  • Kigali Global Dialogue 2023 | Fragmented World, Polarised Politics: Crafting Multilateralism that Works
The G20 is at a unique crossroads. The grouping will have three consecutive BRICS country presidencies-India, Brazil, and South Africa. This is an opportunity to ensure that the G20 keeps its raison d'etre and focuses on recovery and progress. India and South Africa share a common vision of including more 'voices from the South.' South Africa’s goal is to make the BRICS grouping more representative of the aspirations and needs of the African continent.
How can we bring the focus to the aspirations of developing economies? What should the priorities be for this to happen? How can the G20 and BRICS groupings be leveraged to breathe life into these priorities?
    Speakers:
Sarah Mosoetsa, CEO, Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa
Sujan Chinoy, Director General, Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA) and Chair, T20 India Core Group, India
Velina Tchakarova, Founder, For A Conscious Experience (FACE), Austria
Jovan Ratkovic, Senior Fellow, Agora Strategy Institute, Belgium
    Moderator:
Samir Saran, President, Observer Research Foundation, India

I would advocate for Sameer Saran as our next Foreign Minister as his views, stature, contacts, clarity of thought and advocacy for India speaks for itself. Just brilliant. I became a fan sir.

India cannot realise its full potential w a far right theocratic regime w western neoliberal policies- this will only lift 20% while the bottom is left in poverty
China created the Conditions that r needed to take on manufacturing & infrastructure is key

It irritates me to hear ,"vaasudeva kutumbakam". It is "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam". "Vasudha" is earth. "Iva" is only .loose translation :earth is all one family only".

Ya and even the phrase “the world is one family” is just as stupid as it gets

Only Hindus are naive enough to believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam & appease Abrahamics in this suicidal endeavor.

American model of development has not worked for the world and the Chinese model hasn't as well. We are living in dangerous times when the income disparity is highest.

Oh Yeah? Except that most migrants want to move to America or Europe.

What socialist nonsense are you spewing?, income disparity was fantastic 1000 years ago?
There is nothing called income disparity, it is a good thing that everyone is not the same.

China model is working but not w the destabilisation caused by the US & their imperialist looting & interventionism
China has the most successful model in the history of mankind we tend to forget that they had the largest economy for 17 centuries & industrialised centuries b4 Europe yet they never tried to conquer the world like the failed Roman Empire who’s wealth was pillaged

There is zero importance of economy before industrial revolution, more so post 3rd industrial revolution. They are too different to make any comparison. India also had similar economy till 17th century. So what. Chinese model works only in confusian society in NEA. It won't work in diverse and fractured society like Indian subcontinent or Africa..... Too many tribes, ethnicity, language etc. It will take decades for them to first modernise before following western model.

What Velina Tchakarova said could have made in regards to G20, BRICS and the current reserve currency status. But when it was weaponized its own confidence collapsed.

These talking shops are just Talk and nice entertainment value. Pie in the sky. Observe that ORF has a Wester bias though it tries to pretend that it is trying to be objective.

Its not bias. It's a perspective and a view from other side of the world.
For example if you try defend your country and be vocal about the things that irritates you about other part of the world considering the colonial history, are you biased or you are just vocal about your view based on the experience that you have over long time?
It's all about who has gone through what my friend. And it isn't bias.
