Cathy: Mentions Foxworth Hall dozens of times. Carrie (sees Foxworth Hall): Hey, that's where we lived with Cory! Mama must be in there! Cathy: How could she know?!
I am now 44 and I was pretty young when these books came out but they quickly became my favorite. I remember I would walk to the library and sit and read to escape my home life. When asked to this day my favorite authors I quickly remember VC Andrew's who will always be my first favorite.
Thank you! Im really enjoying this series and appriceate the time and dedication it takes to whomever narrated it cause i can never find the time to read latley!
Oh yeah. I read these books between like 11 and 13? It hits so different at 37. I listened to this and the first one this week at work. Many a time I am stifling sobs while trying to work on some ducts up on a ladder. I think at that age we just don't get it. And living in an abusive household as a kid, there were certain things I never thought were off that now seem glaringly obviously wrong. I'm kinda shook.
@@RedneckWarlockI also was an avid VC Andrews reader when these were new!! I'm 51 and revisiting. I'm so shooketh between Paul's "knowing looks" to Chris not trying to get over his freaking sister!! This is not romantic in anyway!
As a child I seen the 80's movie version of flowers in the attic. I found the book by chance in my school library and read it. I did not know that there were sequels. Until the new version of the series came out on television. So this is my first time going through the rest of the books and am enjoying them as much as I think I would have as a child reading them❤️ so thank you @Missspearl09 for adding this
How crazy that many of us had the entire, quite racy series in our school libraries. It is shocking to me, many of us read these book at age 11/12/13 yrs. old. 😮
Every relationship in this book is so gross 😭🤮. I didn’t realize as a teen. I’m halfway through and I’ve had to pause, groan, gag, remark or roll my eyes dozens of times now! And Chris, you are just so gross and sick
Same for me. I was 13 when I read the series. I thought the incest was weird, but didn't think of it as abusive. I thought the relationship with Paul was romantic. Now, it's all gross.
I always get a kick out of the "omg incest eww" posters. Because that's the worst thing in these books which is filled with abuse and murder. I guess killing children is okay now
i can’t believe that paul told cathy he raped his wife because he couldn’t control himself and wait til she was ready and through her trauma, then cheated on her man times and cathy’s just like yes i love you she was crazy…!??? babe come on….
Johanna {NOT a christie Fan !} for me it’s a toss up between the incest scenes and the underage grooming of Cathy from Dr Paul for the creep out trophy!
It's a book. If it's not stated in the text then it didn't happen unless the author has stated it happened in an interview. Or you've been writing fan fiction.
It's better than her relationship with Chris Julian and Bart. At one point they all blatantly rape her. Yes, Paul did too, but at least he didn't force her.
I will agree it is creepy, however how do you figure he's "grooming" or sexual abusing her? She makes many advances to him on MANY occasions, not to mention she blatantly admits on multiple occasions to trying to lure him into having sex with her?! In a court of law she's 17 & able to consent. He treated her WAY better than her brother who raped her, then consistently tried to persuade her on multiple occasions to continue their incestuous relationship. Julian attempted to break her arm which to me indicates he'd easily be abusive to a woman. In the end its important to remember though that these are fictional characters.🤷
I believe that's what adds to the total tragedy that is their lives. Forces you to question wrong & right, & where the line might be drawn. Although I will say, every single time they describe any sexual acts I have trouble listening.
Just got done listening to the confrontation where Cathy meets Paul's sister for the first time. Yes, I am sorry for Cathy her situation, but I am a lot more concerned for her little sister Carrie being in his custody! 😲
Just got done listening to all of this part 2 video. The way this ended was crazy! Julian is very controlling! She married him for the wrong reasons. Tbh I was uncomfortable about the situation with Paul. I believe the kids needed therapy after what they went through. Maybe a professional could convince Chris that what he is feel for his sister is unnatural. I am glad to hear Cathy is fighting it because that is her brother. I will give her credit there. Also Carrie is definitely maturing more. I don't hear enough about her in this story. Was glad to hear she made a friend at one point that spent the night. Also glad to hear when Cathy saw her that she looked healthier. I do worry about her the most out of the 3 surviving children.
@@richardshaw2453 Well in the story thankfully Paul didn't do anything to her. However in real life you can't trust a groomer. So I was worried for her. Not trying to spoil the story for you, but figured I would reassure you that in this story Paul didn't do what I was worried he would. I mean Paul is a father to Cathy now. So them having a sexual relationship is not right!
@@richardshaw2453 Btw, on July 9th on the Lifetime channel the new series premieres of "Flowers In The Attic: The Origin." It is a series of that family before the kids were in the picture. You might want to go look up the trailer for it to get a better understanding of what all it will be about if you wasn't aware yet.
Thank you for another great audiobook. You have a beautiful voice -PLEASE record The Outlander Series. There are 8 books as of today and 2 more to come..I know the books have already been done by another reader but....there's nothing wrong with having audiobook reader choices!
I'm so upset she married him! She shouldn't have married Paul either, but Julian?! A man who abused and sexually assulted her all because she thought Paul was lying? There were better options! She should have just called off the engagement. No one was forcing her. I get that Cathy is childish, but damn V.C made her stupid for that one.
Its not stupid, its the type of decision an abused girl would make. Each of the men in her life isloated her from other men. It makrs sense that she only saw 3 options. And she saw marriage as the only way to draw boundaries from the other 2
Can I buy your audiobooks? I’ld like to place an order before UA-cam takes them all down. How/ where can I order your voiceover covering the entire saga?
Of all the characters I hate in this series, I think I hate Julian the most. And that's saying a lot because I hate Corrine, both grandparents, Dr. Pedo Paul, Chris, and the 55-year-old Uncle Grandpa who married a 16-year-old child.

I really don't know how to feel about Cathy. I know she's a young girl but she already behaves like a predator. Paul I can't see as a groomer since he rejected her over and over and she kept approaching the man when he was intoxicated. The fact that he still does the deed just seems like inevitable. I should be disgusted that he basically gave up on resisting but because of how Cathy is (sadly) determined to use her body this way I'm just not.
He’s 40. She’s 15. He is responsible for stopping her. End of story. Not to mention he kept telling her how “tempting” she is and how it’s all her fault. Classic groomer behavior.
Im sorry but I just don’t like Catherine at ALL! First her brother, then Paul I’m sorry but it just disgusts me. And she also knows that Julian liked her a lot and she doesn’t and is only using him for fame using whatever she needs to get what she wants just like her mother. If you ask me she is no different from her mother. She feels love for any man that looks her way, she has the mindset of a child and if you ask me she hasn’t grown up. She needs to find a man her age and of no relation at all and needs to get over what her mother did as bad as it was because all it’s doing is making her look crazy and make bad decisions. PERIOD.
She was imprisoned during her puberty with no other outlet for her feelings. Chris RAPED her. That wasn't her fault. Then Paul took her in knowing she had been deeply traumatized and barely made an effort to rebuff the advances of a FIFTEEN year old. He took advantage of her when he should have flatly refused to flirt or creepily talk about how beautiful she was. He kept her him alone with him when he could have sent her away to school the way he did Chris and Carrie. He was a creep and knew exactly what he was doing. Remember he raped his wife too, multiple times. And Julian tried to rape her two on their first date. She was the victim of all of them
@cdawg9218 I didn't hear it when she made that comment about Paul, but I did hear it later on. I would play this work. I must have gotten distracted or something.
