Why did it just hit me after all this time that the "..." option at the end is (possibly) symbolic of the "Stay awake" option from class not being available this one last time.
I noticed that quick, which is why in my playthrough I had him stay awake in class as frequently as I could to make the choice to close his eyes hit harder.
My mom passed away on the 14th and this is the song I've dedicated to her. It was her song as soon as we found out she had cancer in multiple places in her body and in her bones. Rest easy Mama. I think it would be a cool send off for something like a series finale but I also think it'd detract from Makotos sacrifice. Only reason I bring this up is it's clear that Elizabeth REALLY is going to try something and has left the velvet room, even some dialogue about "maybe she'll one day be a guest" implying that she will definitely be like Ren, Yu and Makoto.

They may be sad that Makoto, their only son sacrificed himself to save the world, his parents (especially his mother) must’ve been so proud of him that Makoto kept his promise to “Live”. That he did, he lost sight of it after their deaths, but 10 years later he was able to fulfill that promise again thanks to his new friends and new resolve to preserve life.

This ending hit me while it happened but it wasn't until a day or two later that it HIT ME. I suddenly thought of everything, everyone said they wanted to do with you the day prior and that the game ends without the characters even realizing Makoto is dead. Suddenly the ending broke my heart as I explained it to a friend, in a way a game never has done to me before.
He died with friends surrounding him. That's why we should be proud of him! He went from having nothing to having everything, and he traded his life to save the ones he held so dear. Goddammit, why won't the tears stop?
Ngl yumi's pronounciation of the english verses sounds more smoother but ayumi's delivery has that tired and exhausted tone which actually fits how makoto feels during his last moments (By the english verses i mean they said "my life is exhausted" and "i will never leave you")
i think both versions have somethin to offer the original is more passionate and desperate to symbolize just how makoto wont stop at anything to protect everybody around him meanwhile the reload is more soft and calm as if aigis is comforting makoto at his death, making him feel safe and reassuring that she'll always protect him
I do prefer Yumi's voice over Ayumi's but I understand why they rerecorded the songs with a new singer, pretty sure Yumi's age and smoking is catching up to her badly
I played P3P 14 years ago and so when P3R came out, I just decided to spoil myself and listen to Reload's OST, particularly Burn My Dread Last Battle and Kimi no Kioku. Then I finally beat the game today and wow, the violin, which is not in the OST, blew me away
Persona 3 (The portable) version, came at the perfect moment in my life. I can't even describe or comprehend how this series always shows up when I need it the most, and with the EXACT answer to what I'm looking for. I haven't finished reload yet, but so far it's been a great journey, just as the original. I really hope this game helps more people, the same way it helped me. For the veterans: Welcome back. To think that many of us grew up hearing this the first time we finished p3 and now after all this time we're here again perhaps as a completely different person, in a completely different place from where we started, on a completely different life trajectory. Even so, memories of this song always remain so raw.

Persona 3 Reload was my first ever persona game and jrpg as a whole. Even though I kinda knew the ending because of spoilers, it still made me cry hard. Seeing all these characters go through this journey together and in the end to have 1 last day before your memories with them disappear forever, this game will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. And just after beating the game on June 9th, shedding a bucket of tears, a few hours later my one and only cat Mario passed away at the age of 15. Mario, you meant the whole world to me. You made me help go through all sorts of life problems, because I always knew you were there for me. Being with me throughout my whole childhood, you managed to see it all and I am so happy. As someone said: "You don't have to save the world to find meaning in life... Sometimes, all you need is something simple, like someone to take care of." I'm going to miss you. Thank you for everything my little kitty. Love you.
March 5th, 2024. I remember playing P3 for the first time time. It changed me how I viewed reality and death. The feeling from this game is too strong. Friends and family, I never wanted to lose them. But once I grow old, they’ll all one day leave me. So I am going to cherish every moment I have with them, and accept death head on when it’s my time to come. And maybe, see them all reunited once again. I'd like to dedicate this song to my older brother. Without him, I would've never saw him playing reload on the xbox back at the start of this year, and I wouldve never known that there was other persona games other than p5. I had only heard of persona, but i didn't know where to start. So while he was out with his friends, I'd play reload. He saw me playing it once and he said i'd probably like it so. yeah. he's graduating soon, probably going off to some fancy engineering college. Throughout all of the shit with my parents divorcing and going through steep depression and self harm issues, he was the one family member I had that felt like family. Or, you could say my maxed out social link. When he graduates highschool, I'll be a junior in highschool without a pillar to lean on anymore. He'll be an adult, and all the fun memories I have with him will just be memories. Or, instead of dwelling on that fact, I could spend as much time with him before he goes. Thanks for reccomending me P3R, thanks, Atlus, for making P3R, and thanks for letting me see a whole new perspective on how to live just by playing this ridiculously long, incredible game.
I don't understand the discourse between Yumi's performance and Azumi's, theyre both fantastic and both have their place. Yumi's is a heartbroken passionate outcry, while Azumi's feels like a loving lullaby, and a somber promise. They both absolutely fit what Aigis would be feeling, and I love them both.
The new song is not bad but the og version is just too good to be replaced. In fact the og version was voted for the first place persona music in Japan.
2024 was a wild year for me, i got into the gym and discovered how fun it actually was, lost two pets in the span of three months. And most importantly got graduated off highschool which means i have to say goodbye to a lot of people and stuff in my life and give a step foward into my future, i knew since my first day on winter vacation that i needed to change a lot of habits, mostly related to the time i spend on my pc. So for a last tribute to my love to videogames i decided to play P3R since November 28th of this year. Today December 22th i finished the main game and watched the finale. Where to start? Persona 3 has taken the place of being the first game that at least made my eyes teary, with great competitors with really touching stories like OneShot, Firewatch, Omori, etc... and how could it not? This game has to have the most human and fun characters i've ever seen, to the point i can't really think of my favorite character, Junpei's Courage, Akihiko's Passion, Fuuka's Kindness, Ken's sense to help on what he can, Shinji's coldness but at the same time honesty. These make the characters so confortable to talk to and makes the fact that you early or late in the game have to say goodbye to them really painful. But the strongest and most important message and feeling the game left in me is related to the protagonist himself, Makoto Yuki. All that he has done, all the impossible things he with his determination and affection made possible, all the people he met and all the lives he changed for better were done in ONE YEAR. And he knew it, he knew his time on earth was short since that first encounter with Pharos. And so he didn't take a step back, he always took a glance with a smile at the future. Even when the most disturbing creatures were in front of him, even when threats like Strega were in the way, he moved forward even when Nyx was seemingly invencible he stood up again, he endured the pain and the apathy, all because the friends he met, the moments he lived and the journey he traversed. Knowing the state of my life im in Makoto's story really serves as a motivation to me, I don't know where, what and who i will be in the future, but, if i look at the challenges in front of me and take the opportunities im giving without fear and with a smile in my face, everything will be ok. It doesn't matter if destiny has 100 years or just a couple of months left to write of my life, i will live them like they are the last one. With a smile in my face and always moving foward, just like Makoto did. Thank You to the incredible people that made this masterpiece of art possible. Thank you very very much.
Let's normalize the impact a videogame can have on you like a tv series, a movie, a book, it doesn't matter what thing you use to deliver a message, it matters how it is delivered. I finished that game days ago and i keep getting teary eyes when i think about the scene and this song, such an amazing game to talk about death and life as the two faces of the same medal

A long time ago, I finished Persona 3 Portable and I was completely sad with the ending and couldn't accept what happened to the protagonist. I recently finished Persona 3 Reload and completely changed my opinion about the ending, it's totally beautiful and emotional, even though it gives off an air of sadness. This game gave me a lot of laughs, it made me angry, and I felt sadness at certain moments, and seeing the protagonist leave with a smile on his face made me think that he also had fun with these moments and that it was time for him to rest. The game's message is to make the most of your life because you never know what tomorrow will bring, and to be honest, I'm very grateful to be alive. This game will always be a part of my life until the end.

Everyone over here mourning Makoto's fate, wishing he can be saved, wishing for him to have a chance come back and have a happy life. Try to play this game again and again and again if needed. Makoto did live the best he could and he enjoyed it enough to give his life away in order to protect the world he loved so much. He should not be saved. That's the meaning of this journey. Live the best you can while there's time. Stop shedding tears for the ones we miss and realize what they left behind. Carpe Diem. Life is beautiful.
I'd say its just like real life. We lost great people in life all the time. We all hope for that person to be able to come back. But just like real life he wont ever come back. He is gone now. I think wishing for his return dont diminish the meaning at all, it actually enhance it. But if atlus actually do revive him it would be very hard to write it to make his sacrifice to still mean something, for this ending to stay as impactful as it is.
I hate it that I realize that P3R's menu screen is basically just a premonition of P3MC's infinite abyssmal fall in the deep sea, because 80% of the visuals of the Ending Credit Roll is the same design and sentiment and serves as the OG's original message of Memento Mori, and it's been within you ever since day 1. Everytime you open your menu is a reminder that you will inevitably be in that state in the end. Watching P3MC's very very slow fall as this music plays doesn't help at all.
I fuckin adore bittersweet endings, especially where it involves the protagonist winning despite the cost to themselves. This one hit me deeper than almost any other I've experienced. The entire theme of facing death and living despite the inevitable struck with me considering my recent headspace. So glad I gave Persona a chance, one of the most beautiful experiences in recent times for me.
If the devs had given P3 a happy ending where they somehow managed to save the protag with the power of friendship, it still would've been an excellent story like P4. But the ending was what elevated P3 from merely great to legendary status... Gotta admire their guts - Type Moon and Nasu reportedly lost their nerve while writing the HF route for Fate Stay Night (the intended canonical ending was the one where Emiya dies, but they changed it to Illya sacrificing herself because the original was just too depressing lol)
In Akiha's story in Tsukihime, the canonical/true ending is where Shiki kills himself to give his shared life back to Akiha after her demon blood has controlled her because of her weaker life force. And even then they chickened out and gave us an 'its up to the reader' ending. The protagonist of a story dying selflessly at the end of his journey in order to protect what he cares for shouldn't be such a feared idea in storywriting. Provided that its handled correctly, they can elevate awesome stories to timeless ones.
Definitely not legendary for me. A really good game but P4G and P5R just were better for me. I love dark and bleak stories sometimes but the whole month of January is just so eerie and bleak, and Tartarus is still a boring slog that took away from it for me

After finishing the game while this song starts to play, the emotion comes so strong. I feel really like I experienced an amazing story with my SEES classmates and witnessed the unchangeable fate of the people of commu. I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to be forgotten, and I can't stop crying when I see SEES classmates recalling their memories and running to the rooftop. What a story, thanks for remaking it, Atlus.
From what I’ve gathered the actual soundtrack has split vocal and instrumental tracks, with the violin solo taking the place of vocals on the instrumental. I really hope this mashup doesn’t get lost as Atlus keeps striking it down since this is honestly the best listening experience for the P3R version.

Now we have 3 version of Kimi no Kioku. The OG version from the OG P3 game, the movie version and now Reload version. All 3 are good at their own rights. Edit: So, there are more than 3 versions after I look it up again.
I believe the best one can't be decided by listening to them on their own, it's only decided by which one you cried the most to while playing/watching, which realistically is the first one you experienced. if Reload is your first time with P3, you'll probably love this the most. If you're an OG P3 or P3P player you'll love the OG song, and if you've only watched the movies, firstly please play the game, secondly that'll probably be it
OG, Movies, and Reload, it doesn't matter which version has the superior death scene. Makoto's death in all 3 adaptations are the saddest. Edit: Even though I think Reload's take on Makoto's death is the saddest, my point still stands.

My first time playing Persona 3 and it was truly an amazing ending although bittersweet. The sacrifices that were made along the way from every single teammate really put it all together. Makoto made the ultimate sacrifice at the end for all his friends to live on. I know that his memory will forever be alive in every single one of them and in our hearts :") Thank you for making such a masterpiece Atlus.

I'm so glad I held out from listening to this until I got to the ending myself, it makes it feel much more worthwhile and emotional. The newly added violin section is beautiful, and when the new title screen came up, I continued my fit of crying for the next couple of minutes. Finished the game today I think the message of the story really resonated with me. I've never really been as social as I would like aways convinced my self that I was doing the most I can, or thinking I've had reasons out of my control... And even before that I've struggled with the concept of my own mortality ever since I was a wee lad. Fearing what would await me after this world. I hope that this adds new perspective to what drives me forward. But perhaps making this a I hope statement sets it up to fail for. For change is something I need to set about with my own actions. I need: To live life to the fullest no matter how how short or brief it may be. To live without regrets when faced with doubts and fears or fading of what brought color to your world. You push forward for trepidation doesn't stop death it only stops life. Venture life to the fullest because death is inevitable. My own mortality is something that's worried me since I was really young. So this dread I feel about my fate after this world is something I must face. Thank you Persona 3 Reload, for laughs, passion, love, tears, and for the memories, met on this short, but sweet journey. Memento mori, I will remember that my time will end. Third time ever i cried to a video game, simply couldn't hold back the tears no matter what i did, this song combined with all that happened over the 91 hours i finished the game, simply beautiful, the way how the credits roll in and MC is sinking in the water and the light slowly gets darker and darker the more he sinks, until everything goes dark and you can't seem him anymore. Then you just sit staring at the credits. Simply beautiful

i just finished the game today. this was my first persona 3 experience, i had only beat p5r prior to this. this game is genuinely one of the greatest things i have ever played. i enjoyed every second of it. tears were running down my face during the entire ending scene and thats when it hit me. this game is truly impactful, it really does carry some real life values that can be applied to current times. im tearing up a little bit just writing this comment. to anyone reading this that is struggling, keep moving forward and don't look back. this game has truly taught me some important lessons, even if its just a game. people truly underestimate the impact games can have.
I never finished the original Persona 3 and managed to finish Reload a few days ago. I don't think I've ever felt so empty and cried after a Persona game. What a fantastic journey it's been.

Why did it just hit me after all this time that the "..." option at the end is (possibly) symbolic of the "Stay awake" option from class not being available this one last time.
It all connected afterall, and foreshadowing everywhere. Including in Akinari social link.
I noticed that quick, which is why in my playthrough I had him stay awake in class as frequently as I could to make the choice to close his eyes hit harder.

This ending hit me while it happened but it wasn't until a day or two later that it HIT ME. I suddenly thought of everything, everyone said they wanted to do with you the day prior and that the game ends without the characters even realizing Makoto is dead. Suddenly the ending broke my heart as I explained it to a friend, in a way a game never has done to me before.

Persona 3 (The portable) version, came at the perfect moment in my life. I can't even describe or comprehend how this series always shows up when I need it the most, and with the EXACT answer to what I'm looking for. I haven't finished reload yet, but so far it's been a great journey, just as the original.

To think that many of us grew up hearing this the first time we finished p3 and now after all this time we're here again perhaps as a completely different person, in a completely different place from where we started, on a completely different life trajectory. Persona 3 Reload was my first ever persona game and jrpg as a whole. Even though I kinda knew the ending because of spoilers, it still made me cry hard. Seeing all these characters go through this journey together and in the end to have 1 last day before your memories with them disappear forever, this game will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. And just after beating the game on June 9th, shedding a bucket of tears, a few hours later my one and only cat Mario passed away at the age of 15. Mario, you meant the whole world to me. You made me help go through all sorts of life problems, because I always knew you were there for me. Being with me throughout my whole childhood, you managed to see it all and I am so happy.
As someone said: "You don't have to save the world to find meaning in life... Sometimes, all you need is something simple, like someone to take care of."

March 5th, 2024. I remember playing P3 for the first time time. It changed me how I viewed reality and death. The feeling from this game is too strong. Friends and family, I never wanted to lose them. But once I grow old, they’ll all one day leave me. I'd like to dedicate this song to my older brother. Without him, I would've never saw him playing reload on the xbox back at the start of this year, and I wouldve never known that there was other persona games other than p5. I had only heard of persona, but i didn't know where to start. So while he was out with his friends, I'd play reload. He saw me playing it once and he said i'd probably like it so. yeah. he's graduating soon, probably going off to some fancy engineering college. Throughout all of the shit with my parents divorcing and going through steep depression and self harm issues, he was the one family member I had that felt like family. Or, you could say my maxed out social link. When he graduates highschool, I'll be a junior in highschool without a pillar to lean on anymore. He'll be an adult, and all the fun memories I have with him will just be memories. Or, instead of dwelling on that fact, I could spend as much time with him before he goes. I don't understand the discourse between Yumi's performance and Azumi's, theyre both fantastic and both have their place. Yumi's is a heartbroken passionate outcry, while Azumi's feels like a loving lullaby, and a somber promise. They both absolutely fit what Aigis would be feeling, and I love them both.
The new song is not bad but the og version is just too good to be replaced. In fact the og version was voted for the first place persona music in Japan.

2024 was a wild year for me, i got into the gym and discovered how fun it actually was, lost two pets in the span of three months. And most importantly got graduated off highschool which means i have to say goodbye to a lot of people and stuff in my life and give a step foward into my future, i knew since my first day on winter vacation that i needed to change a lot of habits, mostly related to the time i spend on my pc. So for a last tribute to my love to videogames i decided to play P3R since November 28th of this year. Today December 22th i finished the main game and watched the finale.
Where to start? Persona 3 has taken the place of being the first game that at least made my eyes teary, with great competitors with really touching stories like OneShot, Firewatch, Omori, etc... and how could it not? This game has to have the most human and fun characters i've ever seen, to the point i can't really think of my favorite character, Junpei's Courage, Akihiko's Passion, Fuuka's Kindness, Ken's sense to help on what he can, Shinji's coldness but at the same time honesty. These make the characters so confortable to talk to and makes the fact that you early or late in the game have to say goodbye to them really painful. But the strongest and most important message and feeling the game left in me is related to the protagonist himself, Makoto Yuki.
All that he has done, all the impossible things he with his determination and affection made possible, all the people he met and all the lives he changed for better were done in ONE YEAR. And he knew it, he knew his time on earth was short since that first encounter with Pharos. And so he didn't take a step back, he always took a glance with a smile at the future. Even when the most disturbing creatures were in front of him, even when threats like Strega were in the way, he moved forward even when Nyx was seemingly invencible he stood up again, he endured the pain and the apathy, all because the friends he met, the moments he lived and the journey he traversed. Knowing the state of my life im in Makoto's story really serves as a motivation to me, I don't know where, what and who i will be in the future, but, if i look at the challenges in front of me and take the opportunities im giving without fear and with a smile in my face, everything will be ok.
It doesn't matter if destiny has 100 years or just a couple of months left to write of my life, i will live them like they are the last one. With a smile in my face and always moving foward, just like Makoto did.

A long time ago, I finished Persona 3 Portable and I was completely sad with the ending and couldn't accept what happened to the protagonist. I recently finished Persona 3 Reload and completely changed my opinion about the ending, it's totally beautiful and emotional, even though it gives off an air of sadness. This game gave me a lot of laughs, it made me angry, and I felt sadness at certain moments, and seeing the protagonist leave with a smile on his face made me think that he also had fun with these moments and that it was time for him to rest. The game's message is to make the most of your life because you never know what tomorrow will bring, and to be honest, I'm very grateful to be alive. This game will always be a part of my life until the end.
As sad as it is the ending is still beautiful to me man. I'm happy I got to experience this

I hate it that I realize that P3R's menu screen is basically just a premonition of P3MC's infinite abyssmal fall in the deep sea, because 80% of the visuals of the Ending Credit Roll is the same design and sentiment and serves as the OG's original message of Memento Mori, and it's been within you ever since day 1. Everytime you open your menu is a reminder that you will inevitably be in that state in the end. Watching P3MC's very very slow fall as this music plays doesn't help at all.

I fuckin adore bittersweet endings, especially where it involves the protagonist winning despite the cost to themselves. This one hit me deeper than almost any other I've experienced. The entire theme of facing death and living despite the inevitable struck with me considering my recent headspace.
So glad I gave Persona a chance, one of the most beautiful experiences in recent times for me.

If the devs had given P3 a happy ending where they somehow managed to save the protag with the power of friendship, it still would've been an excellent story like P4.
But the ending was what elevated P3 from merely great to legendary status...
Gotta admire their guts - Type Moon and Nasu reportedly lost their nerve while writing the HF route for Fate Stay Night (the intended canonical ending was the one where Emiya dies, but they changed it to Illya sacrificing herself because the original was just too depressing lol)
In Akiha's story in Tsukihime, the canonical/true ending is where Shiki kills himself to give his shared life back to Akiha after her demon blood has controlled her because of her weaker life force. And even then they chickened out and gave us an 'its up to the reader' ending. The protagonist of a story dying selflessly at the end of his journey in order to protect what he cares for shouldn't be such a feared idea in storywriting. Provided that its handled correctly, they can elevate awesome stories to timeless ones.
Definitely not legendary for me. A really good game but P4G and P5R just were better for me. I love dark and bleak stories sometimes but the whole month of January is just so eerie and bleak, and Tartarus is still a boring slog that took away from it for me

I feel really like I experienced an amazing story with my SEES classmates and witnessed the unchangeable fate of the people of commu. I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to be forgotten, and I can't stop crying when I see SEES classmates recalling their memories and running to the rooftop. What a story, thanks for remaking it, Atlus.
From what I’ve gathered the actual soundtrack has split vocal and instrumental tracks, with the violin solo taking the place of vocals on the instrumental. I really hope this mashup doesn’t get lost as Atlus keeps striking it down since this is honestly the best listening experience for the P3R version.

March 5 in my area, came to listen to this, persona 3 is my favorite game of all time, and one that changed my entire life for better, whenever any version of this song comes, i can't do anything more than to cry
Doesn't matter which version we prefer. We know that both versions made us tear up even for a bit. What an ending. Truly one of the best endings in the persona series.
My first time playing Persona 3 and it was truly an amazing ending although bittersweet. The sacrifices that were made along the way from every single teammate really put it all together. Makoto made the ultimate sacrifice at the end for all his friends to live on. I know that his memory will forever be alive in every single one of them and in our hearts :")

I'm so glad I held out from listening to this until I got to the ending myself, it makes it feel much more worthwhile and emotional. The newly added violin section is beautiful, and when the new title screen came up, I continued my fit of crying for the next couple of minutes. This game will always hold a special place in my heart. 🌸🌸🌸
Just finished Persona 3 as a first time player, I can finally understand why this game is so lauded positively. Literally cried my eye ducts out for an hour.

I'm so glad that this game got remade so that more people can experience this emotional BEATDOWN, I just beat it again and it never fails to make me feel so sad.
Just like Ryogi says in Kyoto, "We are like a river taking different shapes on the way to the end destination, the ocean." Makoto reached it and is probably forever there. But I still have my hopes that he will come back and receive a happy life.

I think the message of the story really resonated with me.
I've never really been as social as I would like aways convinced my self that I was doing the most I can, or thinking I've had reasons out of my control...
And even before that I've struggled with the concept of my own mortality ever since I was a wee lad. Fearing what would await me after this world.
I hope that this adds new perspective to what drives me forward.
But perhaps making this a I hope statement sets it up to fail for. For change is something I need to set about with my own actions.
I need:
To live life to the fullest no matter how how short or brief it may be.
To live without regrets when faced with doubts and fears or fading of what brought color to your world. You push forward for trepidation doesn't stop death it only stops life.
Venture life to the fullest because death is inevitable.
My own mortality is something that's worried me since I was really young. So this dread I feel about my fate after this world is something I must face.
Thank you Persona 3 Reload, for laughs, passion, love, tears, and for the memories, met on this short, but sweet journey.
Memento mori, I will remember that my time will end. But I will remember to live life to the fullest through good, and bad, through pain and pleasure, through loss, and discovery, through sun sets, and sunrises.

Third time ever i cried to a video game, simply couldn't hold back the tears no matter what i did, this song combined with all that happened over the 91 hours i finished the game, simply beautiful, the way how the credits roll in and MC is sinking in the water and the light slowly gets darker and darker the more he sinks, until everything goes dark and you can't seem him anymore. Then you just sit staring at the credits. Simply beautiful

Legit cried after hearing this. The original will always be king but the way the ending was handled made this feel so much more impactful.
i just finished the game today. this was my first persona 3 experience, i had only beat p5r prior to this.
this game is genuinely one of the greatest things i have ever played. i enjoyed every second of it. tears were running down my face during the entire ending scene and thats when it hit me.
this game is truly impactful, it really does carry some real life values that can be applied to current times. im tearing up a little bit just writing this comment. to anyone reading this that is struggling, keep moving forward and don't look back.
this game has truly taught me some important lessons, even if its just a game. people truly underestimate the impact games can have.
