piece off music
When the LSD kicks in
Accurate
Was worried I was going to hear white noise for an hour. Nice job taking advantage of such a badass setup💪
it actually sounds musical. nice work. most modular demos are all sample and hold bleeps and bloops.
yooo for real. People traded up more money for less musicality.
Well, you do need a fuckton of modules to get actual music, js.
I’ve watched this a few times... This is a bad ass modular performance!
Brilliant patch dude!!!!
Dude this is superb.
This sounds so good! Great work!
1:50 i need this sound!
then make this sound
Sounds like some distorted saw wave, try experimenting, it's all about just that.
this should be featured in the cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack
Ooh, lovely. Really like the 16ths cymbal riding over the top of the 6/8 rhythm. And great conducting setup for creating song structure on the fly.
What a wild patch!!! Congrats man, amazing work.
so what patches into what? just kidding man. great groove
i don't even feel like i want to start thinking that i want to know what patches into what. great beat & grove , man! kudos.
LOL!
Brh
absolutely awesome..... wow
On my favorites list. I love whatever techno spaceship takes off at 2:40. Your music is great.
Cant stop listening to this, amazing
Nice to see someone use modular the right way
I like this.. it's a complex modular setup but still sounds like actual pop music
magnific we need more of this music when doit more tracks
Wow been into electronic music for 25 years and this is the sickest live performance I have ever heard. I googled you Mr. Beck and would have never thought. Please tell me there is some way to get an hour of this type of performance.
Mitch Moen hmmm. put the video on loop and let it repeat 20x?
I agree I didn't want this to end, I did put it on loop, lol, would love to hear more of this, there's nothing else like it, and considering it coming from a modular performance, it does not come more RAW than this, amazing.
that's exactly what i do
we need more
PS: Its mostly all automated on a computer, arrangement etc, so its not really live.
Just again to say I'm ADDICTED to this track; something about it. . . I see it in my head-
spirals and waves. #cantstopwontstop
Totally awesome, I’m sold! ❤️❤️❤️
I think this is what my grandma sees when trying to use my smartphone.
Epic! Such a dark and grinding beat. I love it! Sik!
So glad i found this.. Its absolutly awesome..
Wait, this is the same dude that scored 🐜 man? Brilliant!
I want to be able to purchase this! ON AN LP! Or any streaming service! love it omfg

This, shit is great.
Dark Transmission Gessaffelstein makes stuff like this, Magda has some tracks like that too... plastik man did some dirty shit once upon a time too
That Music Guy
Plastic Man and John Aquaviva did some awesome stuff togeather.
and so would a lot of the folks who latched on to this. the guy will tell you to loop the track, literally. not too nice.
Man, this is the best Modular Synth on UA-cam. Create some more videos/tracks, please!
Nice crunchy flow
Please post this gem again! Its soo good
Holy moly, that sound kicks some serious ass!!! Me and my synth-nerdy friends were looking for more!!! Nothing to find, dude please give us more of this beautyfull sounddesign beast! Lovely!!! Tripple A + hats down
The beat reminds me of Jean Michael Jarre.
Love the look of Christmas!

God damn this is a fantastic showcase for what modular synths and artists can do. Well fucking done.
Wow. THE Christophe Beck has a huge modular set and does noise music. I love it.
Whole night closed in a server room. ;P
As a guy who's done that, yes this is what I'm thinking while I'm rewiring cabinets at FedEx
fresh and bouncy sound!
Great track, and such a badass sound palette.
YEAH! I love you setup, your approach and the sound coming from your rig! Awesome patch and live act! ME WANT MORE
1:52 Holy effing shit!

So simple and so genius sequence. Can't help but coming back to strain the play button.

Wooow! Awesome performance. Sick style. Thanks for sharing

For the love of god ... please ... upload it to spotify!
