Honestly, I grew up with nothing like this - Eminem, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, you name it. This? It grasped me at the first listen. One song was enough, and I never looked back.
The way I see it, Steven Wilson "saved" my musical life. He opened doors to bands and genres I didn't even know existed.
👏...TIME TO GROW UP!!!👍🎧💯
Good lord. I mean awesome and great for you. But didn’t even know existed?! Lol curious as to where you grew up and how old when you found this
Whether you like hip hop or not Eminem is a awesome wordsmith
@@GhANeC ask 100 random people in the street who steven wilson is...
@@adriaandoelman2577 maybe porcupine tree instead and you might be surprised. But i see your point actually, it’s agood one
To say the man is a musical genius, is an understatement. His music takes you to another place.
💞
i like how the comment section of every wilson song is always so polished and well-curated.
what does this have to do with Harmony Korine?
@@indrayan.chatterjee yo same here bro
I was about to write this very same comment but now that I see it here I find myself distracted by the possibility that we may be that same person.
Wait till you visit any TFB song. The Fandom is toxic af
Bhai thik bolecho.
After 15 years I'm still listening 🎶
I cannot get enough of Steve Wilson or Porcupine Tree. Simply the BEST!
Perfection, if you are lucky enough to possess an eclectic love for music
+Emma Hole Your statement is false.
+morgengabe1 Your profile person is upside down.
I just love the switch between static guitar and distorted ones! One of my favourites songs
This guy writes one good song after another.
Yes Tim, thats right and over all...A Genius Composer and Songwriter on this Planet Earth...and than follows Neal Morse, Rob Reed,Fabio Zuffanti...greets from Germany, Helmut
Just discovered Steven Wilson. Astonishing.
A very, very under rated musician.
+thealieninme I completely agree. My whole music taste changed
He's touring this fall.
I'm seeing him in Dallas. Can't wait!
Ryan Carter I'm pleased fella. Once your hooked on wilsons music your hooked forever. I'm still receiving treatment and it ain't working!
The chorus is one of the most beautiful things SW has done. Its incredible how this man can do progressive/alternative music with such a simple song.
15 years. Still keep coming back
every single frame of this video is great for a wallpaper.
was thinking the same thing xD
That's Lasse Hoile for you.
Nabil Baaki lol, I already got two profile pictures and five wallpapers out of this. In skype I got the bird guy and a friend called me just to say what the fuck.
It's a homage to various directors like Andrei Tarkovsky
lasse rules..... enough said
I used to prefer PT, more rocky - but upon several listenings to Steven solo albums, I deeply love what it remains. Even Insurgentes which is not an easy to listen album becomes beautiful over time.
Saw him in Copenhagen this year, I think I weeped when he sang "Routine"... The Wilson dude enters my band/musician library close to Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Katatonia, Genesis, Muse. He changed music.
Guillaume Meister Vermilioncore is rocky AF. :D
Fast forward to 2023 and IMO "the Wilson dude" edges out Gabriel, Floyd, Katatonia, Genesis & Muse!
Gotta throw Smashing Pumpkins in that group!
There are NO words in any language to describe how fucking INCREDIBLE this music is, and combined with Lasse Hoile's artistic visuals, ...it makes you want to cry with so many emotions pulling you in a thousand directions. Bravo Steve and Lasse!
One of the best songs this is awesome for best results play at maximum volume

i saw him in lucerne, switzerland last night. you really have to see him live to fully appreciate the greatness of his music.
TheGreenCapricorn There is much merit to that! I recently saw him in Phoenix and it was absolutely magical
TheGreenCapricorn I saw him yesterday in india. And you can't be more correct.
same here !!! He is Surreal Live :)
post NH7 hangover!
I was there as well... it was my 4th SW concert and somehow it was the one I enjoyed the most.
Magnificent song....and Gavin Harrison's drumming on here is nothing short of brillant as well.
The soundswall in this song is unbelievable , it just sounds so pristine, so perfect!
Damn, emotions. And I can't name them. Something about it makes me want to laugh and cry at once. It's pretty damn strong. Thank you SW, you're the man.
Wilson, the top of progressive music in this moment
with Pendragon too!
He can play ANYTHING PROGRESSIVE ROCK if he wanted he could play Chopin if he wanted . Please don't cubby hole such a musical Brain,, has a thousand talants what a being he is,,,,,, then again he's read Kafka he is a genius !! ☮️

when I discovered Steven Wlison's music I was very Impressed, how can I say? All that he do is original. the music and the aesthetic present in his videos, any way, I love this man!!!!!
I was on a Steven Wilson binge for several weeks - I think it is starting again with perfect life and this one - the man just knows how to touch the grieving soul!!!!!
Stop this video at any second. It'll be a perfect wallpaper everytime.
The greatest musician of our times..Probably!
Just discovered Steven Wilson the day before yesterday !!! I wonder .....How I missed his music all those years !!! Greetings from Kerala, India 🙏
You were still in Floyd brother-
I love how steven wilson is an artist for true music lovers. each and every song is so exciting and so different
Yep music like this is what I live for
This song takes me to a place I'm not always sure I want to go...But never can resist. Thank god for Steven Wilson.
Awesome. Just absolutely stunning. Steven Wilson is nothing short of not only a musical genius, but also an artist in the truest sense of the word. Long may he rule.
Lasse u are incredible.

Incredible work Lasse and Steven. It bring chills to the soul!
You still here bro?
@@glockdesert1761 Yep.
@@SeanFlaharty that's crazy, you still reply
@@glockdesert1761 As long as I still get notifications, I will see the replies. Can't believe I made that original comment thirteen years ago. Lol.
Lasse Hoile is a photography GENIUS.
2 months ago I saw Steven Wilson live in Germany. He and the band completely killed it, especially with this song ! Sound and visual effects were by far the best I have seen so far. (He played in a theater, he said he didn't like it because the audience sat most of the time (expect "Permanating" but he told the audience to stand up and dance ;)) - freaking love this song ! :)
Wow, I can't stop listening to this.......love it
wow...Steven is a pure genius. So glad I clicked on this video.
Steven Wilson is a genius, I really don't how a person can bring up all of this music and art all together all the time and in every single piece produced together, that's the real meaning of passion, dedication and of course commitment.
I always loved the drum work on this album and track. In my opinion the very best SW solo album. In particular the ghost notes on the snare in this track are a gift that keeps on giving, such precision and finesse. Love the tone of that snare drum as well, just sounds so rich.
Truly an amazing piece of art, one of the best CDs I bought in ages.
Has been my ringtone for a few years
i'm not modern era man but i'm telling you he IS a genius. the thing is, he and his band appeared long after the progressive rock was in fashion. By the way, greetings from Poland
I heard this song at Steven Wilson's concert in Santiago de Chile during the Raven that refused to sing tour. This song was a total collective catharsis, something unforgettable.
I "discovered" Porcupine Tree and Steve Wilson in the last year. I was looking for some things I missed in music, especially in the progressive side of things, he so incredible. Thank you for the music Steve, you inspire to pick up my bass and explore!
2019 any one?
Dude please don't start this clickbait crap here. You can do that under any early 00s hit by Britney Spears, but not under a Steven Wilson song.
@@MrFritzinger So glad you said that
Dipanjan Ghosh : I checked the calendar and yes, apparently we are still in 2019, if you check your phone or computer I am sure you will find the calendar app, save yourself having to come here acting like you are Rip Van Winkle
Forever
Yes sir, Happy new year!
My mate and I went into HMV for a mooch. This was playing. We thought "Stunning!" and went to the counter to ask what it was. The guy said they were playing a cd called 'Transcendence' We had never heard of Steven Wilson, but we didn't hesitate. We bought a copy right there and then and have been blown away ever since. We discovered Steven just by chance and he's now one of our mainstays. What an awesome talent!!!!!! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Only Steven Wilson can make a song/video this good
adoro-te steven. És de um sentimento profundo e sublime.
Estive em Lisboa no meo arena.
volta por favor
Eagerly waiting to watch him live in India (Bangalore) next month!
Me too!
+swati govindarajan see you there!

+swati govindarajan Harmony Korine, ancestral and the list goes on, inclusive of his work for porcupine tree.
I saw him at all 3 places in india
I'm in Bangalore right now :')
Lasse Hoile images and videos + Steven Wilson music = Pure Genius Art !!!
Hermoso una obra progresiva y surrealista, simplemente un trabajo musical extraordinario Wilson simplemente un hombre tan virtuoso en todo lo k crea.
Rain, come down, and fall forever
Drain, the dirt, into the wasteland
Pray, for sound, to quiet the howling
Feel, no shame, too brave
Feel, afraid, to wait forever
Kneel, to fade, the day's corrosion
Crawl, depart, towards perdition
Gray, the part, the bruise within you
Feel, no shame, too brave
Feel, afraid, to wait forever
Forever
Feel, no shame, too brave
Feel, afraid, to wait forever
In an industry overrun with shallow music, Steven Wilson stands out as a true artist among many so-called 'musicians'. I hope his music continues to inspire and move those who have the privilege hear it.
"Forever."
Insurgentes is a masterpiece, one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard.
Gavin Harrison on drums and it instantly sounds like PT
sorry but in this song Marco Minneman is the drummer
Saurabh Kumar Marco Minneman doesn't appear on this album. It's Gavin on tracks 1-3 and 5-9.
Lol what about The Pineapple Thief
I like pre InAbsentia porcupine tree more. My favourite porcupine tree albums r stupid dreams n lightbulb sun.
@@drummatick if this is not Gavin Harrison drumming than its written by Gavin Harrison or I'm going to loose my mind. 😅
If anyone here hasn’t had the pleasure to watch a Harmony Korine documentary, you’re just letting yourself down.
Great music with one of the best music videos that i had ever seen.
Steve Wilson is a great Musician even though I do prefer Porcupine Tree.
I used to feel the same way but I've come to like his two solo albums more than anything he did with PT
lol. his two solo albums? Insurgents, Grace for Drowning, The Raven that Refused to Sing, and Hand.Cannot.Erase are all spectacular albums. 4 1/2 is nice too but that's not a true album, it has a groovy little remix of Don't Hate Me on it though.
Austin Hockmuth
I meant his last two solo albums. The other ones just left me wanting more PT
+tmage23 I get what you mean. Sorry if my response came out sour. I felt pretty let down when I first heard insurgents just because i had such high hopes after The Incident. It really wasn't untill after I heard Storm Corrosion and Grace For Drowning that I came to like it.
+Austin Hockmuth I love SW personally my favorite records of him are Anesthetize (DVD), The Incident, Welcome to my DNA (although it was mostly written by Aviv Geffen), and well Hand. Cannot. Erase... Such an amazing musician we have!!
6 years ago.. omg, i feel so old :(
How do you feel now?
Nostalgia on another level
I could listen to this song... forever
me too! This is a fantastic song and I am always taken to another place when I hear it.
The music reminds me A Perfect Circle
True detective season 3 opening credits
What do you mean by this?
Jullix993 Looks like the kind of thing that would match the themes and settings of True Detective. You should watch it if you haven't, it's a really good show.
Ben Bowker Cool, I'll check it out!
Ben Bowker I actually been trying to find the right track for a intro for a show idea. I would totally take this for it just with more of a droning and horror-esque feel. True detective season 1 is really damn fantastic though.
only if they bring Rust back. season 2 was great but season 1 has raised the bar so high......
i saw him in vancouver a while ago and i had a dream before the concert that he played this and then he DID and i was so thrilled
Cinematic and dreamlike in sound. Powerful, like sonic landscapes in my mind.
The Last Day of June brought me here!

This is one of the best comments I've read on UA-cam... Seriously... I just know that I seriously consider Steven Wilson to be the greatest artist of this generation and I am so thankful that he's not only amazing, but so prolific. Everything he touches seems to turn to musical gold...
EPIC is the word !
*Bows down*
Love you Steven Wilson !
Harmony Codex. I hope for music in the style of Harmony Korine.
Just in case anyone is searching the net for what's the reference with that girl with her hair on the water at 3:13, no, it's not "Ring", it's "Zerkalo", by Andrei Tarkovski. The description says "a homage to the old euro cinema greats", just pointing you to the right direction (I had a little search on the net and saw lots of people saying it was "Ring" reference, and come on, grow up, it's Steven).
Harmony Korine it's the director of Gummo :)
Just fookin awesome!!! He gets better and better
Just... Steven. You're an absolute genius. All of your work is phenomenol. This is pure art.
Video recording location: Deep web
Kaze_Senshi lol
The place is called Dungeness in Kent in England.
The "forever" part is filmed in Aarhus, Denmark :) my hometown. The same place the In Abentia coverart is from
Or Darknet... XD
Then it means the whole world is turning to deepweb...
What I wish PTs The Incident sounded like.
Everything is perfect
I'm addicted to this song! I just keep on pushing the play button again, and again and again...!
@AneeAniAnees
Not the Ring - know what you mean but you need to check out The Mirror by Andrei Tarkovsky ;-) (1975)
Gavin sounds great on this album!
+MrT1o9P9i2 Gavin doesn't drum on this album actually...
Melle van Dijk Yes, he does play on Insurgentes. But not on other SW albums.
This is dark beauty, I absolutely love it!
Lasse Hoile is probably the only one who can "visualise" feelings from Wilson's song.
Depressivo
:(
AHHH Mais este som...
The best!

+JTNugget this song reminds me a lot of true detective , so dark..
I'd love a collab between Steven and Nic Pizzolatto.
i cant stop listening to this!
why is the music from Steven Wilson always so perfect, the guy is a genius
2:48 and 4:53 - direct references to Un Chien Andalou, I suppose?
+Edgecrusher of course :)
0:58 Hey, that's from Bass Communion.
First timer. Been a Prog Rocker and have been in Shoegaze as of late. This feels like a mix of those two areas of sound. Going to see what else I hear....but, I like this a lot.

love harmony korine movies and steven wilson's songs.
Just discovered this, searching for harmony korine interviews, solid. Fits the name.
By far my favourite music video. Then again, with Lasse Hoile and Steven Wilson working together I wasn't expecting anything less
BOSE speakers + Steven Wilson/Buckethead music = F'ing HEAVEN !!!!
garage find NAD amp with B&W speakers + Steven Wilson = 😇👍
To all the people saying Steven should be famous, you'd call him a sell out the minute someone you look down on based on musical "taste" said they like him. Just be glad you know his music and know how to appreciate it. Leave people to listen to dumbed down idiotic "music" if that's what suits them, leave the true talented artists to us. Thanks.
This is such an amazing song. It rises so wonderfully
rising wonderfully is the main thing about rock prog
+Theo jacob Or even prog rock.
For people who particularly enjoy that wall of sound part after the second chorus - give the first LP of Oceansize a try, it's definitely inspired by them.
Is this song named like that because of the filmmaker Harmony Korine?
yes
Do you realize how many Harmony Korines' are in the phone book? Just one, so yeah, you are probably right.
Perfect to watch this on full screen on a cold night at Stoke
