Thank you Al. Our local butcher who raises his own animals, butchers them, as well ad using local farmers is retiring due to health and age. So he is selling his business 😥. Hello .tomato plants don't like their foliage and flowers to get wet. Water the soil only careful not to splash onto the leaves. disease spread from the soil that way. I grew up next to the Italian market growers here in Adelaide south Australia
Your video is the first one I watch in the morning with my coffee😊 I will never have chickens, goats or live on a farm, but love to learn from watching your video’s Al! My fingers are crossed I get some vegetables to grow in my garden.Thank you for all the hard work you put into your video’s and sharing your life with us!
My grand dad put a bit of apple cider vinegar in his chickens water when they slow down. About a tablespoon to a gallon. Helped extend there laying . Might be something worth looking into. Thank you again for sharing the joy of your farm makes my day.
Not sure if you have discovered the problem with the egg shortage yet but one theory could be that you need to up their feed or protein consumption. Since moving them to fresh grass the chickens will need more protein to offset the higher intake of grass during the summer months to maintain a high egg production. You could either feed a higher protein feed ( I like 22% protein during the summer) or up their feed consumption by giving them free choice layer and feed some scratch whole grains as a treat. Just a thought.
Move the big goats to the NYC patch, they will clean up the weeds that the chickens won't eat and do it before the weeds bolt to seed! Just temporary (a day) you won't even have to move the chickens. Just a suggestion. Have a great day ! "Hope" it works!
My guess would be that they are not getting enough to eat, probably moving them will help. They sure attack the feed when you throw it out. Willow is a good momma. She’ll protect her babies from the bullies.
I’ve been waiting for this day- wohoo! It was fun watching them together. Momma Willow was doing great in protecting them😍😘 And It’s so cute how Hope follows momma Al everywhere 😍😘
Good morning! My chickens are molting. Also...they don't like alot of noise. With all the concrete work lately. Can cause stress. Hope they settle down in a few days. We love your channel...God Bless💕
I know the chickens in New Yolk City have plenty of grass to eat but I feel like they need more feed to give them the nutrients they need to produce eggs. Also when they molt they slow down on egg production and also if there’s a predator around. You could try a Grandpas Feeder inside the coop. That way they will have access to food all the time. They are awesome feeders. Look them up on Amazon and see what you think. Love the goats all playing together. So sweet. Love your family. Have a blessed day.
The goats were so good with the babies (with owner supervision anyway). Willow was not over-protective, just protective the right amount. The cute little Diva Willow is a great mom. She seemed the most protective of Lil Man, which was interesting. He is such a pretty baby. lol Lots gentle head butts. Just getting to know each other.
2 questions, 1: Are you still thinking about Hope being able to follow you around the homestead? I think she would love it. 2: This has to do with the ads. Is it beneficial to you if we watch the FULL ad? If so I will.
Yea, to the goat feeder extension. Al and Gina y’all are the best parents always showing Livie how to do all the chores. I love your patience with her in the kitchen while cooking and also outside doing chores. My husband and had a wish list of places to visit on a fall vacation to New Hampshire and Vermont area, but sadly he passed away in Oct 2018 just two days after our 45 anniversary. I still plan one day to drive from Georgia to visit the area.with my 20 year old granddaughter. Thanks for sharing your videos, they make my mornings very pleasurable. God Bless you all🍓🍉🍎
Al I don't know how you aren't exhausted from all the projects and running around! You and Gina don't get any real days off or anything this time of year and you both are an inspiration. I really hope you can get the ladies laying again soon! Your vlogs are always educational and often the 1st thing I watch in the morning will my 1st cup of coffee. You have been slightly delayed to a bit later now because I have too much fun watching my baby ducks swimming around eating breakfast and feeding the geese and chickens! Thanks as always and God bless!
Bless little Willows heart for giving you milk she is so smart and sweet!!! Those baby's chatter is just darling LOLOL makes one want to take them home LOL. When is the deck off the house going to be built for patio furniture, umbrella, and grill??? As if you don't have enough to to LOLOL
Good Morning 🌞 Al... I'm feeling like a combination of the move of NYC and the loud noise, beeping and vibration of the Heavy Equipment threw the momentum, and peaceful environment the chickens were used to. I have not heard "Moose" cockadoodledoo in almost a week. Once you move them they'll get their "Rhythm" back.😊
Bagged grass clippings work amazing for weed control in gardens. 6-8 matches stuck in the ground around each pepper helps supply them with sulfur. We use 1'' pvc pipe and arc them over the strawberries, then the net. Great video and thumbs up Lumnah Family !
When y'all were eating your hamburgers I swear my stomach started growling. Its 5:30 am and had to get up and eat. I was raised on a small almost farm & I'm 73 now and Your video today made me homesick for my childhood! ( if that makes sense). Love your farm but it's way too much work for this old lady, but I sure enjoy you & your family. Have a great day!
Just some thoughts on what may cause the decrease in egg laying: Maybe the nest boxes in NYC are too hot during the daytime. Hens won't want to lay in there if it is too hot. Heat stress can cause them to stop laying. Perhaps it would help to clean the old poo out of those boxes, too.
I am so happy to see your homestead all dry and sunny ☀️. I enjoy watching you guys working together around the farm, it’s all blooming nicely, now. It will be a real blessing to have that new barn up before next winter ❄️. What will you use the old goat barn for? Has Olivia finished with school now?
Well now, I'll have to say your rolling "deck" is ideal. Now you can move it to the shade, to the sun, to where ever you want. Gina looks mighty happy with it too. Glad all the goats got along on their first visit together. Have a Blessed day.
It is si nice to see the progress in the farm. You all are so healthy and teaching your daughter each day about animals. What a love,y video today. Thanks! ♥️🕊☺️🙏🌞
@@usbpphillips They can actually breed him to two of the does. Hope and either Blossom or Buttercup (I never remember which of them is Willow's baby) I really think he & Hope would make beautiful babies.
It would still make more sense to have a buck that can be bred to all the does he's keeping. Bucks are expensive to keep between feed and damaged fencing.
would keep 2 bucks- one for one doe line and the other for the rest. If you have only 1 buck, very quickly will no longer be able to breed at all once the original moms are past their prime.
Does can breed for quite a few years. I've got a 9yr old that gave me triplets this year. Bucks can be dangerous and destructive, even when handled daily, and keeping 2 just doubles the expense for a job that is done once a year.
When you went to pick up eggs they all ran towards you looking for food. Hungry. I believe that's the problem. Hope your feeding more helps. When we had hundreds of free range layers (no fences) they always had feed available also. There isn't enough pasture to satisfy the need. Cleaning the waterer regularly helps.

Al, Another great family day on the farm. It's really rewarding doing things together. We find this even on our small allotment. All the goats were so polite with each other beginning to establish their hierarchy. Little Man will not be bested! I got my grass cut ahead of a heavy rain warning. 8-10cm overnight. Ran out of strimmer string and stamina! Certainly have not run out of rain! Regards to all. Stephen.
It seems hope is soooo friendly with the babies... I didn’t see her make any aggressive moves toward the babies, just curiosity. I hope she keeps that trait of gentleness because she might even make a great nanny goat if you ever need one.
Look at all of those goats! You're gonna need a bigger barn! Sweet little Hope was so good around the babies. Hopefully she'll be a better Mom to her babies in the future that Tillie was :)
Its pure joy to watch your vlogs when entire family is working together for a beautiful goal, specially little Olivia. Lots of best wishes to you guys from India!!!
Looking good! For a tee shirt, how about a picture of the white chicken.... Over the top of the picture have "crazy like a..." Under the picture have "white chicken" Be blessed!
Gina looks so happy to get her garden going after such a long winter. I personally finally got my garden in. after all the back and forth with the weather. I guess mother nature just wasn't sure if she wanted to let go of the cool weather. :) Good luck on your new garden. Looks like you are finally going to have some nice weather.
I love modern steaders like you. I hope to retire to a small farm with goats and chickens. I can't wait to make that happen! Thanks for sharing your awesome life with us!
Can the babies have the ball to play with? Yay! Thank you for moving the pig's feed pan away from the wire! I'm not a homesteader but I've been thinking that NYC must be needing a good spring clean out and possibly add another limb to roost. I'm thinking they may be stressed from being overcrowded. But what do I know... Blessings on the work of your hands Mr. Al!
Went to visit my Aunt and cousin a couple days ago, a friend of theirs dropped in, she mentioned how much she loves watching UA-cam families. I stood up and showed her my beautiful Lumnah Acres Orange tee, she went on her phone and subscribed after I told her all about your farm and cooking and that I’ve made your delicious bread several times. ❤️😍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Enjoyed the video. Great seeing Willow protecting her babies. Looking forward to seeing some wood go up on the barn. I just ate breakfast and seeing those great looking burgers I want to eat again lol. Y'all take care and God bless.
You don't want knotweed on your property. It spreads very fast and very, very hard to kill. Mowing it down just helps spread it. Took me three years with very strong chemicals to rid the knotweed on my property. Roots can grow 20 ft down so pulling doesn't work. If you let it grow it suffocates out all native plants. It was the plant from hell for me. :( Our barn building starts next weekend. Im not doing concrete though.. My goats one shed has concrete and the floor was very cold for them in the winter (we're in NY) even with a thick layer. Their other shed with dirt floor is more comfortable and their pee drains better. Cant wait to see your barn go up! Have a nice day!
If only they knew someone who had some goats... Supposedly, you can kill knotweed without chemicals, but you have to be very persistent. Eventually, the rhizomes will get overtaxed and not be able to regenerate. Supposedly. If anyone is up for the job, it would be goats. I wish I had one or two for my knotweed and honeysuckle invasives, but I'm not ready for goats in my life just yet.
What are you feeding your pigs? Do they get any organic food? Like left overs and roots ? I do love your flat bed wagon ! Nice to see the goats getting grass clippings and leaves .
Did you notice that Rebekha Rhodes is using your cucumber planter and trellis? I got watching you older video's and saw she really liked that idea and now she has implemented it for her kitchen garden.
Willow says don't mess with her babies! She is such a good mommy. Gina sure can work that weed wacker well. The plants are looking good as are the raised beds. Love seeing them and of course the animals. The pigs are getting long for sure and growing so fast. I will miss them later on, but boy will they be good eating! That crazy white chicken just cracks me up every single time.
The construction equipment and everything will cause some stress to the chickens and hurt the egg production. You could also have something going in the coop and just taking eggs right now. I had to deal with that awhile back. I believe it's mostly because of the construction and equipment that has been going on there. I'm not sure if that weed has anything to do with it or not. Have a great day and enjoy the rest of the week.
Here is a trick that will start them back laying go to the store and get a cabbage head hang it up in the coop let them eat that they will start back laying.
Are you going to be breeding Blossom and Buttercup this year? Sure hope so. It's fun to watch you grow your herd! We know Hope has to wait until the following season because she is too young, but I can hardly wait since I have been into her story since before she was conceived! Love that little goat! Thanks for loving on her so much.😃💜💜💜
Figaro the guard cat on duty again. Al, how did your work crew do helping you exand the one side of the goat feeder. Lol. They looked like they were doing a good job. Lol.
Won't be long before the goat feeding stand will need to be longer to accommodate everyone. Love the videos, animals, the work, the whole farm and of course all you guys!!!
All your babies are looking Beautiful 💖💖💖 can't wait to see the Barn when you are done, heehee bet you can't wait to see it done to . Be ever so Blessed ❤ ❤
Not sure if you folks have access to any wild Bird Vetch but our birds thrive on the plant.. And seem to produce very well with the addition along with their other feed.. Especial during winter, as we harvest vetch in Autumn for our long winter months here in Alaska..
Raise your hand, if when you broke yolk, a burger fell apart or that piece of pie stuck to the pan, that becomes “your piece” because you want your family to have the best! 👍 It was funny watching the big goats meet the babies, for the most part (with willows guidance) they were playing nice, and just being goats. Willow is a very good mama. It won’t be long before little man will be trying to mount one of his sisters, do you have a buyer lined up or keep him in the baby pen?

Yes, it is best to watch the entire ad. Sometimes, if the ad is long, I'll go do a chore, etc and let it run (like we used to do when watching tv).
You only need to watch 31 seconds for UA-cam creator to get benefit.

Its pure joy to watch your vlogs when entire family is working together for a beautiful goal, specially little Olivia. Lots of best wishes to you guys from India!!!
Looking good! For a tee shirt, how about a picture of the white chicken.... Over the top of the picture have "crazy like a..."
Under the picture have "white chicken"
Be blessed!
I like that one too
Crazy like a modern homesteader
Blossum and Buttercup seem like the 2 evil step sisters and Hope is kind and carefull to the baby goats
It is best to water tomatoes from the bottom or else you will get mildew on the leaves
I love the way momma willow went after the goats when they wanted to head bump her baby goats!!
Little pea she is always the first to do new things, she is such a little darling. I like cwc and moose. SHIRTS YES PLEASE
Don't squish the burger patty Al!!! It takes the moisture out of the burger my friend! Great video.. love from Alberta Canada.
Love your videos and your family. Keep up the good work.
Our barn building starts next weekend.
Thank goodness you had some nice weather today
What are you feeding your pigs? Do they get any organic food? Like left overs and roots ? I do love your flat bed wagon ! Nice to see the goats getting grass clippings and leaves .
Did you notice that Rebekha Rhodes is using your cucumber planter and trellis? I got watching you older video's and saw she really liked that idea and now she has implemented it for her kitchen garden.
Willow is such a good Mom!!
Moose is the Man! Moose says He is so happy that this time, Spring has sprung for real! 'Bout time, you are late Mr. Spring!
Jeff Perry he’s done that before. A lot of chickens are going broody this time if year. Maybe that’s it?
Are you going to be breeding Blossom and Buttercup this year? Sure hope so. It's fun to watch you grow your herd! We know Hope has to wait until the following season because she is too young, but I can hardly wait since I have been into her story since before she was conceived! Love that little goat! Thanks for loving on her so much.😃💜💜💜
should keep little man.. and later down the line breed with hope
Figaro the guard cat on duty again. Al, how did your work crew do helping you exand the one side of the goat feeder. Lol. They looked like they were doing a good job. Lol.
Its grilling season year round ☺️...there is no finally. Snow rain sleet don't matter lolz.
Correct. If the grill is buried in the snow you dig it out.
Its ALWAYS grilling weather!!
You forgot to grill the buns! LoL. Looks yummy
Al, when you opened the door to NYC, in my head I heard "Charge!"
Not sure if you folks have access to any wild Bird Vetch but our birds thrive on the plant..
And seem to produce very well with the addition along with their other feed.. Especial during winter, as we harvest vetch in Autumn for our long winter months here in Alaska..
You're homestead really is blooming and thriving! Great to see family time as you work on the homestead together. Makes it more fun! :D
"You following your mom, hope?"
😂😂😂💀
Raise your hand, if when you broke yolk, a burger fell apart or that piece of pie stuck to the pan, that becomes “your piece” because you want your family to have the best! 👍 It was funny watching the big goats meet the babies, for the most part (with willows guidance) they were playing nice, and just being goats. Willow is a very good mama. It won’t be long before little man will be trying to mount one of his sisters, do you have a buyer lined up or keep him in the baby pen?
We are definitely not morning stutters!😂We are retired. Love all of your videos! Great family! This is what America was and should be about.
have you been keeping up with the chickens minerals?
