- As I've decluttered a lot of things in my journey towards minimalism, I've found that selling things can be a great way of getting rid of belongings and giving them a second life. While I'm no true professional at Poshmark, I've successfully sold over $1,000 worth of belongings, and I want to share some basics and tips for how to sell on Poshmark for those of you who are just starting out or need a boost in motivation to get started. Feel free to share any tips you might have for selling online!
Big tip: Get rid of it regardless of how much you make on it. If you’re not using it might as well let someone else enjoy it.
yup! i started selling in college after my sophomore year caught up with me, and i needed to make room for clothes that actually fit my new body. i saved up my poshmark sales/credit and was able to buy things that were too expensive for me retail. it’s great! just bought a madewell dress that retails for $88 and got it for $20!!
Exactly! I'll sell some items, but I've donated quite a bit of great items to places like Goodwill and the Salvation Army. It helps the community and helps me clear out my closet the fastest!
So true at first I was like what I can get blah blah for this, but at the end of the day I’m not using it and it’s taking up my space so now I’m like ok it’s fine it doesn’t matter something is better than nothing 😀

I'm trying to get motivated to post on Poshmark. My first and only post back in November I made over $1500 off a vintage coat from 1950s. It took about 10-14 days to have the item authenticated by Poshmark. The buyer was pleased with the coat. I prefer selling on Poshmark to giving stuff to a consignment store. I just need be proactive. Could be my vacation fund. Thanks for the video.

YES 🙌🏽 clean your stuff before posting it or sell it for cheap if you’re not gonna clean it. I got some Burberry shoes for $65, I had to clean them but they came out great after.

I need to start to sell my stuff. I already know everything you said. A good video on hoe to sell on poshmark is to use an example item and walk me through the steps on how to set up an account on poshmark and step by step. It could even be a video with no talking so I could just see what to do. I didn't learn anything I need to know.

these are great tips! i'm new to selling on poshmark but i did work for a secondhand/consignment store in college, and one other thing i would add is that when you are considering how to price the item, take into account how old it is, especially for trendier items. a lot of clothing items start to look dated after about 3 years as trends change, so unless the pieces are classic/timeless styles (or unless they're vintage, which are items that are more like 20+ years old), they're not worth as much after that time period, and you may want to consider just donating them instead.

Do you need to have 200-500 balance on your account...and do you need to a credit card listed...The reason I ask is because some one reach out to me that I need to put 200-500 on a venmo apple pay and that a balance me be on one of these cards on my account...Im just trying to see how I get paid.

Another thing I find helpful is including measurements. I regret not doing that to every single item because now my older listings occasionally someone inquires about the measurements and it gets a little painful 😖

I have a question, do buyers asked if you could email or text them? I started posting today and already had 2 potential buyers ask me to send them more pictures but said that they loved the items so I know they can see the pictures. I don’t know if this is normal or weird lol
@@chenellebeautytv Thooose more than likely are spammers. Eventually they get reported enough and removed from what I’ve noticed. Once in a while they come up in my profile and when I try to check out their profile sometimes it comes up as “user unavailable”. I’d say don’t waste your time with them, don’t reply. Report them! Especially if their username looks kinda shady.
Yes, I always want measurements on certain brands because the sizing can be so off! That's an excellent tip!

I am very happy to have found your video. Am seriously considering this for decluttering many family vintage items. My one question concerns the packaging/shipping. Do you use the free USPS boxes with your posh mark label or must you use a plain box such as Amazon. Thanks.
I use both, but if I do get the free USPS boxes it's most likely because the boxes I have around me aren't in the best shape. But if you package them up well it's alright.

I really appreciate your video. I am ready to empty my closet and I purchase better clothing and really just want to give it to good will. That said, you shared that your first sale took 3 weeks. I am about to go on a long vacation from mid June unitl mid September, should I wait until I return? Or is there a way to pause everything when I begin my vacation.

I hope this is easier then Mercari, since I live in the middle of nowhere and Mercari only covers your handling with certain carriers not near me. So doing it all my self or go far just to ship is expensive.

You mentioned a prepaid USPS slip do you have to provide a return slip if they don't like the product is that what you're saying?
I would add, include measurements and fabric content. These are the most frequent questions and people won’t bother to ask, they’ll just move on if the info isn’t there.
Do answer any questions, though. Would you buy from a shop where the sales assistants ignored you?

I’ve just started on Poshmark this month, and it’s slow going, only two sales so far. I’ve done eBay since 1999. 4.1k in sales with 100% feedback. I’m trying to understand Poshmark with the “ likes” and “shares”. And following people. I’m so confused! Lol any info is much appreciated.

Glad it was helpful! Yes, Poshmark does take 20%, so that's definitely something to consider. I personally think it's worth it (depending on the item) because it opens you up to so many buyers that the overall prices are likely higher than selling it in some other ways. Plus it's just so straightforward and easy. But there are always other options, too! :)

I realize it is now 2 months later (You Tube doesn’t seem to tell me there is a reply, only likes). 20% is very reasonable - the resale shop by my house takes 40 or 50% and I hate the whole vibe of the place and their policies. By the time things sell and they take their piece I get very little so hasn’t been worth it. I think Poshmark makes sense for the purses or I heard there is another that specializes in handbags.

you could probably print at a library--they're just paper labels that you'll need to tape on whatever package you're using. or you can save it to a flash drive and print a black/white copy pretty cheaply at a fedex office (it's only a few cents per page). most things take a while to sell, in my experience, so unless you're processing a lot of items, you can get away with not having a printer.
Before I had a printer I would go to the library or just the FedEx print office for like 40 cents!

Print it anywhere, theyll send it to ya. All ya do is print and stick it on a random box
How much money can you really make with poshmark? I had this idea of what if I buy a t shirt on thrift apps for 10$, but with shipping and tax it’s like 20$ I’d have to sell the shirt for at least 30$ to make a few dollars profit because the app takes a percentage of each sale. So maybe it’s a good way to make money on clothes you buy in real life, for example if you buy a 2$ t shirt from a goodwill, and sold it online for 10, after tax you’d make like 5$ per shirt. Which isn’t a lot so you’d have to really have a huge collection making multiple sales a day to actually make good money on poshmark.

What are your thoughts on people somewhat aggressively asking for holds? I currently have a lady who has asked me to hold an item for her three times in the last 12 hours. I don’t currently have any offers or other likes on it, but if someone does come along and buy it at full price, I’m gonna take the sale. I don’t want to hold it for her just because she can’t buy it right now, especially because her continuous asking seems kind of aggressive and demanding. Is my thinking right?
I’d say your thinking is right. First come, first serve. Go with your gut.
9/10 you end up holding it and they never come back or they waste your time with a low ball offer after you’ve held for them

Do they provide you with a link to the item your selling so that you can share it on social media platforms that someone can click that will lead them directly to your item?
when you list your item, there is a "share" button on the listing, and there are social media options. i haven't personally shared on social media, but it does look like that's something you can do.

I have personally done this with a pair of Lululemon pants. They had no tag as I had cut it out but I made that very clear in the posting. They still sold quite quickly. Hope that helps! I think it just depends on the quality and brand.
yes you can! i don’t really find people really care. my biggest tip is taking pics in daylight and of all angles, and MEASUREMENTS! saves so much back and forth of “do you think this will fit?”

I actually prefer that my funds stay on my Poshmark account so that I can add them up for vacations. If they’re directly sent to my bank I’m likely to spend the money.

Help..I was told I had to have a minimum of $200 in my account and then to upgrade I had to put in another $400 after that they wanted me to deposit $1000 for a poshmark sales card this is all to sell a wallet that was $400
The buyer send the funds and now they won’t release any of the money I deposited into my poshmark account. I can’t afford to loose that $600 or it being held back from me. I am on the verge of tears 😢 they are not answering me back I’m afraid I got scammed
