Dethroning VS Code is not gonna be an easy race for sure! 👨💻
That’s the power of active community. VSCode is enjoying it
less JS (electron ) running on my PC is always welcomed
Vs code never throned to begin with. We have webstorm, phpstorm, fleet.
vs code is CRAAAAZY
Zed is at very early stage of development, there are a lot of necessary parts missing. Instead of implementing basic thing allowing people to use the editor on daily basis the editor's developers spending effort implementing collaboration and copilot integration going in the wrong direction.
Zed already has enough features for it to be usable, what's missing for you?
@@Senev314 Maybe it is for you if have primitive tasks. For me: no Angular support, no SASS support, almost no Git integration, no eslint support, I've always got tsconfig parsing error in typescript projects whereas no errors in other editors, no decent Vim bindings support, no plugins and ecosystem, it even doesn't have file icons.
So I don't know about your tasks, but I bet for most people it is not usable for now.
@@sergey9679 yeah i can see you frustration. Regarding git, the new update has a very decent git integration now. As for file icons, they’re soon to be added. I mainly write rust and python, and Zed doesnt miss any feature that i’d use on VSCode so to say. Plugin support are also promised to be added, but Zed is still very new and doesn’t have the core ready for allowing plugins and extensible festures without it growing a pain in the future.
@@Senev314 What exactly you called "a very decent git integration"? Displaying branch name and color highlighting for changed filenames? 🤣 Have you ever seen git integration in other editors like VSCode or Webstorm? 🙂
I understand that Zed is a new editor. My point in the main post was about the developers going in the wring direction developing "fancy features" like collaboration and copilot integration in early stage when the editor is not able to do simple things people need for daily basis usage.
@@sergey9679 I personally use external git clients to keep my git experience the same whether if i use vscode, intellij, you name it… so the git awareness in the editor is more than enough for me. But yeah i agree with you, there is still room for a lot of improvement but those will take time like it took any other editor, most of the features you’ve pin pointed are features that would generally be a plugin in extensible editors, which is what the zed team is trying to implement. But like you said, they focus on collaboration first because that’s the feature that they will monetize and earn from, in order to keep developing the editor. So i think the answer as of today whether if zed is suitable, is just the classic ”it depends”. It works for me, might not for you, or for someone else, but that doesn’t mean that Zed will never become enough useful for it to suit your needs either 🤷🏽♂️
Still going to use VS -CODE , my first love❤
I was the same like you... Would be still using notepad++ ,my first love ❤
@Hitesh Choudhary can we ssh to a project from this? I couldn't find it anywhere
9:03 “people who are on vim, they would absolutely love it, no code suggestion” - No! We love auto complete, and largely how we setup language server integration with our beloved Vim is kind of kept like a secret under the term “language server protocol” haha. But, this heavy lifting is taken care by this editor and you can have auto suggestions and enable auto complete by setting the enable_language_server to be true in the json file. Cheers!
I think the extensions make VS Code the most powerful code editor, it will be very hard to replace VS Code as much time is required to create extensions for Zed.
Agree, intellisense and plugins are important
Could you do a review video of the Lapce code editor? It's also a fast editor written in Rust. It's already available for Windows and Linux as well as MacOS.
Sir, now you are in the world of fascinating thumbnails 🎉
hello hitesh, where do you buy your t-shirts?
Extensions are available for these things in VS Code too .... they just embeded the codes in editor itself
This is so good for a beta. I believe its due to the fact that the founders helped build Atom Editor!
They lead the entire Atom development
I felt journal feature was awesome, but anyway I love VSCODE ♥️and never gonna leave VSCODE soon 😜
Vscode lovers like here❤
like
until companies stop using vs code for their projects, there are many options like sublime, pycharm but vs code is leader in all of them
In the early days Vs code was also lightweight and fast, now feels little bit slow
I found Codux to be ana awesome Figma replacement for React Component Exports.
Hitesh, do you at times get pissed off with the constant new technologies that pop up every new month and then what you just learnt seems obsolete?
Btw, congratulations for your wedding. You did break my heart with the tiny man/gay crush I had on you.
Jokes apart, I wish you both a very prosperous life ahead.
Also, I'd request you do a dedicated video on what can be the future React killers, like next js, etc ?
That's a suggestion, baaqi its your decision. Thanks for another awesome video.
Can't believe that I'm watching it instead of this boring Google Meeting we have in the evening at my workplace 😂
Hitesh sir uploading videos, 2 in a day feels too cold!
This is good
But too much bugs in vim mode,
- sometimes I just press escape and it does not go to insert mode
- one of the downside for me is I need my files window in right side which I can not configure / can not figure out
- fuzzy search needs to be worked on
I will use vs code forever Nothing will change it!❤❤❤❤
Nothing is forever unfortunately. People use to say same thing for atom or sublime
The support for VsCode is huge. The amazing extensions make VsCode much better choice for now. May be in future, Zed's support increases, we will be able to switch to this. But for now, VsCode is the king.
I want to get rid of every big tech tools especially ms! So zed looks promising! Do they have any touch to big tech aka ms, google, amazon, apple, etc.?
Vim people also use LSP in their config, it just don't have tailwind LSP support in it not yet
I am 100% aware that programming languages are just tools.
But when sir said "It's build in rust" I went on their website and downloaded the code editor, now who knows that it will be replacing vs-code in my machine but my dreams were shambled like a glass breaks into many pieces
New keyboard seems to work too fine😂
How to run the code on zed
There is another code editor like Zed which is "Lapse". That also built in Rust language.
it's lapCe. there is also one called Helix which is also rust, nowadays everything is rust that is focused on performance.
love your attitude and thoughts 😀
actually its not very practical i tried it... so we do changes and want to see changes there is no option on left side we need to type git diff
I've heard of fleet and now zed, honestly, before you judge me... why would I choose another editor which more or less like the already stable vscode. Do these guy develop those editors for fun ?
I'm in the realm of "vim".
What's vscode?
can you make a videos on dsa
I would try this one vscode keep freezing on large typescript projects
He comes out from under the bridge - admittedly a troll; good for you!
Sir please share your coding journey from your 18teens to till now, how you work hard, what you do when code dont work, how much Decipline you maintain throughout this journey who motivates you how you become so successful programmer as well as good teacher and mentor in short please share your short autobiography. Because this was really boost us and give a powerful motivation in our learnings #hitesh_sir
why exactly from 18 lol, lot of devs start their journey earlier
It is not even on windows or even on linux. Normally, i would say it is too early to say that. But so far, my thoughts on this is that zed doesn't want to replace vscode. It wants to target niche developers for the time being.
I have higher hopes from fleet though
Absolutely, that’s the case
yeah probably If its support neovim features and Lsp then it will be awesome for vim users.BTW I use vim all the time.
O:40 Okay he will decide what we need to love and what we need.
I am not vscode uer but not sure if everyone has that "use and throw" mentality towards whatever they have been using day and night to feed her/his family.
zed has lsp support you missed it in the docs @Hitesh Choudhary
a code editor without linux support going to replace vscode?
Without linux support???
Do you understand beta release for selected platform ?
@@HiteshChoudharydotcom I understand but why only Mac? and what about lapce?
@@HiteshChoudharydotcom beta release should be of Linux
I am spoiled by VS code extensions and suggestions😅
how to download for windows?
Not available yet.
You make this video in hindi and tell how to run c and c++ code.
Plugins support would be a battlefield then
journel feature the excellent one, hands down.
In 4k that's so good
vscode is vscode no other things are replace it
Sadly no linux version yet
Who uses Mac anyway?
Who say vim doesnt have code completion Neovim has everything of a code editor with less resources
What is this hitesh you are killing coolest tools and frameworks day by day.
Time to kill Javascript too, soon 😂
@@HiteshChoudharydotcom how that would be possible you are JavaScript God... 🤩
@@HiteshChoudharydotcomi hope TS is not the answer 😅
I am not going to leave VSCode in near future
I use Jetbrains 😎 vs code was good
VS Code is lub sir
Now a days CS is very fast moving target.
zed will not replace vs code
Maybe in future. Right now I'll stick to VS Code.
I strongly feel Zed is going to replace my code editor in large part. And the best part is it'll have the best support for Rust, which is the language I sue. :)
Thats only for mac os
1:34 that awwwwww 😂😂
Firt time coding I was using atom & it was a great exprience nothing was worse than atom sunset:/
Sir is enjoying trolling the folks 💀😅🙃
hahaha, 100%
Zen is built with rust that's all matters, and it uses treesitter
Thank you.
I believe only when Microsoft stop invest in VS Code, their is no way another code editor could compete with it
Zed is super fast!!!!
lightening fast
My manager is big user of vim shortcuts. She configured all those key bindings in vs code, I was like why😂. Just use mouse or arrow keys
Just to show off their CUI 😂😂
Zed performance is hype. But vscode is an era I use vs code
Thumbnail are eye-catching
Rust tools are getting more and more attention because they are fast like a light
I am no VSCode fan but it is the most versatile editor available. With no intellisense and plugins, Zed doesn't look nearly as appealing at the moment
Just watching this Video enjoying it because I'm on windows😂
Some people consider the tools they like as religions
Zed❤
Another motivation to get a macbook
People need to try nvim
No
@@thecoolnewsguy username checksout
No copilot? Never. Vscode forever❤
promotion😈
Where is fleet thou 😂
I'm just seeing you in thumbnail 😊😊😊😊😊
No IntelliSense no need to watch farther.
Only macbook
Come on nah, Vscode can't be dead.
Do you know how many lives Vscode has saved 🤷♀😉I'm a living testimony 😉
As well as you can't say Vim is dead 😉
Vscode will always be loved regardless, but trying new thing won't be bad anyway 😉
Well the whole rust project is in shambles. Zedd dosen't seemed any different from VSCode.
I didn't find any comparison between vs code. stop promoting...
UA-cam thumbnails be like - is UA-cam dead
only for mac right now. Lost the first round already.
Vs code is turu lub 😂
lmao what? no code suggestions? every heard of nvim-cmp?
Vim forever!!!
Video is nice!
It's only for Mac, so vscode is not dead
doesn't even have cross platform support lmao
First 60 seconds definition of sadist 😂
check lapce
nvim for life
Non can beat vscode so fast
Tailwind 🫶
Vs code still in most of the people priority
let's see for how long
@@HiteshChoudharydotcom Its hard to match VSCode marketplace.
Seeing it's built in rust, vscode is half dead to me already :)
Yea ...rust us awesome.
Wait until Microsoft rewrite it or write another editor in Rust
You are not enjoying, you know noways people are so frightened. So they definitely watch such type of thumbnail. So you are playing with people's fear.
interesting
Vim/Neovim FTW
