Having Rachel come back as a way to pay homage to Mark Greene was just BRILLIANT. They couldn't have Mark himself - but to bring back Rachel, who Mark proved was one of three of the most important things to him was just perfection.
I always think of how John kept Mark’s stethoscope when he cleaned out his locker. I like to imagine him giving it to Rachel when she starts at County General.
I mean it was a pretty standard stethoscope its more about the symbolism than it actually being any different than any other stethoscope a doctor used.
I absolutely loved they brought back Rachel for the finale. This scene, when Frank realised who she was and Carter calling her Dr Greene at the end. Just brilliant 👏

I disagree. While he was the best character, Carter did a really really good job of filling the void and the show was still fantastic. The show was great, from beginning to end.

Well, he did help Carter when he needed help most. Checking him in to rehab, helping save his life from the stabbing. He was a bit of a hard ass, but he left his mark.
Everyone is saying that Carter and Rachel had no interaction at all but, most of the time when Rachel was with her dad, she was at county. She most likely knew all the doctors there. Like I’m sure if she saw Doug, she would recognize him. Or Carol, Susan. Hell probably even one of the nurses. They were like her second family. I’m sure she had interactions with Carter cause him and her dad were so close.
It would have been so cool if ER kept going for years and we saw Rachel following in Mark's footsteps and becoming an ER attending, Carter and Kem getting back togeather, Carter and Benton hanging out again, etc etc
Wouldn’t she be past her residency by now? Med school would have been 4 years, and then residency would be 3 to 5. She could be an attending physician.
As much of a pain in the butt Rachel was, I'm really glad that she seemed to get her head screwed on straight, and was trying to make something out of herself.

It was neat to see that Rachel finally got her life together. It's funny though, when reading the title of this video I thought of Rachel Green from Friends and the fact that Noah Wylie and George Clooney guest starred on one episode.

It was Banfield and she knew who Mark was. I’m assuming that Rachel would have put that her father Dr. Mark Greene went to that same medical school. As it would be a legacy.

I love the idea of Carter taking Rachel under his wing, very symbolic. But it seems really funny that Rachel is all "DR CARTER OMG HI" because honestly, I can't remember a single interaction between them. Ever. I should think she didn't even know him. At least, not well enough to remember him after so many years. Just sayin'.
I thought that at first but I'm rewatching the series now and Rachel actually spent a lot of time at the hospital when she was growing up. I'm sure they chatted from time to time.
They did not give much screen time with Rachel and any of the hospital docs except Susan, Elizabeth, and Mark. Yet everyone knew who she was and she knew everyone. I think they did not give it a lot of screen time, but I’m sure the amount of time she spent at the hospital Over the years she got to know everyone who worked there pretty well. She knew who Jerry and Frank were right away and they did not have a Ton of screen time.
I have always LOVED this scene. But. What if you were one of the others applying? Poorer, but better? Doesn't matter because who you know always crushes it. That's what a couple of decades does to you.
She also plays in handmaids tales show but i fell horrible for her character. That whole show is hard to watch its just so horrible what happens to the women

The amount of time Rachel spent at the hospital growing up she probably got to know him that pretty well. I wish they had her come up and visit Elizabeth and Ella after Mark died. They just had the one scene together in season 10, but clearly they kept in touch and developed a close relationship. If she helped her out with Duke and they flew to Chicago together.
This was the series finale. My guess is Rachel went to med school, passes with flying colors and became an ER doctor at Cook County just like her father. 🤗
The age difference is less than 20 years (he was about 23 when she was about 5). 20 years is nothing. It's ok for a man to be 18-20 years older than his wife or girlfriend. They would be very cute. Probably they will after the last episode :)

It started long before Greene died. It started when Doug Ross quit. That's when "ER" stopped having a sense of humor and started taking itself way too seriously. It got some of that back during the final season, but it's a good thing they ended when they did. Fifteen years is enough for any show, especially one that is that intense for that long...
I actually think the real downhill came with Julianna left. i know people say Carter and Mark were the heart of the show, but really, it was Carol; her acute absent during season 6 was painfully noticed. I it took me a few good years to be able to watch ER again, after season 6 it all started going downhill from there i stopped around season 9 but i think they picked up again in the later seasons, they had some good guest stars, nice plot lines. but nothing compered to the original 5 seasons.

Rachel didn't appear during Season 7 at all because she moved away at the end of Season 6, though she was meant to visit Mark after his first surgery. So they took advantage of that to recast her in Season 8, age her up two years, get her into teenage rebel plotlines and hope the amount of time passed wouldn't make it so noticeable. Everything adds up except for Season 7 counting as 2 years for the then-absent Rachel. If it wasn't for the recast/age up she'd be 20 in the finale.

That is not Rory Gilmore. Alexis Bledel played Rory on Gilmore Girls, Hallee Hirsh played Rachel on ER. Two completely different people.
