How to Get Back Missing Printers from Device Manager in Windows 10/8/7

Nothing worked. I was told to 'uninstall' to fix a problem with my printer/scanner not working. I tried Tried 'Legacy Hardware' and my printer never showed. It said to Update Windows because, once again, my printer never showed. This froze my computer (after waiting several minutes) and could not close or cancel. Decided to stop. This advice didn't help at all.

Lot ofth steps you say to do are not possible. I clicked on view in device manager there is no option to show hidden devices. Also I clicked on action there is no legacy device option

Tried method #1 before I watch this video. Tried method #2 and when clicking on install the print driver I only have generic or Microsoft for the manufacturer. When I click on Windows update to search for HP print driver... receive the message: Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows update. Please try again later. Any other ideas?
