Regina Begam grew up in a large religious Muslim family in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu state. While she studied in a Government School, her sisters studied in Christian boarding schools at Palayamkottai. When all the girls met on holidays, Regina Begam was shocked to listen to her sister’s experience in Christian belief. She persuaded her sisters not to speak about Christian matters in a Muslim home, but in vein. Her mother who was seriously ill, over heard her daughters talk about the healing power of Lord Jesus Christ and sought His help in prayer. To everyone’s surprise the mother got well and this incident made Regina Begam to trust in Jesus Christ. Later, the whole family of nine children and their parents went to church regularly and Regina was, particularly, deeply engrossed in reading the Bible and drawing inspiration from the scriptures.
