4K - GO and VIA Train Action on the Lakeshore West (Oakville Subdivision)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2018
- The Oakville Subdivision is known for being one of the busiest rail corridors in Canada and North America. Once owned by the Canadian National Railway, Metrolinx owns the line now and runs a record number of GO Trains, and also VIA Rail Canada trains. CN Freight Trains still run on the far Western end of the line.
I focused most of my attention in the Sunnyside area, between the Exhibition and Mimico GO stations during the morning rush hour. Not only do regularly scheduled GO and VIA trains traverse the line at this hour, but deadheads from the TMC and Willowbrook Matienence Center's pass through here, heading to/from Union Station. VIA's Canadian train also made an appearance, 12+ hours late!
Also threw in some various clips from down the line at Long Branch and Burlington GO stations, as well as some action from the CN Halton Subdivision at the Brampton GO Station.
All locations listed in video.
Thanks for watching!

Very impressive having such long trains and so many of them. And I love that shot around 7:21 with two together.
That shot is wallpaper worthy!
IKR, it looks like these 2 trains are racing
14:12 Look at the way that train shakes!
Random Railfan I work on those and it feels just as shaky when we are in them!!
When I clicked on 14:12 it looked like it was gonna derail
because of this old bridge that can cause derailment one day if not changed the tracks and the structure
RailFanning & Stuff I can't even imagine. All I can say is firsthand is that while I'm at work I feel so much away and sometimes we hit such large bumps (if we go over crossing etc) my feet literally come up off the floor! I'm used to it by now but in the beginning it was terrifying! Its worse in the HEP cars than the LRC but both are still bad!
@abderaman alzemouri The ONR was worse beck in 2012 when it was running from Toronto to Northbay that thing bounced along the whole line from A to B lol
The ONR was worse back in 2012 when it was running from Toronto to Northbay that thing bounced along the whole line from A to B lol
4:35 WOW what a lucky shot! Can't believe you caught The Canadian on its way into Toronto! I have always wanted to see this in person!
What route does the Canadian take into Union now? Last time I was on it they used the Bala sub and entered from the East.
That was the train heading to union from VIA’s TMC at first. The locomotives always lead the direction of travel, but it has to reverse from the yard to Union before heading west.
David Lisowski They come down the Bala starting in Capreol, then switch to the Newmarket from washago to Union/lakeshore line
Ok. I thought part of the Newmarket sub was lifted between Washago and Barrie.
David Lisowski Wait.....I just realized my mistake....😂😂. I even live in Barrie!
Love your videos. They remind me about the time I lived in Mississauga, back in 1978. Used to take the GO Train to Toronto all the time. The trains were still the old ones, and soon the double deckers were introduced and are still in service. Whenever I am back to Canada, the GO train is one of the things that I must do.
Seeing GO Transit trains and CN Freight,Via Rail and Amtrak with high quality view is amazing especially during quarantine
That Amtrak train is the Maple Leaf to New York City. It's currently suspended due to the US/Canada Border closure.
I have a note about the northbound CN manifest @ 18:26. It has a LAKE ERIE passenger car next to the end of that.
Must be where the crew sleeps...
@@EpicDrake ha good one
awesome catch on that one
Someone probably purchased that car
omg ur so right
Don't you just love or hate when the train beat the traffic?
Hutu 62yd d Jesuit idiriwri
Ha ha yeah
What I hate is the new colour $cheme
i love it
Not how it works irl sadly. These go trains are insanely slow and stop every 5-10 minutes. Driving is way faster.
(7:17) Racing between two GO trains @ Sunnyside.
18:56 look how it’s all the new metrolinx livery for the entire consist, except the engine is the older scheme 😂
that’s why I hate the new metrolinx livery it ruined the look of the trains
@@devvydoesstuff you shouldn’t hate the new livery. It actually works for the rolling stock imo. They didn’t “ruin” it. Why can’t you accept that it works for the company?
It’s amazing how long commuter trains can get!
That long train “commutes” between Toronto and Vancouver.
Watching that VIA bounce and swing over the bridge at 14:12 shows why you don't stand up to pee on a VIA train. On a TGV at 320 km/h yes, VIA at 120 km/h, no.
Actually that isn't the difficult part. It's when the damn VIA train decides it needs to switch to a different track while you are in the bathroom; it becomes an uncomfortable challenge. I am happy to brag that I was successful without incident. Me 1 Burlington switches 0.
Hopefully nobody was in the lavatory. And pee/poo didn't slosh out of the toilet and onto the floor. :(
Hehe
The bumpiness of VIA (and GO) trains is absolutely insane and ridiculous for a so-called 'developed' nation. I've been on flights that weren't so rough in turbulence!
😂😂😂😂

Burlington Northern #325 Wut why is an Amtrak here
BMasterToronto78 I already know
The real question is why are they running on reverse without a loco or NPCU facing the direction of travel
Chicken Adobo same with the Canadian
@@chickenadobo7649 It's deadheading from the yard to the station. The Canadian doesn't serve that sub
5:40 Wow! Look at those locomotives!
F40s
I've been inside the cab of 6443, F40PH-2D's re pretty cool!
18:22 That BNSF auto carrier reminds me of Home Depot
Yes 😂
Great video! It’s amazing to see all the long Go Trains! I love the scenes at 7:20 and 11:15! The long Via Rail train is fascinating also! I rode it once from Vancouver to Edmonton! Again, excellent video!
I strongly agree!
The long via rail is the Canadian
And Amtrak is 🇨🇦🇺🇸
PERFECT!!......don,t really get to see to many Via Rail trains on here few and far between hard to find .Well done with this one!
I used to do this all of the time (taking still film photographs); I need to do it again! Great video, Michael.

Wow amazing vid
Show off witch is a good thing
Awesome Mike. Thanks for investing the time into the videoing and editing!
Beautiful Curves..
It's incredible to me that in addition to taking up way more space, the constant drone of cars on the highway are even louder than these enormous 12 car commuter trains trundling by.
Outstanding and impressive. Those green locomotives make some distinctive deep sound, like energy waves in the Sci Fi movies. And then absolutely captivating view of that Silver train which had dark blue locomotives in the rear.
Thanks for video. My grandsons loves watcing!
Awesome! Have to head west of the city one of these days!
Indeed, lots of action for passenger! Be sure to check out Bayview Junction one day too, not as much freights tho as we saw along the Kingston haha
Great video! Thank you!
Amazing video! Love the trains running along side the highway and banked track! Please do another recording on a busier day! :D
Really beautiful shots here!
I love the editing style of this video. Subbed.
Oh my god I know that area I watch them pass by all the time and I will wave and they honk at me great vid 👍
Great complications, and nice edits. I live on the CN Halton Subdivision, so intermodals all day. (and night)
7:10 train race
With all that rail service people are still sitting in bumper-tp-bumper right next to the tracks. Amazing.
Awesome video! Liked and subscribed.
beautifully shot
Super great Video! Thumbs Up!
Viele Züge, sehr schön!
Excelente video!!
Excellent footage!
this is beautiful, the fenced off factory behind track 2 in Brampton station is getting a condo built on top of it. it looks really cool
Maravilloso!!!, ojalá tuvieramos estos grandes trenes en Argentina.
I love the cab cars of the GO trains
Sounder (Seattle's commuter rail) also has them!
Nice Compilation and a good Rail and Road Traffic
0:50 Coming up to see the cousins!
:D
wait amtrak runs into canada?
@@yourlocalskoda4860 yes three actually, two from New York and the other from Seattle (this was edited)

Very nice video!!
Great video.

great video bro
love that shot at 7:13
You have great videos amazing
Love the train race in progress at the 7:12 mark that you recorded. Awesome snag, brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#HellYeahBrother #TrainsRule
Super video!
Great page by the way!
Those 12-car double deckers are amazing. They would solve a lot of traffic issues here in Manchester GB
High frequency train between Quebec city and Toronto will be great if we actually get it done. It will be a category 5 track, so correct me if i'm wrong, it will reach in some zone 150km/h.
Thanks for the Sunnyside bridge shots. I used to watch the older single level GO trains trucking on through with a GP40 in the rear heading west when I was a teenager.. I believe you're at the foot of Roncesvalles Ave where King and Queen streets meet. Many memories of Parkdale from my youth (I'm 67).
7:12 was pretty cool.
Very beautiful😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Awesome video
Fantastic video! Subbed.
A real F40PH with a engine not a Hollow shell @ 6:10. Sweet video dude :)! Keep the GO tranist and via rail videos coming
At least u had a excellent time
MassDotFan1062 Productions The majority of VIA rails fleet is actually F40PH-2D's. They have double the f40's than the P42's and are a very common sight. That's one thing we got on Amtrak for now
Sill have F40s on Caltrain in the San Francisco bay area as well. Always grest to see them.
I don’t think it was the F40PH instead of this.
But the model is slightly almost same
@@KaciCooperations that is a F40 on the ViA rail train at 6:11
Super video amigo !!!
Saludos desde argentina !!😉👍
Oeh, estamos al lado porque soy de Chile... xD
That head end car on the GO train is interesting. I have never seen one like that before.
You mean the cab cars that look more like locomotives on the one end? Those are the Series 10 Bilevel cars from Bombardier. They're the latest model.
@@roundlakerailfan6853 tbh, they look more like trams than an actual train
@@superbrownsheep3777 Doesn't matter. It looks awesome.
Funny looking Conrail trains you got up there.

Xoaquin 2 Romero on its way back to Buffalo NY i take it.
Ok
@@franklyspeaking8335 They back into Toronto Union Station, then go forward when departing back to Buffalo.
mbgmarkal K Maybe the Keystone trains can spare a cab car for this service.
Train gets serviced and reconfigured at Via Rail's Mimico facility about 5kms from where this video was taken... just like The Canadian it reverses from there downtown to Union Station before beginning it's journey.
Nice you got The Canadian train.
In 4:10 there were 20 cars & 2 engine's which is 22 wow that's the long train in VIA history
That's the Canadian. Goes all the way to Vancouver. Last summer I was on one with 4 engines and over 30 cars
I went on it last year go on it is amazing
Zainer Khan its the Canadian
When I took the Canadian it had 25 cars and 3 engines
So much going on! I love it!
Nice trains ! 👍🏻
8:30 old go train cab car with the horn.
4:09: I'd love to see this train be a high-speed bullet train one day.
No, these bad boys were built between the 40s-50s, and look far better than a pen on rails.
@@calebweems9392 agreed. We don't need speed to ride the train. All we need to do is to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301, yours and Caleb's hatred of HSR aside, we need to do this, and we needed to do it, as the saying goes, _yesterday_ . You've both heard about reducing carbon footprints due to carbon causing global warming, right? Well, the Windsor-Quebec City corridor needs to have electrically-powered rail transport, as does the other corridor in Canada and the rest of the country in general. We can't stay stuck like this, no matter how much you and Caleb and others that think like you two love the current set-up.
@@calebweems9392,40 and 50-year-old passenger trains are great for a tourist railway to run, but not so great for a government-run mass transit company like VIA Rail to be running. VIA should be running more modern passenger trains anyway, like the Viewliner cars built by Budd (and now by CAF) that Amtrak uses on its long haul routes; hopefully, when VIA gets the new Siemens trainsets, the company also considers getting the Viewliners with the big windows for both the _Canadian_ route and the _Ocean_ route.
The length of the GO trains is a good example of a city and transit that grow together. Startup systems often run small trains infrequently because ridership takes decades to build. GO is running 12-car trains that are standing room only during rush hour, you don't build that overnight.
Its been around since the 70s i thunk
Nice footage
Great Vid Subscribed!
One time I went on the go train and it was awesome
7:20 what a race

@@CSX_Doolittle you mean THE ENTIRE SHOW WAS FILMED IN CANADA
7:17 look at this it’s both go trains side by side one that’s got his headlights ablaze and the other who has got flashing headlights
The GO trains will always be my favourite, smooth and comfy u almost can’t feel the bumps and noise while traveling... the most expensive VIA rail not so much.
Awesome👍👍💜💙😂😆
This is my first time seeing a via train with a observation car shape like a bullet nose
The "bullet nose" as you call it is actually the tail end car. They are called Park Series cars and each one of the 18 cars is named for one of Canada's National or Provincial Parks.
Unfortunately just 14 left on Via now.
I see the Toronto to New York train backing up. I guess this is in preparation for the ~8:30ish departure? When does it pass by heading backwards?
Nice Videos!
Go trains are so long! They must be popular.
so many people ride them . i do every day!
It's because via is all across Canada, go is just the G.T.A.
They are roughly the fourth largest communter railway service in North America by rider ship (roughly 200 thousand people per day) and are constantly expanding that number.
Love the smoke show from the F40’s on the Canadian
The Sunnyside bridge is a great spot!
I remember when the last GO stop was Pickering......they used those "happy smile" Bud cars......and every now and then a Turbo train with the red nose would roar by.....Pickering was two lane highway and fields. Now it's gangland.
8:27 saw a European bus 🚌
(0:53) Hey, Amtrak! Why are you reversing through sunnyside?
Reasons:
Because it was going over to Union Station to recrew
Because it was almost out of fuel
Because it has to take the siding for more GO traffic
Because it has an AMTRAK guy on the tail end
Because it's locomotive had engine problems somewhere ahead
Because there is a problem with it's passengers inside the Amfleets (excluding NORTHEAST REGIONAL dining car)
7:12 Nice train race
Oh, I know where you shot this from! It's the Polish Bridge near the corner of Roncesvalles and Queen, interconnecting with King. 😁
