    how do rimshots work? thinking of buying this kit but I'm wondering does it trigger a rimshot just based on how hard you're hitting the drum pad or do you actually have to rimshot like a real drum? and also do you have to plug your headphones into the pc or do they go into the sound module when using something like EZ drummer?

    • @joyster75
      @joyster75  2 роки тому +5

      you can get the rimshot when you hit the rim itself. In the menu you can set the sensitivity, how hard you have to hit the rim to trigger the rimshot sound and when it should trigger a normal rim click sound. So you get two different sound from the rim depending on how hard you hit the rim, one rimshot sound and one rim click sound. For the headphones you will have them connected to your pc to get the sound from EZ drummer. I bought a 3 meter extension cable to my headphones so that way i have five meters cable to my computer and also bought a usb A 5 meter cable to connect to my computer. There is no latency (noticable) using EZ drummer and ASIO driver.

    Tell me, please, how often do new firmware updates come out and are there new features that were not previously available in the MPS-1000 module?
    I really like the feature in the new Yamaha DTX series modules where you can create layers of different sounds (both standard timbres and user samples) for each individual zone of the pad and assign a specific part of the dynamic range to each layer (voice).
    As far as I understand, there is nothing like this in the MPS-1000, right?
    Can we expect similar functions, even if very simplified, in new firmware?
    I saw you wrote that you do not use the built-in library because of the poor quality of the timbres, but prefer the EZ Drummer. But maybe you have tried to get better results with custom samples?
    Sorry for asking so much, I just really want to know more information in order to decide on the choice of installation!

    • @joyster75
      @joyster75  Рік тому +2

      To be honest, i havent tried the sounds in the module that much. You can import your own samples in the module but not layered sounds. But i am so satisfied with the sounds in EZ drummer 3 that i never bothered about the internal sounds in the module. I am sure the new Yamaha DTX is really good, but for me the price is a concern, and i think you get alot of drums for the money with mps-1000. But the best you can do is try for yourself, if you know someone that own a mps-1000 or a Yamaha DTX and decide from there :)

    How is the triggering overall, any missed hits, double triggers etc (especially when recording midi) / using a VST? Also how good is the side trigger on the snare? I've seen most snares have center triggers. Finally, how good is the ride? Does the bell, bow and edge trigger reliably?
    If the durability and triggering is good, I would consider this over an Alesis Strike Pro SE, I could always upgrade the module for better sounds later, as long as the pads and cymbals are good.
