I view Destiny as center-left and myself as center-right. I believe most people are in this area. I do disagree on most topics you mentioned today. (covid vaccines, Faucci, Schwab, Gates, anti-establishment, last election, abortion, Jan 6th and more) I would not have issue with you explaining your viewpoint on any of these subjects but I have don't mine as well which has lead to my viewpoint. We agree on many subjects as well (capitalism, guns and healing the country by listening to each other). I would love to take to you sometime and allow you to convince me as long as you agree to be open to my research as well. I think your message would be better served debating someone who is not from a more extreme view.
i really enjoy these videos where destiny is a guest on podcasts, especially whenever he gets to articulate his points in full without having to defend against attacks and interruptions from bad faith opponents.
@@user-nr2ku9dk9b so you don't like this type of video at all? i mean i like the crazy unhinged arguments, i was just saying i like this content as well.
It's aincredibly simple question. People like to complicate things in an attempt to obfuscate the obvious. Hydrogen - easy to define: a chemical element with atomic number 1. Hydrogen gas, H2, zero ambiguity. It's a clearly defined, and easy to define thing. A chair, like he says, is more difficult to define. But EVERYONE knows what a chair is. I'd challenge him to find someone who doesn't know... or anyone who is confused about it. Woman falls into the hydrogen category. Or, even if it's like chair, even though it's hard to define, we all know what one is. As George Carlin (or perhaps it was some else)... I can't define porn, but i know it when I see it.
Destiny is the only dude on the left that I can listen to. He comes with good arguments, he doesn’t ignore the points of the right or any opposing view to his. I can appreciate what the left believes in certain topics because of this guy.
He makes solid arguments which is a relief compared to the other 95% of leftist that are either retarded or extremely disingenuous I can’t tell sometimes. I lean towards a mix with mostly disingenuous. Destiny who puts in the effort and has a overall solid understanding of the more right wing views. But talking to your average leftist they are either beyond clueless to what people on the right think. There’s no way they can be that far off in their understanding of the right wing and not be doing it intentionally. But maybe they really are just that stupid? Idk.
@@FerociousPaul he isn't very friendly to the middle ground. As a right leaning person he worries me like Kyle. Destiny may disagree with me I can understand his side as he clearly states it. The whole intro is very well produced, especially at the end with the fade to the UA-cam thumbnail, plus the inserts and addition of music. You can really see that August would like to do more in terms of artistic expression, and I think he has a real talent for that. If Tiny would start doing interviews like street interviews, or in another field like video essays, August could really do some interesting things.
I am Conservative and I love Steven. Sure, we disagree on a lot of things but that is ok. We need to get back to being able to disagree with people's opinions yet still be able to be mature adults and even have good friendships. We may disagree politically on a lot of things but we can connect on a multitude of others things. I wish everyone approached politics the way Steven does. I used to be an abolitionist when it comes to abortion but it was Stevens debates with other pro-lifers that convinced me to loosen my reigns on access to abortion. I used to believe in NO exceptions at all and that getting an abortion should be a criminal offense. I was very radical when it comes to abortion. But because of Steven I no longer have that opinion. I actually like his 20-24 weeks or whatever it is. I still believe that abortion is wrong, but a woman should still have the choice to have one up to that point.
I’m a leftist but I agree: I’m so over the lefty echo chamber conversations. It’s more interesting and fun to actually talk to people with differing viewpoints, it’s how you get better at debating and also better at understanding why people develop different political views. Automatically shunning the opposing side is useless and juvenile.
And that’s the thing too about being pro-choice: you can still think abortion is wrong and feel however you want to personally feel about it but it’s just understanding that it’s up to each pregnant individual to make up their own mind about whether or not to terminate their pregnancy (within certain legal and medical parameters obviously).
Good for you! Unfortunately this is a culture war and your side has some interesting policies. While you guys try to pony us with ‘let’s hold hands together’ you’re upto trying to pass very interesting stuff. It’s a good thing we learnt from this mistake and this time we’ve got numbers on our side
“I’ve had a two day argument about what based means” is so real; I’ve had to explain it to my terminally offline friends on more than one occasion and the closest that I can get is “an opinion you think would be provocative but true” and it is a living definition
The blue hair is a 4D chess move imo. Its definitely there to serve as a contrast between expectations / stereotypes and reality. Hard left wokesters have this "look" to them at this point- its a very distinct style kind of like emo kid or punk rocker. The blue hair sends the wrong message to both sides and I think ends up serving Destiny well.

I think one the best points I heard from Destiny is that if we are going to live in a democracy, where we trust the people to make the most important decisions, then we have to be able to trust the people to have the most important conversations. Edit: by "democracy" I of course mean the relatively democratic system the USA operates under.
Unless of course they are “unhinged” progressives according to Destiny, but of course to him anyone who is an activist on the left have to answer for everything done by BLM, ANTIVA, LGBTQ or anyone on twitter with some random unrealistic take.
Destiny has been making sense lately spotting when your wrong and making change is a beautiful thing I wish more people could admit when you was wrong.
I love how destiny converses with others with different political views. He doesnt create a echo chamber and i love seeing opposing views going against eachother
Agreed I can't stand the brain dead position of "you shouldn't platform them!" It's way better to have someone debate them and eviscerate their arguments than to ignire them and let their bullshit fester.
Same! I try to do the same thing in my small sphere of people that I associate with on a regular basis. I clash politically and ideologically with pretty much everyone that I know in real life, from religion to philosophy to politics and yet I try to have a fair conversation with people when I disagree with them (rather than shouting them down or dismissing them). I hate an echo chamber where only people that agree with me are communicating; as someone that has changed their opinions on things many times, I see an echo chamber as the antithesis of a healthy intellectual life. I have only recently discovered Destiny, but this is my favorite thing about the guy; he truly seems to want to have conversations rather than an echo chamber, endless virtue signaling, or a shout down of people that differ in opinion from him; we DESPERATELY need more of this in our society.
Every time Destiny brings up the chair example about how language is malleable it is so cringe. The argument is that you can be a woman just because you say or identify as a woman. You can't be a chair because you identify as a chair. And you aren't a chair just because you think you're a chair. Language being malleable doesn't address the core premise.

Destiny's biggest weakness is a lack of skepticism when it comes to government institutions; given its track record in this country everyone should be highly skeptical of any claim of altruism coming from the US government. They work for corporations, not the people; the US government operates like an unregulated corporation.

And that's why most people will take you way more seriously than trolls like @just_a_turtle_chad. The difference with destiny is he is able to hear both sides hence why he was able to see that the Kyle Ritnehouse was self defense versus the others automatically throw him as a man who hunted down people
Especially on social issues, the problem is the massive equivocation between "freedoms." The right demands the freedom to enforce their specific religious and cultural beliefs on an unwilling majority, the center (which is all we really have here in the US) largely is asking, "Hey, let other people [abort/transition/love/marry] even if you disagree with it because it's not your choice what other people do in a free country." To say - or even act like - both sides are using the same definition of freedom is insane.

I prefer people who sell out for the 1% and accept their fate as puppets and bootlickers at least they are honest to themselves not the pubic of course those they need to sell the lie to.
You are not wrong but what choice do American's for example have. from 1981-2016 here is what we had in the white house. 8 years of daddy bush as vice president 4 years of him as president 8 years clinton 8 years of bush Jr. Had Hillary won the election is 2016 out of 40 freaking years outside of 8 years of obamba we would of THIRTY TWO YEARS of a bush or a clinton president or vice president. Really enjoyed Destiny being able to flesh out his ideas in this kind of forum but didn't like how he painted a broad brush of people on the right with Tate. I personally think Tate is a bad faith actor but to say people on the right can't pick and choose their opinions as individuals and instead if they are pro this they have to be pro that is relatively stupid and something I was shocked to hear from someone like Destiny. Not saying there isn't hyper-partisan individuals cause there definitely are but they are a small minority of the populace on both sides. Most people have varying opinions over matters and believing in one thing doesn't mean you believe in something else.

If I remember correctly, I think you misinterpreted his argument. I believe he is saying as long as you belive in the conspiracy that a small group of people essentially control the world and punching a narrative, you are almost required to buy into the whole package. Otherwise they are just cherry picking and thier belief becomes incoherent.
@@Wate Fair enough, I do hope I misinterpreted him but I don't know if because you believe in one conspiracy that you necessarily believe in all conspiracies that necessarily arise on one side of the aisle. Most time though the tin foil argument is usually only applied to those people who want to disregard someone entirely because of one stance on a particular issue. The guys talking to Destiny were trying to espouse that very stance by saying some people shouldn't be talked to because they considered him feel in the blank. Destiny pushed back against that. I think the best way to get rid of bad ideas is presenting better ones to people. For the most part I believe Destiny believes that as well but in this interview, it wasn't so clear. However, he did just flat out say in that interview that I can tell all these other beliefs people have by if you watch or defend Andrew Tate. I just think that statement he made was strange for someone like Destiny who usually is fact based and doesn't make generalities about people like that.
That would be 100% correct. People on the right are like NPCs, they believe whatever lie Tucker Carlson spouts on TV without a single second of thought. Conservatives are reactionary, not intellectuals. The basis of their belief is always "i'm anti-X" never a reasoned position.
14:00 I think the most important thing for finding a woman is to have social hobbies. Do things that you like with other people, and just enjoy doing it, don't be thinking about getting a date. Some of those people there will probably be women, and they'll like your passion and you can bond around that. If you just go into a random place to pick up random people, it's very difficult to not come across as desperate or creepy or disingenuous. If you're in your element just having fun and doing things you like, worst case scenario you make friends and have fun, best case scenario people see you as fun and interesting and you make friends or find dates.
Destiny is a textbook Pseudo intellectual. The stream where he tried an IQ test, he was struggling, getting answers from chat, and quit the test early. Also, he knows barely anything about history, and historical figures at all. A very noticeable knowledge Gap.
If we're going to point fingers on the fracturing of our perceptions, I'd like to nominate the left as particularly responsible with its manipulation of language. We've seen so many words have their definition changed in recent years for blatantly political reasons. A particularly egregious example was the attempt to redefine racism in such a way only whites could be charged with it through the power+prejudice notion.
@@thrashingrage659 This is the most pseudo-intellectual writing I've ever seen. I think people had the right to hear from scientists who were skeptical about the vaccine, too, but they couldnt get that from mainstream.
I mean he has plenty of streams doing research, some of which are on this very platform, on this very channel. Similarly, IIRC his issue with Rogan is that he doesn't provide adequate push-back for his guests. This topic came up early in this video, while discussing Fuentes. If you are only giving a platform to extremists and not challenging their beliefs then that platforming might be irresponsible
Adult human female is the most comprehensive definition (and most accurate) for woman. As this has been the definition since the creation of our language, if anyone has a different definition, it’s their responsibility to convince others of it’s utility. Using language accurately isn’t bigotry.
@@rjjacob101 sure, I can agree with language evolving-but it tends to happen naturally. Like, after the first expeditions to the new world, sailors brought back Syphilis-but because it spread so quickly through the French population…it was called the French disease. As our technology advanced and we developed better understanding of virology and bacterial infection, the name naturally changed to fit the science. With words like trans-man, and trans-woman in existence, where is the utility in changing the definition of woman? How would you better define this word that is so well understood that children correctly identify and use it properly?
I would agree with you. I think adult human female should stay as a definition. I will definitely call a trans woman a woman instead of the trans prefix because it's respectable but I don't see why a definition of a word has to fully take into account every social and cultural thing. Trans people are so small part of total population that when the usage of a word woman (even against the definition) is required it's a fairly rare occasion and done out of respect. The word itself has nothing to do with legal rights or anything like that, nor it should.
@@antsman6795 and I may even agree with you that using someone's preferred binary pronouns may just make more sense in polite society. Where I have trouble is when people aren't free to address each other as they choose. To control society by controlling language is the definition of Orwellian.

All of the things Peterson talks about out side Psychology is insane thou. He massively grifts openly (he admitted it in Joe Rogan podcast) and is still going.
"it's complicated" is a very bad answer. A woman will always be an adult human female, a trans woman will always be a biological male presenting and living like a woman. I feel like the way that destiny talks about the divide between the left and the right unjustly equivocates the wrongs of the left and right in magnitude. As if getting a bit over zealous about protecting trans people from societal ostracization is as bad as advocating against democracy as a whole, siding with the KKK, and siding with neo nazi groups. Destiny acts like these disagreements are little things, but a lot of people on the right would not bat an eye if I was marched to a death camp. The GOP's obstructionist behavior and the Democrat's placid complacency while we are pushed in the direction of fascist corporatocracy are not equally bad. The GOP is far more guilty, as are the people who support it, quite often.
What we need to focus on is zero-point energy and enter into the new era of humanity. Most of the division is purposeful and is also exagerated when taking into account the basic bullshit news of the day that we yell at eachother about. In the grand scheme of things, most people agree with eachother about the things that matter. We need to make a purposeful effort to focus on things that we agree about and start from there.
@@Jesayou That is what zero-point energy is for. Wind and solar are terrible and nuclear is also stupid. 14:35 it's really crazy that you think this is a good point. Sure, language evolves, and if tomorrow half the population was adamant that manure piles should be included within the concept of "chair", then I'm sure they could bully everyone else into going along with it. however everyone would still be aware that there exists a true concept of "chair" which excludes manure piles. And this is the concept they would be referencing when they think of chairs. They could even come up with a new word for the concept, so as to avoid annoying responses like "you have chairs in your house?? but how do you deal with all the flies?". So the language evolved, but the concept remained unchanged. and all you managed to do was confuse and annoy people for a short time.
You make a really good point. I think they are trying to redefine at the conceptual level. Since they are human they can advocate for themselves and actually get into other people's minds through other methods rather than bullying. It makes the trans thing particularly worse than a manure vs chair moment.
Where you going with this? Like are you comparing the concept of chair/ manure pile to the current gender/sex or pronoun thing going on? I think you could probably go about in a better way. I mean your already framing it around fecal matter and something completely in a different realm than chair. Tree stumps can be chairs pretty easy logical leap, but no one wants to sit in shit, i mean unless your into it, godspeed to the scat lovers keep it safe and consensual and do realize that its a kink. Also what does jpeg mean now? Its taken on different meanings in different contexts, crappy deep fried picture "needs more jpeg". Can also be used in its originally term "make sure t save that image as a jpeg it makes it easier for me to import it." Also jpeg is a really new term 92 was when the format was created. Language finds a way to communicate based on previous understanding context and ton of things saying half the population can just bully the other half, I mean unless were talking 1984 but I really don't think thats whats happening I might be high and reading way too much into this. You say jpeg to someone in 1991 they are probably going to be annoyed because its a made up word that doesn't have concept behind it that people can reference. ALso also I used 1984 to not refer to the year but an idea or concept that involves big goverment in full control I assumed you know what i was talking about, semantics are never fun and usually devolve into i don't like the way your using a word.

@@Jesayou i think they are going for the redefining of woman as a concept to include people who identify as a woman which would not fit the common idea.
@@JesayouThey are just giving a hypothetical. It sounds preposterous but who knows what the future holds. Lets use a real example. Calling something "Fire" has become a complement in modern english rather than simply stating that theres a fire. That wouldnt fly (Ah look! Another word thats evolved) back in the day as a complement but likely with simple derrangement if there wasnt an actual fire. Now its fine if you want to complement something but its important to remember that fire is a thing that we need to be on the look out for and should not out right deny its true meaning. I believe the same thing applies to Man and Woman. People on the left, and the technically the right does this on the traditional end, are conflating the noun "man/woman" with the "idea" of how society views how a man/woman SHOULD be like. Im all for trans people and their struggle but to go as far changing the words will start to invalidate the struggles of woman, same sex marriage and yes, even trans struggles. You cant claim things like "Im not supposed to be a man/woman" while simultaneously saying that being man or woman doesnt matter. This whole take makes communication more complicated than it needs to be. Language helps organize inner concepts and thought and it falls apart if we haphazardly try changing base fundamentals. "Why should anyone care whats between your legs, you should like them for who they are, you're a bigot!" Easy to say to the perceived oppressive heterosexual man but you'd have to really bite the bullet for homosexuals since the same can be applied to them(since we've established that they cant control their sexual interest) and from it what it looks like it has. For a long time society in America has used these ideas of how people should be to validate their own existence. "Crying like a girl", "Man up", "Make them a man/woman tonight". Society as it is right now has evolved much further than our perceptions of these concepts. Woman can be become bread winners. Woman can vote and earn money and lead their own lives. Men need to learn more than just being bread winners now. We need to offer more than just a pay check. Offer emotional intelligence. Offer emotional security. This is on both ends of man and woman. Woman must now be learning to offer more than just emotional intelligence. But that doesnt mean we should ignore the differences. You wouldnt ignore that someone is black, hispanic, Asian or white, why should it be different for men and women? Theres a really good quote an indian comedian once said, I cant remember the name atm but it really stuck with me. Im probably paraphrasing but its essentially: If we can acknowledge that we are different and learn why and how we are different, instead of secretly knowing that we're different but pretending we're not different, perhaps we can finally be on the same page and be less different. We live in an amazing time where women and men can take so many different interests but we're living with obsolete notions of how we're supposed to act on those interests, which in turn negates the freedom we have to express these interests. This is supposed to be the land of the free. Men go do your nails, your hair, wear dresses, order sweet drinks at the bar. Women go chase that career, wrestle in mud, play videogames, wear jeans and dress pants, go weight lifting. Or dont! Thats okay too. Love whoever you love. Sex with whoever tickles your fancy and be proud of that. I want there to be competitions of how well a man get a date versus a woman with out the shaming. You had sex with a guy/girl? Hell yeah! Thats awesome! We need to stop with this whole mens body counts are to be respected but womens should be shameful. It wouldnt be fair the other way around. Men are still men and women are still women. Its fine if you want to transfer or do body mods but that doesnt change what these are. Especially since most people are fine with what they are.
I never hear destiny talk about this, but climate change really seems to be more of a problem. Kinda feels like we are all gonna burn alive on this planet
I mean, climate change can make some parts unhabitable, but certainly won't really hinder the human civilization as a whole, and eventually we will be advanced enough to solve the problem one way or another. There are a lot more pressing matters right now that can realistically end into ww3 or similar world ending scenarios.
@@AiNnyan1this is absurdist, given it is already threatening to make large portions of the US alone functionally uninhabitable within the next 2 decades, and we are one of the less projected-to-be-impacted areas. Destiny is the first progressive I found myself listening to incessantly. I grew up in a typical democrat household, democrat good republican bad. Never really challenged it or looked into politics growing up until I was 16, the same year trump got elected. It’s safe to say I fell into the trump train pretty hard. It felt really good too tbh, I felt rebellious. Everyone around me in school was the stereotypical screaming SJW so it was refreshing to engage ideas on the opposite end and it was extremely satisfactory. It wasn’t because I had bigotry or hate in my heart or some stupid shit, I genuinely believed I had found the truth that it was actually the democrats who were bad and the new age republicans were the answer. I don’t remember how old I was but I must’ve been 19 or 20 when I stumbled upon destiny’s content and man I’m so glad I did. I still don’t know where exactly I am politically, but I am glad to have found someone who can actually articulate his beliefs and isn’t so dogmatic as political pundits tend to be. Thanks Destiny, you’re my favorite girl in the world 💙
Destiny is generally reasonable but his understanding of linguistics reeks of wiki warrior pseudo intellectualism. 1. There are different sorts of definitions, the word chair being vague does not necessarily mean the word women is similarly unspecific, why in the world did he think that was analogous? This is like some sort of dishonest slight of hand - to begin with, there are different types of definitions… 2. Also, did he say that because some words have connotations in addition to their literal meanings, or there are some associated concepts, that words are difficult to define? Which he then uses to basically dodge the question entirely and just accepts nebulous usages of the word women? So, basically, just linguistic anarchy huh ? I feel like I’m watching Vaush. Destiny is a good example of why half knowledge is more dangerous than knowing nothing at all
Destiny's argument structure is really simple. There is a forest and a pasture. Destiny would say there is no difference because one blade of grass is the same with both of them 😂

It's aincredibly simple question. People like to complicate things in an attempt to obfuscate the obvious. Hydrogen - easy to define: a chemical element with atomic number 1.

I have only recently discovered Destiny, but this is my favorite thing about the guy; he truly seems to want to have conversations rather than an echo chamber, endless virtue signaling, or a shout down of people that differ in opinion from him; we DESPERATELY need more of this in our society.
i promise you he also creates his own echo chamber... he cant answer what is a woman without going all useless
Every time Destiny brings up the chair example about how language is malleable it is so cringe. The argument is that you can be a woman just because you say or identify as a woman. Especially on social issues, the problem is the massive equivocation between "freedoms." The guys talking to Destiny were trying to espouse that very stance by saying some people shouldn't be talked to because they considered him feel in the blank. August is so freaking good at this. Omfg!!!
I never heard anything that lead me to believe Destiny did much "research" on the vaccine. He pretty much made the generic arugments others made. I also dont understand what he has against Joe Rogan. He may disagree with some of his guests, but that would be like people sahing they dislike Destiny because of the people he talks to. I think people had the right to hear from scientists who were skeptical about the vaccine, too, but they couldnt get that from mainstream.
"reading wikipeda articles and stuff" oh well why didn't you say so?!
Joe doesn’t push back nor will he invite a guest that’ll push back on him.
It's wild that anyone would argue in favour of mandating vaccines at this point, and think they're well researched.

Adult human female is the most comprehensive definition (and most accurate) for woman. As this has been the definition since the creation of our language, if anyone has a different definition, it’s their responsibility to convince others of it’s utility.
Using language accurately isn’t bigotry.
Definitions sometimes change overtime, language is an evolving system, not set in stone.
There legally is no such thing as hate speech for Americans, but bans on correct but impolite speech are much more prevalent today than ever before. To control society by controlling language is the definition of Orwellian.

That's not his point though. He doesn't say he should stick to psychology because he's a psychologist. It's just that many of his takes outside of psychology are so badly informed. He clearly has as much or more ability than destiny to be informed on other things but he often does a poor job at it.
So, when the left says ACAB or looks at extreme ideas like "only white people are racist" thats not at all similar? Common now thats nonsense.

So you're a centrist?
@@xertz2502 sure call it whatever you want
Can I ask what points Destiny made that resonate with you the most?
@@jimmyneutron3282 I am really trying to understand your logic but, it really doesn't follow unless Im watching the things you watch because I don't see it in the world. The more you shout and scream about this the more it will start attracting people that will use it for attention but I do believe the vast majority of trans people and their right to the pursuit of happiness. I don't understand it but hey its a free country. If you can find love and happiness in this world your doing pretty good
@@Jesayou i think they are going for the redefining of woman as a concept to include people who identify as a woman which would not fit the common idea.
"Why should anyone care whats between your legs, you should like them for who they are, you're a bigot!"
Easy to say to the perceived oppressive heterosexual man but you'd have to really bite the bullet for homosexuals since the same can be applied to them(since we've established that they cant control their sexual interest) and from it what it looks like it has.
Im probably paraphrasing but its essentially:
If we can acknowledge that we are different and learn why and how we are different, instead of secretly knowing that we're different but pretending we're not different, perhaps we can finally be on the same page and be less different.
