It was 100% going to be Davrin for me - after all it's his purpose as a Grey Warden - until I remembered that Assan was so loyal he'd go too. Sorry Harding.
I would argue that even on Warden front it's stupid. Game never actually explains or studies why he survived Razikale. We as players might know from Origins and lore on how Old Gods were created to give Evanuris immortality, but it's never fully discussed in Veilguard. As evident by Lucanis asking Davrin if he thinks he can survive Luscan. And that brings us to next issue .. Davrin is only warden on team we have. Warden's job is Archdemon. Not Evanuris. And Luscan is still around, now THAT is archdemon. I would just simplify and offed Harding and maybe to choose should be Taash. Neither of which normally have to kill Archdemons.
@@cracmar03 It's been explained in other games like DAO- I'm going to write it out for others that don't know. Before Veilguard, the gods were bound to their dragons. Their souls were separated from the gods who were asleep in Solas' prison and inhabited their (also) sleeping dragons. When the sleeping dragons were found and corrupted by the darkspawn over the centuries, the soul of the corresponding god was still trapped within that dragon. When it became blighted and led the darkspawn as an archdemon the god's soul was still in it, also corrupted. When an archdemon is slain by a Grey Warden (whom also carries the taint of the blight), the god's soul flees to the nearest blighted person(said Warden)- and when it tries to inhabit the same body both souls are destroyed in the process. Dead archdemon, dead Warden, and dead god. In Veilguard, Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain are no longer asleep and their souls are no longer separated from their bodies by the veil. That means their dragons are no longer avatars for the sleeping gods and no longer bear their souls- they merely share a life force bond(like a horcrux). Therefore, when Davrin struck down Razikale, the part of Ghilan'nain's life force that Razikale had, returned to Ghilan'nain but- there was no god's soul to try and inhabit Davrin's body. That's why Davrin survived, and that's why Solas was able to kill Lusacan without the aid of a Grey Warden. =)
I romanced Lucanis but oh my gods did I cry throughout the scene where they fall and throughout the whole Fade scene... Just forty minutes nonstop. No single dry place on my sleeves. What a mess. To all his romancers who chose this, I am so sorry.
Wow i cant imagine the teeears if my romance would've ended up dying on my first playthrough without a warning. Also the voice cracks.. bryonys acting is soo good!
I actually broke down crying when my character spoke after Remembering Davrin...like I had to exit the game and just weep. Rook's voice acting really got me, and Bellara's as well. The buildup up to this point was so painful because Davrin was really hoping we'll start a future together. The fade scenes were heartbreaking, when I compared it to the friendship route.
I always have him as a leader it just made sense for me to not send Harding as she can reveal and help her people reclaim their lost history. NGL it breaks my heart everytime I have to choose between the two, and I don't even think Bioware would do any DLC as they are busy with the new Mass Effect game, I just want to see the body of Davrin and Assan or Harding. I'm on my way to my third playthrough and romancing Davrin, wish me luck if I survived this bit :')
I romanced Harding on my first play. I didnt know the cost of keeping her at my side. Losing Davren was hard. But watching Assan fly in broke me. I romanced Neve after that. Acrually rewarding experience
Yeah I was sooo relieved that I avoided it. I am sorry Harding, but it will always be you. I never thought I will appreciate having paranoia, but I am glad I did listen to it instead of what I normally follow - logic. I don't think I could forgive Lucanis or myself if he was the one dying there. And that is terrible since I really liked Lucanis.
I accidentally made this decision not realizing he dies at the end and then after it happened, it unfortunately made way too much narrative sense for my character 😢
A bit far fetched, but since there was no body found & more to do with the Titans perhaps, just imagine if they made a dlc where whoever you sacrifice comes back blighted & there’s a whole story arc with them & the titans or sm & involve the romance too
Hmm yeah Davrin already is blighted for being Warden. That would make sense that Harding would get blight .. or even evil Harding that tried to kill us.
That's what I think is going to happen. I think whoever is sacrificed is going to become a Ghoul like a Broodmother. If it's Harding, probably that's what she'd become and then for Davrin/Assan some sort of hybrid Warden/griffin creating like Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan mentions at the tree in the Crosswords (line you get when you don''t lock in a romance before, she mentions taking all the companions and combining them together into a monster). I wouldn't be surprised if later on there's a DLC or something that you find them in the Fade (tear in the Veil, they fall in) and you either have a chance to save them or have to kill them by your own hand.
I also think that they might be saved in DLC since Rook does mention wanting find the body but doesn’t get to. But I’m concerned that at this point with all the haters and bad press idek if EA will allow BioWare to make DLC content. They might just pull the plug if sales don’t do well, such is the state of gaming 😢
@@hellodelightfulrando yeah I'd have to agree. 😞I'd love a DLC or 2 if there are some. I do understand that not all games need a DLC and certainly with bad press/reviews it could dampen the chances of DLCs, but there's so much more they could do. Like this storyline with whoever is sacrificed, or going into the Deep Roads to see if in fact there's any lingering darkspawn to take care of and even some more exploration with the Executioners in prep for the next game or the Devouring Storm that chased the Qunari away from their homeland. Any of that I'd be happy with TBH. Something in case we have to wait another 10-11 years for the next DA game.
It was an excruciating stretch after the Chapter 12 choice. I was expecting to be hardened up to the end, but I literally broke down in tears after hearing the companions' + rook's comments.
Assan diving into the pit after him is so fucking sad omg
Well I’m never making this choice in game. 😿 Far too sad. #sobsquietly

Yeah I can't do that. Sorry Harding, you gotta lead the team every playthrough. Hope those stone powers save you.
I’m really hoping that they survived since the game labels them as “Missing Hero” or something along those lines

Awww, Emmrich coming to check on Rook since Davrin is gone. Omg my heart strings are so bruised. 😭
asking me to sacrifice my Husband or my wife Harding is jsut crazy because why is this an option.

It will always be Harding for me, i can't do that to Assan, I really can't 😢
NOOOOOO! WHY?! WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME?! *cries in corner hugging self*
I dont like Davrin as mucch as Harding, I love Assan tho, and even tho I love Harding, but sadly.. Assan will always be my choice.
Thanks for making the choice I could never do.
