Where is the super like button! I can't believe that it is still there working with the magical pinwheel (or how they are called) brushes. Fabulous job on the video :)
Here in Tampa, Florida, there used to be an Amoco gas station on the corner of Fowler Avenue and Nebraska Avenue. It was a full-service station, and it had an automatic car wash. The brushes in the car wash were red and white, but it only had two bottom brushes instead of four. But, it did contain two pinwheel brushes.
It did a decent job, i'm surprised the 32 year old dryer could actually perform so well. It did do some damage such as marring on the headlights and light swirling from the worn filament.
I'm not trying to offend you, but sticking your hand in what appeared to be hard bristles (1:20) was risky. I did the exact same thing before we upgraded systems at my wash and it cut my hand pretty good. Great video stay safe.
Aside from causing damage to plastic headlights (happened at this wash actually. I see where you're coming from) Ryko's filament brushes are fairly gentle. Hanna Car Wash Co. actually had an ad where they ran a bathing suit model on top of a Porsche through their equipment because they "wanted to emphasize that their soft durable bristles are safe for cars with the most exquisite finish".
Burnt Potato about 2 months ago. It's a 14 bay (7 on each side) car wash with 7 automatics and 7 manuals. The automatics are 3 soft touch and 3 touchless all PDQ . The 6th bay is currently being retrofitted for another automatic, it had the R7B in it
Erick Wardwell very interesting!! So did all 7 bays have r7bs with the original blue and light blue brushes?? And also did it have onboard dry or none at all?? Sorry for all the questions lol
I believe they started production in the late 70's. The older models came without the 'ultraclean' branding, and were later available with tall rear arms.
It would be great if it were soft material and you could have nice hot soapy water come out, and you could lay on a bed of some sort and have it wash your body. That would be cool.
@mpollux2 It actually is not. He bought the system used from a car rental agency somewhere in the area. More than likely, it was manufactured in the late 70's.
Awesome video. Are there any R7Bs in central/southern California? Haven’t seen one out here in almost 12 years since the one I used to live by was torn down.
Here is what is wrong with it the brushes need to be replaced the foam is not spraying out and the arms and the top brush needs to be replaced and the left rear arm Cylinder needs to be replaced otherwise it’s fine
@@sergeantjadonsoriginalchan3063 Hello there! I know now that it is in there. The reason why he is opening back up is because when I called about w years ago and said I like car washes, he decided to clear it out and reopen it.
When I was a kid in the 1980s, there was one of these in Greeley, Colorado. That was back in the mid-eighties. I don't live in Colorado anymore but would be interested to see if it's still there.
These machines originate from the company's foundings in 1973. It's laughably shitty and spartan in contrast to modern machines, the design of the rear brushes was probably only done because Ryko couldn't figure out how to make large wash arms or something. Whatever the reason, they don't clean much of anything, and no one would want to buy that.
@@adelaideautowashes your wrong. That was just the technology back in the 70's. I went through an old RYKO that had Pinwheel brushes, and the car came out looking brand new on the outside, even on the upper half. And also, they were founded on May 16th, 1973 by James A. Nelson & Julien L. Klein
@@bigburgerboi2005 to answer both of your questions when we call the owner, he said that it is mean used for storage and later told us he owned a NAPA auto parts store and he had to clear it out but he only had so much time so he use the R7B for storage. I have the owners phone number that’s how I found out that would be open soon.
I really miss these car washes!!I used to be petrified of them as a kid, especially those evil looking pinwheel brushes 😂😂
The car wash will be open next month it is located at Sinclair food mart Norwood young america, MN not the ATM one
Also, love those grill brushes and that top brush with two-blue-toned chess design!

Thank you! The pinwheels are so weird! They felt pretty gentle when I touched it while they were spinning.
Love those pinwheel brushes!
They used to scare the crap out of me as a kid😂😂
I have an unfortunate update on this wash. It burnt to a crisp, as it caught on fire. I have no clue what started it.
This exact car wash scared me to death as a kid!!!!

Michael Williams Sounds like a Sherman Roll-A-Wash those had pinwheels as well. I don’t believe there are any left.
I haven’t seen pinwheel type brushes since I was a kid in the 80s
Truly old school
Can you record the car wash at the Arco on 440 W Charter Way in Stockton, California?
Old system, but did a great job! I'm still surprised they have a bunch of Voyagers still operating.

We upgraded from a rykos r7b to a new pdq system. The filament material was worn out and pretty much you couldn't find it anywere.
Erick Wardwell when did you upgrade?? Is your current location a gas station?

The address is 505 N Faxon Rd N, Norwood Young America, MN 55368. As of the most recent street view, it's still there.
It's at Norwood Young Sinclair in Norwood Young America
What type of these dryers are
Old Ryko
@@noobthatplayswith2fingers 1979 KingAir/Desert Dry Dryers by RYKO.
When did Ryko started making the R7B? Also, When did they first make the Desert Dry Dryers?

Car Wash Studios Cool.
Hate to sound silly but..... I wish i had this in my garage.
Same, free car washes! Just not with polyethylene brushes, and I don't even know if three-phase electricity exists in my neighbourhood.
It would be great if it were soft material and you could have nice hot soapy water come out, and you could lay on a bed of some sort and have it wash your body. That would be cool.
That would be fun
We all do
It’s not free it still goes to your house bills too.
I saw one of these systems at a Texaco petrol station in Bristol when I was a child & it had green brushes.

To be honest, if you would change the failed air cylinder and replace the worn filament, this thing could probably do a decent job.
Is this wash sill in operation, or has it been replaced, torn out, closed or torn down?
It is closed until the owner clears it out
One repair than it is finally open!
That is a cool Ryko R7B UltraClean car wash and I would've taken a 2004 lexus RX330 to that car wash in 2018
Interesting

is it still operation

$4 isn’t bad
I think that left side did not get the back real good. So they need to adjust it so it will get the back real good with the right side!
