Just wanted to say thank you. I've been watching your videos, but haven't been able to say thank you as I watch from my tv. I've been looking for a Turquoise for some time and not wanting to spend a lot for a "maybe". Phthalo Blue Turquoise seems to be what I want. BTW, your whole series is excellent. BTW I would not have started watching if I didn't love your paintings!!
You are welcome Jan. I'm glad the videos are helpful. I love the Phthalo Turquoise, just know it won't go as dark as regular Phthalo blue.

Happy that I’ve found you! Thank you for your generous instruction. Can you paint a rainbow demo? I have tried several videos but all seem either difficult to follow or quite garish

Update- I had made a mixing chart with PB16 Phtalo blue turquoise or as DaVinci calls is Phtalo turquoise. There are some great dupes. One is mixed with Phtalo blue gs and it lightens for a Cerulean non granulating sky. To make a light cobalt turquoise I mix PB 16 with Naples yellow and it looks the same. The greens are lovely whether using quin gold or Hanza yellow deep and I like it with burnt umber spiked with a bit of nickel azo yellow to overcome the desaturation of the reddish in that but even the muted form makes for great background trees and scenery. I don’t use a purple convenience color but I do love Cobalt blue(violet) but not cobalt violet and it makes a lovely granulating purplish color. I love this pigment so much that my cobalt turquoise might be losing it’s spot. I enjoy granulating colors more in the blurred backgrounds, I love the color of Cerulean but not the grittiness so this pigment is just lovely.
Wow, you have been exploring with PB16 Jennie! Thanks for all the color mix ideas. I will have to give some of these a try. After making the video, I got busy and haven't gotten back to trying other mixes, but I do have the Phthalo Blue Turquoise on my palette now. I placed it where my Manganese used to be.
@@lorrainewatry_watercolors I have been doing more swatches with the PB16 DaVinci and love the mixes with nickel azo yellow. I get a green gold to a sap green to a forest green with a bit of burnt orange. I get a complete neutral with pyrol scarlet which is comparable with the DS neutral and it can be leaned warm or cool. Incworks on UA-cam will be swatching out more on this lovely transparent colors. And if one ever wanted the granulation, a true Mars black would make it look pretty cool. Maimeri and Renesanz makes a true Mars black. Granulation liquid doesn’t really work but it’s cool to add that black to colors like magenta, burnt quin scarlet, even phalogreen. So it would make great crackly backgrounds if one likes that. But yes I have been amazed at how close this PB16 relates to a true cyan blue.
I guess that there is a new Fabriano Artístico wc paper block out now referred to as “Enhanced”. The sizing is vegan and so it might last longer on the shelf without getting those lovely (sarcasm) areas where the sizing doesn’t work. It claims enhanced lifting ability. I have not tried it yet. There largest block was 14 x 20 I wish it was 16 x 20 but I plan to try it. Fabriano makes Kilimanjaro also but this “enhanced” wc paper intrigues me. I noticed that Blick’s carries it in hp and cp and I see no reviews yet. I just hope that the lifting ability isn’t so much that it prevents glazing because it picks up the previous layer even if dried. That’s what annoyed me with Indigo paper and one couldn’t scrub it cause it would just pill everywhere. Anyways I enjoyed your video. I hadn’t previously used PB16 but it is definitely worth a try. Thank you for your lovely videos.
Thanks for the Fabriano Enhanced block info Jennie. I hadn't heard of it. I have ordered a small one to try out. I saw that Blick also had it in rough, too (not that I like rough for what I do). Hopefully lifting and glazing will work on this surface.

Lorraine, how do you remove and replace colors in your palette? I have some colors I want to replace and don’t know how to go about it. It’s not like removing a pan or half pan.
Hi Christina, I wait until the pigment in the well is completely dry and then I use an old table knife to pry up the paint. I then clean the well and squeeze out the new pigment. I have never had an issue this way. However, if you are using the honey based watercolor that doesn't ever really dry out, you would probably have to scoop out as much as you could with a spoon or a palette knife and then clean the rest out with a towel.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, most of the paints in my main palette with wells happens to be M Graham and is very sticky. It’s going to be a messy project. Thank you for the advice.
