- Here is my short VS demo video about my two versions of RK flyrig's.
The guitar I use for that its Fender Richie Kotzen signature Stratocaster over my RK50 VICTORY AMP.
I use only the final amp of victory without the preamp, I connect the flyrig's straight to RETURN of my amp for clean signal.
Awesome playing and great Demo great Pedal
Love it great Sound and saves Room and the fact that you can go through the PA is an awesome feature ❤🎸👍👍😊
Great Work!!! I appreciate what you do!!!
khund03 thank you my friend !!!!
Great video! Thanks for posting!
Using the RK5v2 in the FX loop of the 5v2 gets some great variety of sounds too
Hey man! Thanks a lot for the video!
Rodolfo Ferreira thanks too my friend
I bought the v.2 because of seeing this video. ;)
Thank you I appreciate
Awesome review of both versions of the RK5, in a true side by side comparison. I always believed that it was tough to improve on the original one, but Tech 21 have rally outdone themselves. I'd also like your opinion on which one is more gig-friendly, as in easier to set up and use on the "fly". Thanx Anthimos, keep rocking!!
thanks buddy.... so my opinion is : all flyrig units especially the V2 editions they are great for gigs and transport of course....then its up to you what sound you prefer.... for me the RK5 units is more modern plexi sound thats why i like more...!!! but th FLYRIG 5 V2 ans PL is also great on sound!!!
What we hear is unique to this amp because the speaker cab is not flat like an FRFR would be. So, it is difficult to get a true point of reference without noting that the sound is colored by the Victory amps speaker and cabinet. It sounds good, but thought I might add that. Using the amps power section only is a good start, but still does not totally represent a flat signal.
TJ Nugent not really... I do not use the pre amp Of victory but only the power amp and the cab .. I connect direct to return so the signal is flat ... the point is , if you connect the rk5 pre amp on every return of any amp the sound will be the same repent the cab
Sounds way better through a PA
If running through an amp or PA its recommended that treble and bass be rolled all the way down and mids cranked

Great video! Sounds to me like the core tone is the same which is the most important. :) As for picking V1 or V2, I guess it comes down to a simple question: which features do you need? Either way, you'll get some ace tones!
I would always go with V2 as having an onboard tuner is essential to me ... one piece of gear to cover everything, even for players who simply use it as back to a full rig.
You get more boost on the first version right?
Great demo! How does the OMG section sounds like with the Fuzz button engaged?
JD Pelayo Petit thank you ... it’s like a normal fuzz effect but become more impressive when you engage the booster on it , something like fuzzface
Can you please tell me what the difference is between the two pedals i know the upgraded one has a tuner and a fuzz switch is that all please reply to this question thank you and thanks fo the video.
Patrick Romero hello my friend .... so , about the sound , tone and character is just the same . The difference between them is the extra things like compressor, fuzz , tuner , 2 Stage reverb , chorus/rotary, xlr ground lift button , headphones preamp button and XLR output and my opinion much better speaker simulator !!!
@@ANTHIMOSmanti hey thanks Man yeah i decided to go with the V2 like the new features on the V2 thanks for your response peace.
So you can't switch between clean and Drive with the version 2... am I right?
almost right..... the V2 have the sansamp on/off button in a small black button on the side.... so you can use as ON or OFF always. but if you want can you setting up for clean sound and change it with drive with OMG on/off button
Signature Fly Rig with the Sig. Amp and Guitar? Cant tell if youre a fan! ;) Awesome demo
thank you Brett.... on this demo i was use my fender Richie kotzen signature stratocaster and the Victory RK50
@@brettvincient If it has everything you need then get one and then decide. I have both, only because I am lazy and don't like to sell things.
I have the v1, and the OMG section doesn't sound good by itself. It seems it is has been designed to work with the Samsamp always on. I always wonder how the stand alone OMG pedal sounds.
I'm guessing the speaker sim can't be defeated on this one like the new Fly Rig v2?
the S.S its also great on this unit
so, the SansAmp section in the RK5 is not footswitchable? I have the older model, and I can't imagine using it live without that section being switchable by foot, despite the extra features. correct me if I'm wrong.
You are right
In one of Richie's interview, he said that he always leaves the SansAmp on anyway, so he doesn't really need a footswitch for it. Hope that explains why. Cheers!
the v2 seems less noisy when the boost is activated
The knobs on V2 look like they are better than the ones used with V1. What is your opinion?
TJ Nugent that’s true are bigger and better
Ty
The victory amp you are using is the head and cabinet or is it the combo?
Nelson Dueñas head and cab my friend
The first rk 5 its a 12 volt unit
And the new 9volts
Did you notice any difference in headroom?
no... its exactly the same
can you insert another distortion pedal rather than using OMG ?
wahyu rahmanto
The v2 allows for this vía the effect loop in/out in the back
Thank you for nice video! I sold my RK5 and buy Fly Rig 5 V2(the silver one). Do you think each delay is the same effect? I Think the old version delay is more analog-like. More warmth, dirty and long feedback. How do you feel? (I know both them are digital)
阿西吳 thank you my friend ... I think the delay from all of flyrigs it’s the same !!! I don’t know about the flyrig 5 V2 but on rk‘s 5 is just The same
Hi, which is bigger in size, the v2?
Gereon Arcay abou 2 cm longer !!!
Okay, this sounds great. My question is do you have to have the delay on to use the rotary and do you have to have the boost on to use the compressor and when you have both rotary and compressor switches engaged, does it defeat any of the controls for the delay or the boost?
TJ Nugent so , delay and rotary together is not possible, the boost with comp (on) have more gain !!! That’s all
@@ANTHIMOSmanti Okay, so you must pick between rotary or delay not both together. Check! Can you have the compression on by itself?
TJ Nugent yes of course it’s like overdrive
I'm from Brazil, can you tell me where I buy to deliver in Indian? A friend is in Indiana and he's leaving next week. hug
Weliton Araujo i thinks thomman.de it’s a good choice !!! 5 days only for delivery
@@ANTHIMOSmanti VERY good
Sounds great. How many amp sims does it come with?
TriumphinChrist thanks my friend what do you mean ?
I meant Amp Models.Does it have just 1 Amp model?
TriumphinChrist no ... only the sansamp works for amp Model
Can Rk5 combined with other pedals?
of course but I don't think you will need it
I recommend using the BBE sonic stomp at the Output and another boost for gain stacking in front of the RK5. I use a Boss GE7 with slight mids and volume boost to stack
is it necessary for tha sans amp is always ON? whatever amp you are using?
No is not …. Actually the sans amp is the speaker simulator and if you use it on the amp you have more cut on fuzzy treble
On this video I use the flyrigs output on my amp return so my amp on this case it’s only a power amp without preamp , so the preamp it’s the sans amp
Can use 18volts?
TIC hmm I think not !!!
Dont have noise reduction?
Dandi Satya ... yes unfortunately not
If i play with more gain shoud be noise right?
Dandi Satya depends your pickups , the electricity, your cables , your amp ... anything can be overload the noise !!! Actually I play with lot of gain , I have noise but it’s normal like my amp !!!
Ill stick with the version1 because of the sans amp toggle switch.
Can we use two of outs at the same time?
From FlyRig v2 yes ... XLR output and 1/4 output but the levels will be different.
@@ANTHIMOSmanti thanks a lot
If only the booster was behind the Omg...
Safutentag what do you mean ???
I think he means booster after OMG in the signal chain
Safutentag - the standard model has a pre/post button for the boost so it can be just a volume boost (post-plexi or OMG), OR pre-plexi to add/stack a gain stage. I do wish the RK model had a pre/post switch for the boost, but I’d rather have the RK compressor that is not on the standard model.
V2 has a tuner, and the v1 has not?
Mark Lester Yumang exactly .... more stuff on v2
I don't know, but the old one sounds better in my ear
About Rk5’s it’s exactly the same but for the FR5’s it’s totally the old one are better
