      04/08/0004, exactly 2020 years ago, a solar eclipse occurred in the Roman Empire when Herod died and the baby Jesus was able to return from Egypt with his parents.

    Thank you Rafael from Atlanta, GA USA. We will be opening the oculus roof of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and shooting the partial eclipse from the field using the outline of the oculus roof as part of the composition. Of course I am using PP for planning. So thank you! Any suggestions?

    Hi, Was wondering if you got many good shots of the eclipse and if you made of video of the results? Perhaps you have a video follow-up which I missed? Would love to see what you captured :)

      Antoni got great shots of all the phases of the eclipse. We did a Live on UA-cam Yesterday to share the experience... But it's in Spanish.

    So, take off the solar filter during “totality”. Do you have an approximate time before and after the center of totality that is safe to remove the filter?

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 місяці тому

      I'd remove the filter a 1 minute before totality begins.

    can I use the AR button (or any other button) to look at a place that I'm not currently located? Like if I want to see what the eclipse/sun/moon would look like in front of a mountain or a bridge, but I'm not at that bridge to look at it directly with AR.

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 місяці тому

      No, the AR button is useful on location.

    Great video! However, I am curious, is this a repost? I watched one of yours previously that seemed the same. Either way, great vids, great app, all around awesome!

      Hey! It's not a repost. But the content is very similar since they are all Total Solar Eclipses :)

      My bad... once I finished the video, I recognized the differences. Also, how was your trip for the eclipse? Did you have clear weather?

    I would appreciate any advice shooting the solar eclipse's path with a wide lens to show the location where I'm at. Do I need to shoot all my pictures with the same lens, like a 15-35 or a 70-200, or do I need to shoot the scene with the wide lens and then shoot the path of the eclipse with the telephoto lens? Then combine them together? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 місяці тому

      You can do both! If you have 2 camera bodies. Use one to shoot the landscape and the eclipse path with a wide angle lens. And then use the second one to shoot a close up of the eclipse with a telephoto lens. We capture both in 2017. Here you'll find everything you need: www.photopills.com/articles/total-solar-eclipse-2024-photography-guide

      Thank you for your response. I had already watched this video. Two more questions. Do shoot the wide scene. Do I need a solar filter, or can I just use a ND 16 stop filter? Last question - any advice on how to put together the composite image of all the elements. Foreground, and the fazes of the eclipse? Thank you!

    Love the app, and want to love this channel, but the voice audio is always difficult to hear. Maybe consider a different mic that better suits your voice? And please enunciate important details. Totally couldn't catch what you said at 5:13 about the ND filter used with the partial eclipse shot.
    I hope this comes across as positive feedback, I otherwise really like the content and want to see this channel grow 10x.

    Why tell people not to use ND filters? Stacking 10 and 6 stops is effectively a solar filter. PhotoPills is so good it’s unfortunate to see such an oversight.

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  2 місяці тому

      Even the strongest ND filter doesn't protect as a solar filter. But yeah, you can use ND filters... but just known there is a small risk
