This was before the switching service was launched, do you (or anyone else) know how switching worked before then? Did some banks have their own switching system
It’s so weird that Gareth Southgate made me think of these adverts. Only reason I came back to them, so weird how the brain works. Genuinely makes me think of Southgate worked for that branch of Halifax, he wouldn’t take part in these ads as an extra because he would think it’s unprofessional
In case you didn’t know, Halifax also made advertisements with lyrics based on the songs Sailing, Rhinestone Cowboy, Living La Vida Loca, Something Stupid and Who Let the Dogs Out! And that was only a few of them.
This ad great. One minute he's dad dancing in a crop circle, the next he's singing to a talking trout! And his face at 0:41 is just hilarious with that line of lyrics 🤣 Nixon approves, ARROOOOO!
I'm young enough that interest rates have been very low my whole life, and when in maths questions about compound interest come up, they often have interest rates like 4 or 5%, and I'm just thinking wow, tell me about this bank, that's an amazing rate
It's fucked up to think that on boxing day 26th December 2020 it will be 20 years since this advert aired and the world was introduced to an unknown bank worker howard brown who would become an overnight sensation because of it
I came here after the Gogglebox cast were watching first dates and he appeared on the show and I'm not ashamed LMAO
SAME!
Me too 🤣
Likewise 😀
Sammee
same LMAO
I can’t help but think of this ad whenever I see the word “extra” 😂
early 2000's adverts, (sigh) good times
I remember being about 8 or 9 and this absolute legend popping off on my TV. Bring back Howard! 👌
Remember Howard well, gave us a line of coke at the Christmas do. Was good shit as well
I'd like to think this really happened
Fucking hell 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's true. I was the Coke.
Omg what a tune fantastic advert omg love this one great singing and dancing memories
Its a cover song
sorry what?
Now you probably think it’s too tough to change?
All those debits, and credits, to be rearranged.
Lyrical genius.

What a legend. I miss this ad.

They REALLY liked those talking fish in the early 2000s didn't they? Every piece of media I view from that era has one somewhere
Memories.... Id always get this advert song stuck in my head and sing it at work all day

I remember seeing this advert when I was in London
Same here! First visited in 2003, this ad was always on. That and the Surf detergent and "I like Standard Life" ones. Good times.
