Lizzy I love listening to you "yammer on" and I'll tell you why. You remind me of my daughter who lives one hundred miles away from me. She's a couple of years younger than you but quite similar to look at and very similar in personality. We're going to Level 5 here in Ireland from midnight tonight which means we can't go any more than five kilometres from where we live. Obviously this means I can't see her. On top of this my younger child, my twenty one year old son, has moved out this week to start his new job. He'll be moving in with his sister and as I said that's one hundred miles from me so I can't see either of them and my heart is breaking. Watching your vlogs helps me feel less lonely so please keep doing them. 2020 continues to be a really tough year for so many people worldwide. We all have days where we despair and wonder if there will ever be an end to the state of suspended animation in which we exist at the moment. I live alone now but not through choice and I'm finding it really hard. Your lovely smile helps to cheer me up so keep doing what you do. I hope you get a cat soon and have loads of cuddles with it.

Hi Lizzy, As a florist, I would recommend removing ALL of the leaves from your floral arrangements that fall under your vase waterline. The leaves funk up the water quickly, and often start smelling bad. Your arrangements will last longer and the water will look cleaner. Happy floral arranging!
I couldn't agree more, my two kitties have been a complete joy and welcome distraction during lockdown, and are a daily mood booster. Animals are the very best.
During times of anxiety or brain overloaded of so much chatter, I’ve found switching that chatter to repeatedly saying ‘thank you’ helps enormously it shifts the focus almost immediately your brain starts processing/focusing on oh yeah I’m thankful for this and that, it’s almost an instant reboot especially when you’re down the rabbit hole of stress 💓 you just need to remind yourself that the rope out is called ‘thank you and it’s there wherever you are 💓
I adopted a rescue kitten when I was living in Australia thinking that would mean I couldn't move overseas. 1 year later and i'm living in London with the cat. She had a very boujie flight over. She's my little family and I am completely besotted so I've always found a way to just make it work. Also in England there's a great app called catinaflat for finding cat sitters. I've found it great when I go on getaways rather than popping her in a cattery so she can stay in her familiar comfy home.

I recently turned my phone off for a whole weekend and it was great. A few of my close friends did think I’d been kidnapped but honestly it was amazing 😌 I didn’t miss out on anything, nothing groundbreaking happened and I was finally able to refocus and start reading again (not that you have that issue!). I actually think it was the first time I’d ever intentionally turned my phone off! haha 💕
My sweet kitty has been my rock during all of this. So excited for you to get a lil furry friend. It really helps cut the loneliness if you live alone during all of this.
Something good my mum instilled in me was that “tomorrow is a new day” and it always helps when things are a bit crap! Also when you’re feeling low it can help to reflect to your accomplishments and how far you’ve come... as hard as it is to do! We are all so guilty when we feel low to think of how better everyone else is doing. But also thank you so much for sharing all these different moments of life as it helps us all!

I can’t wait to see your new cat when it happens. We had 2 black cats that were brothers until they were 19, they were the snuggliest pair ❤️. We managed about 18 months from when they past and we got a wee ginger rescue kitten called Flynn and he’s so different to what we had been used to. We love him as much as the other 2 but he is a bit of a loner. Wouldn’t have him any other way though. How cute if your cat and “Belinda” became friends 😄 xjx
I have recently adopted a 9yr old ginger female after she spent 3 months of lockdown in the rescue centre. I have never had a cat before (always dogs) she’s an absolute joy and makes our home so warm & loving. She’s an angel & hasn’t put a little paw wrong. I hope all goes well, good luck & enjoy xxxx

A kitten with broken tail almost ran into my scooter this summer and now it’s a family member it’s getting very healthy happy handsome and playful and meows when I leave or arrive home just staring at him makes me so so happy it’s such a bless to have a kitten
A cat sounds like a fabulous idea! This global pandemic is a tough one for us all. Living alone can be trying when life right now is just that much isolating. Hi Lizzy, I have the lumie alarm clock and it has changed my life! So refreshing to not be jolted out of sleep in the morning, definitely worth the money I think. I bought it when I had to get up at 5.30am and it made it so more manageable

I understand exactly how you feel. i've been stuck in lockdown for about 12 weeks here in Melbourne and when it first started it was mentally and emotionally very draining. we can all see the light a bit now and seeing such low case numbers has really made it worth it. making the most of the time allowed outside and focusing on self care has really got me through. I really hope you're feeling better :) I know its a lot to hope for but i hope Boris gets his shit together for the sake of all of you aha. stay safe xx

I don't know why but it really helps me to get up doing one of the free in-bed morning mediations in the simple habits app. It's just five minutes and really lovely, starting out with lying there, eyes closed and breathing all the way to stretching, and then he just says something about getting up and I'd just feel stupid not to get up then. Works for me, maybe it will be helpful for others too :)
Not sure if you're a BBC 6Music fan but Lauren Laverne's breakfast show is really getting me through mornings and makes me feel so much less lonely these days. Having it on in the background is so comforting now, think you'd enjoy Xx

A cat is life changing - for the better. ;) My husband and I waited so long to get one, traveling was one of the reasons, but our Molly made everything SO much better, we can't imagine life without her now. Also consider adopting an older cat, they live up to 20 years, so even with a senior cat you will have lots of time.
Maybe you forgot but a nice tip would be to throw the old flowers in composting containers. Can give them a new purpose! Looking forward to see the cat, I adopted one last year and he changed my life!
the light up alarm clock is soooo essential for winter time!!!! Even if you don't have to wake up early, because even at a normal time it's so dark. It makes you feel so much more awake
I definitely related to you so much in wanting a cat so much! I moved out of my family home a few months ago where we have 3 cats that I was really attached to. Since living on my own I just missed them so much and recently adopted 2 kittens! It's really been such a joy having cats in my home again so I'm so happy that you've been given the go-ahead to adopt your own cat 💕

Someone else may have suggested this, but you can use Cat in a flat website to arrange local cat-sitters, they can do 1 or 2 visits per day, or stay overnight. It’s really handy.
I’ve just adopted a pair of cats from Spain - they’re called the Gift of Life Spanish Rescue on Facebook and they’re so so lovely. They work everything out for you with paper work and taxes etc. I waited around a year to find the perfect cat. Good luck in your search! I’m sure he will bring so much to your life. Xxx
Having a cat has meant so much to me during this pandemic, and hopefully it will do the same for you. Also, hope you don’t take this in the wrong way but you definitely aren’t yourself in this vlog and you aren’t alone. Totally get you on the screen time in the morning thing, but my first thought I had when you said about leaving your phone downstairs was 'what about security?'. I know people lived alone and survived without mobiles in years gone by but would it be better to have your phone in the room but out of sight? Just in case of emergency.
My fiancé and I got a puppy during lockdown and we are so so happy that we did. It’s given us something to take care of, which is such a positive way to channel our energy. And I know even when we come out of all of this, it will be one of the few positive memories we can take out of this period of time.

We’ve moved to a “ modified stage 2” in Toronto Canada...basically no gyms, no indoor dining...also more businesses closing! Thanks for your balanced perspective! Good too to order out...we do that too..it supports some of the local smaller businesses! Keep well
I would personally advise against any Google or Amazon branded smart speaker type thing in your bedroom. My dad works in an industry connected to national security in the states and when they started having to work from home, he was told he wasn't allowed to have any kind of smart speaker. That's because they listen to you all the time, even if they're turned off. They can also determine from the sound of your voice the approximate size of the room you are in and the materials the wall is made out of--and these companies are also training their AI to even pick up on the different sounds of your voice itself--whether you're sick, or have been crying. All so that they can sell this info to advertisers. Personally it really creeps me out.
I’ve thought this. There’s too many times I see ads come up on Instagram or Facebook and I’m like, I’m pretty sure I’ve never searched this either, but was either just talking or thinking about it the day earlier
I was going to comment something similar. It shocks me how many people are willing to allow a company to listen to everything they say. The reason smart devices are so inexpensive is because humans are the product.
We got our rescue cat from RSPCA (you just search near your location). She was very shy and scared, and watching her grow in confidence over the last 6 months has been SO rewarding! We use a cat sitter from Cat in a Flat website when we go away, not too expensive and if you regularly use the same person you grow to know/trust them so travelling isn't much of an issue ☺️

Sooo..you got an alarm clock which has very similar functions and apps to your phone, so you decrease your screen time on your phone by using a different screen 😂😂 this is just an observation and not meant as a mean comment, really enjoy your videos x
Hi Lizzy, we had the same problem with adopting cats. We wanted two cats since we live in an apt on 3rd floor, then they would have each others company. We finally adopted two sweet cats (5 months old) on something called Finn here in Norway, similar to Craiglist and Gumtree. The owner had 4 cats living in a tiny apt with one litter box! :( Our cats are now super happy in our much bigger apt (probably twice as big) and have three litter boxes and tons of scratching poles :)
I have my Google mini hooked up to my lights. In the winter time when I have to wake up before the sun comes out I have my lights slowly turn on to match my alarm time. I find this super helpful as I'm a person who wakes with the sunrise.
I really loved my light-up alarm clock, it's genius in the winter and autumn (and spring, it's great living in Sweden where it's dark like more than half the year...) when you otherwise wake up to a pitch-black room and go right back to sleep. Sadly mine broke, I think it was too close to my aroma diffuser...
My cat has completely destroyed my sofa AND he loves to attack and massacre genuine leather bags and shoes. He won't touch non leather stuff. I cry my eyes out but what can you do, I love this little bastard so much!
Hi Lizzy! Hope you feel better :( it's definitely a tough time for you guys in lockdown. I have had a lumi alarm clock which was amazing when I lived in gloomy Melbourne (weather is a little reminiscent of London) - I actually found waking up to silence/just the sounds of nature was very calming. I am also guilty of being too attached to my phone. Also, those eucalyptus leaves you put in your arrangement will slowly leak a poisonous sap (to the other flowers) so if you want to increase longevity, swap your water at least daily, or separate your Aussie natives from more delicate flowers! Xx
You can just get the phillips wiz or hue bulb instead of the alarm clock. It has the exact same wake up settings as the phillips alarm clock and has so many other light features. I love the "relax" setting for reading in bed at night. My boyfriend just replaced all the bulbs in our apartment with the wiz bulbs and it is the best!
Your vlog was so nice and it just reminded me of myself a couple of months ago. Was also looking for a cat, same criteria as you, couldn’t find one (too much “competition”) and then out of nowhere a friend contacted me. She couldn’t keep her new rescued kitten, so I got him. It was this July and now we’re living happily ever after in Berlin :) Good luck with your research. Your cat will find his way to you!
honestly getting a cat is such a positive experience especialllyyyyyyyy when you live alone. So happy for you if you do decide to get one!!! I've just acquired the cat of the neighbour downstairs who's passed away. It's so nice!!!
Lizzy!!! I am so glad the sad news of you not being allowed to have a kitty was so quickly remedied with the news that you are allowed! As soon as you said you couldnt have one, I immediately thought that you should still ask because you are such a good tenant and cats are so clean and easy and landlords tend to allow them afterall. I love all animals but we have three kitties and theyre the best! As far as travel etc.....you will just figure it out. The pros of having a furry friend and a companion like a kitty outweighs any con. You will meet other pet owners who will help cat sit. You will have friends who offer to house/kitty sit. You'll meet neighbors who will come and help--you can travel AND have a kitty :-) And also remember that with all the shit 2020 has thrown at us all, you can adopt and rescue a kitty who otherwise doesn't have a furever home and make something really specail about 2020 afterall. rescue cats are the best! my piece of advice would be to not send to much on toys and things, you'll find they will amuse themselves with a paper bag or piece of string and all the toys will get little attention :) sending love from New Zealand, i couldn't imagine the stress and uncertainty you're going through but hopefully you'll have a little fur baby soon!

Hi Lizzy, so excited for cat updates! We recently adopted two kittens from London Inner City Kitties who I would highly recommend. They have a range on the website and I think are based around East London. They are such a fantastic charity - it did take us a few weeks (back in July/August) but I think that was because ours are kittens.

I have recently adopted a 9yr old ginger female after she spent 3 months of lockdown in the rescue centre. I have never had a cat before (always dogs) she’s an absolute joy and makes our home so warm & loving. She’s an angel & hasn’t put a little paw wrong.

A kitten with broken tail almost ran into my scooter this summer and now it’s a family member it’s getting very healthy happy handsome and playful and meows when I leave or arrive home just staring at him makes me so so happy it’s such a bless to have a kitten
A cat sounds like a fabulous idea! This global pandemic is a tough one for us all. Living alone can be trying when life right now is just that much isolating. I live alone and feel super grateful for my pup! Feels nice to have a little buddy to keep company with. Love your channel btw. Feeling not so guilty that despite how much I agree with the phone bit I did just watch this first thing in the morning as i’m still in bed!

Hi Lizzy, I have the lumie alarm clock and it has changed my life! So refreshing to not be jolted out of sleep in the morning, definitely worth the money I think. I bought it when I had to get up at 5.30am and it made it so more manageable

I understand exactly how you feel. i've been stuck in lockdown for about 12 weeks here in Melbourne and when it first started it was mentally and emotionally very draining. we can all see the light a bit now and seeing such low case numbers has really made it worth it. making the most of the time allowed outside and focusing on self care has really got me through. I really hope you're feeling better :) I know its a lot to hope for but i hope Boris gets his shit together for the sake of all of you aha. stay safe xx

I don't know why but it really helps me to get up doing one of the free in-bed morning mediations in the simple habits app. It's just five minutes and really lovely, starting out with lying there, eyes closed and breathing all the way to stretching, and then he just says something about getting up and I'd just feel stupid not to get up then. Works for me, maybe it will be helpful for others too :)

A cat is life changing - for the better. ;) My husband and I waited so long to get one, traveling was one of the reasons, but our Molly made everything SO much better, we can't imagine life without her now. Also consider adopting an older cat, they live up to 20 years, so even with a senior cat you will have lots of time.
Maybe you forgot but a nice tip would be to throw the old flowers in composting containers. Can give them a new purpose! Looking forward to see the cat, I adopted one last year and he changed my life!
the light up alarm clock is soooo essential for winter time!!!! Even if you don't have to wake up early, because even at a normal time it's so dark. It makes you feel so much more awake
I definitely related to you so much in wanting a cat so much! I moved out of my family home a few months ago where we have 3 cats that I was really attached to. Since living on my own I just missed them so much and recently adopted 2 kittens! It's really been such a joy having cats in my home again so I'm so happy that you've been given the go-ahead to adopt your own cat 💕

Someone else may have suggested this, but you can use Cat in a flat website to arrange local cat-sitters, they can do 1 or 2 visits per day, or stay overnight. It’s really handy.

I’ve just adopted a pair of cats from Spain - they’re called the Gift of Life Spanish Rescue on Facebook and they’re so so lovely. They work everything out for you with paper work and taxes etc. I waited around a year to find the perfect cat. Good luck in your search! I’m sure he will bring so much to your life. Xxx

Totally get you on the screen time in the morning thing, but my first thought I had when you said about leaving your phone downstairs was 'what about security?'. I know people lived alone and survived without mobiles in years gone by but would it be better to have your phone in the room but out of sight? Just in case of emergency.

My fiancé and I got a puppy during lockdown and we are so so happy that we did. It’s given us something to take care of, which is such a positive way to channel our energy. And I know even when we come out of all of this, it will be one of the few positive memories we can take out of this period of time.
I’m so happy for you, having a cat was the best thing happened to me during lockdown. Especially living alone, hope you’ll get your fury friend soon.

We’ve moved to a “ modified stage 2” in Toronto Canada...basically no gyms, no indoor dining...also more businesses closing! Thanks for your balanced perspective! Good too to order out...we do that too..it supports some of the local smaller businesses! Keep well

I would personally advise against any Google or Amazon branded smart speaker type thing in your bedroom. My dad works in an industry connected to national security in the states and when they started having to work from home, he was told he wasn't allowed to have any kind of smart speaker. That's because they listen to you all the time, even if they're turned off. They can also determine from the sound of your voice the approximate size of the room you are in and the materials the wall is made out of--and these companies are also training their AI to even pick up on the different sounds of your voice itself--whether you're sick, or have been crying. All so that they can sell this info to advertisers. Personally it really creeps me out.

I was going to comment something similar. It shocks me how many people are willing to allow a company to listen to everything they say. The reason smart devices are so inexpensive is because humans are the product.
I adopted a kitten in July and is has been the best! She is now my little best friend and the best companion. Love from the US
We got our rescue cat from RSPCA (you just search near your location). She was very shy and scared, and watching her grow in confidence over the last 6 months has been SO rewarding!
We use a cat sitter from Cat in a Flat website when we go away, not too expensive and if you regularly use the same person you grow to know/trust them so travelling isn't much of an issue ☺️

Sooo..you got an alarm clock which has very similar functions and apps to your phone, so you decrease your screen time on your phone by using a different screen 😂😂 this is just an observation and not meant as a mean comment, really enjoy your videos x
Hi Lizzy, we had the same problem with adopting cats. We wanted two cats since we live in an apt on 3rd floor, then they would have each others company. We finally adopted two sweet cats (5 months old) on something called Finn here in Norway, similar to Craiglist and Gumtree. The owner had 4 cats living in a tiny apt with one litter box! :( Our cats are now super happy in our much bigger apt (probably twice as big) and have three litter boxes and tons of scratching poles :)
I have my Google mini hooked up to my lights. In the winter time when I have to wake up before the sun comes out I have my lights slowly turn on to match my alarm time. I find this super helpful as I'm a person who wakes with the sunrise.
Yess I am thinking I may do this and get some dimmer bulbs or something!

I really loved my light-up alarm clock, it's genius in the winter and autumn (and spring, it's great living in Sweden where it's dark like more than half the year...) when you otherwise wake up to a pitch-black room and go right back to sleep. Sadly mine broke, I think it was too close to my aroma diffuser...

Hi Lizzy! Hope you feel better :( it's definitely a tough time for you guys in lockdown. I have had a lumi alarm clock which was amazing when I lived in gloomy Melbourne (weather is a little reminiscent of London) - I actually found waking up to silence/just the sounds of nature was very calming. I am also guilty of being too attached to my phone. Also, those eucalyptus leaves you put in your arrangement will slowly leak a poisonous sap (to the other flowers) so if you want to increase longevity, swap your water at least daily, or separate your Aussie natives from more delicate flowers! Xx
You can just get the phillips wiz or hue bulb instead of the alarm clock. It has the exact same wake up settings as the phillips alarm clock and has so many other light features. I love the "relax" setting for reading in bed at night. My boyfriend just replaced all the bulbs in our apartment with the wiz bulbs and it is the best!
Your vlog was so nice and it just reminded me of myself a couple of months ago. Was also looking for a cat, same criteria as you, couldn’t find one (too much “competition”) and then out of nowhere a friend contacted me. She couldn’t keep her new rescued kitten, so I got him. It was this July and now we’re living happily ever after in Berlin :)

honestly getting a cat is such a positive experience especialllyyyyyyyy when you live alone. So happy for you if you do decide to get one!!! I've just acquired the cat of the neighbour downstairs who's passed away. It's so nice!!!
Lizzy!!! I am so glad the sad news of you not being allowed to have a kitty was so quickly remedied with the news that you are allowed! As soon as you said you couldnt have one, I immediately thought that you should still ask because you are such a good tenant and cats are so clean and easy and landlords tend to allow them afterall. I love all animals but we have three kitties and theyre the best! As far as travel etc.....you will just figure it out. The pros of having a furry friend and a companion like a kitty outweighs any con. You will meet other pet owners who will help cat sit. You will have friends who offer to house/kitty sit. You'll meet neighbors who will come and help--you can travel AND have a kitty :-) And also remember that with all the shit 2020 has thrown at us all, you can adopt and rescue a kitty who otherwise doesn't have a furever home and make something really specail about 2020 afterall. rescue cats are the best! my piece of advice would be to not send to much on toys and things, you'll find they will amuse themselves with a paper bag or piece of string and all the toys will get little attention :) sending love from New Zealand, i couldn't imagine the stress and uncertainty you're going through but hopefully you'll have a little fur baby soon!

Hi Lizzy, so excited for cat updates! We recently adopted two kittens from London Inner City Kitties who I would highly recommend. They have a range on the website and I think are based around East London. They are such a fantastic charity - it did take us a few weeks (back in July/August) but I think that was because ours are kittens.
