This is so heart breaking to see the state of a once very proud city centre in this condition.Where did the pride go.I last walked down First St. 23 years ago.
Isu vanhu vatema, tinozvimakisa worldwide. Like in taking over a beautiful villa, mansion with green lawn gardens, a swimming pool.. etc. Before you know it the new owner is trying to grow some rap vegetables and the swimming pool is a dirty frog pond. The villa itself crumbling.
@@blessingmasawi3616 go and ask that silly girl Bona Mugabe what she is doing on her 21 farms? taken for free from our fellow white Zimbabweans. Or just visit one of her former commercial farm and see for yourself.
for everyone vendor you could have ten tourists if that city gets organised , cause it has been extremely popular with foreigners and still is , but needs to be cleaned out
Bring back the 80’s and 90’s….What a HOT MESS First St has become in 2024 😮😢…. the authorities should hide their heads in shame and embarrassment and their talking about a world class city . With some conviction, pride and vision it wouldn’t take much to get things back to what they were.
The council is partly responsible for this deterioration of once beautiful 1st Street or High Street. There was a quest by both council and local government of plundering resources and care less about the environment within the city.Shame on all those who participated in plundering and sheer neglect of our beautiful sunshine city. This state of affairs is horrible.
So city council basa ravo nderei, they don't clean the streets, they don't repair broken pavements, they don't remove weeds, they don't fix roads. So what's their job?
It’s not the council’s fault. It’s ZANU PF that has destroyed the economy. Now people are not able to pay rates. Even the few who pay rates pay in a currency that is worthless. And anytime, ZANU can cancel all the owing rates. And remember, local government now controls all councils. Mayors and city councils are ceremonial. All decisions are made by ZANU
Glad I saw in this video that Leopold Takawira Ave is now a one way. Not knowing that, I would have turned left into it from Samora as I was so used to it as a two way back in the day. 😅
Mmm city of Harare puu zvonyadzisa. Make me an independent chancellor of Harare please. Secondly the law inforcement is letting us down. Nomatter how much you clean or fix things if the next person is gonna drop trash on the ground or vandalize the infrastructure then you are wasting your time. The best solution for city of Harare that they can implement is to give tenders to different companies for cleaning and landscaping. Every company should be responsible for a specific section of the city like North, east, south and west, it can even be broken down further etc and their contracts should be reviewed and renewed quarterly or annually based on performance. Those that fail to deliver loses thier contracts to other companies.
Even calibre ye vanhu varikufamba mu town unotongoona kuti vane nzara ende vasakadzwa ne economy! Tbh I dont blame them for not putting effort to look good cos town yacho kunge paMachipisa
The beautiful ones never come to the city they avoid it at all cost and spend their time at Sam Levi and other new shopping Malls located away from the CBD.
Holy crap, isn’t it absolutely shocking that 1st Street has been neglected to such deplorable levels and is now a shadow of its former glory 😷🤮! The Harare City Council (HCC) is under fire for failing to timely attend to broken water & sewer pipe bursts as 1st Street reeks with stench of uncollected garbage from those ubiquitous sellers mounted on those unmaintained & dilapidated pavements & kerbs!
It looks like H-town is falling apart. Pavements are in a mess. At some point these will need to be ripped out and replaced with better quality pavers. They don’t look like they were good quality pavers to begin with. Harare city council’s responsibility is to keep maintaining the streets and keep things in order. They are failing dismally
Thanks for the video. Your videos are always very clear. Keep up the standards. But our pavements are an absolute eyesore. Seems like some military tanks have used them..or some bomb came off. Disgusting!!

All those making ignorant comments here need to be educated that ZANU took away all the power from city councils. Ministry of local government is now responsible for all local authorities. We used to have executive mayors but ZANU removed all that. Councils are just ceremonial now and zanu makes sure they don’t have any money to do anything. At one point, Ignatius Chombo cleared all owing rates and councils lost millions if not billions of USDs.
Funding does not have to always come from government. They can try reaching out to internal and external stakeholders eg companies etc to help fund repairs. I don’t know the current internal dynamics between council and government but all is not lost.
So they can't plant lawn or kudiridza those plants to beautify the city..or clean public toilets and clear garbage in town 🤔 not everything requires money...
Not a single human wearing a work suite in that city , how do you expect it to be fixed , blue collars and white collars do not fix anything , spirit levels , drills and hard graft make harare great again
