- Staff Captain Vangelis reaches a milestone with his 500th maneuver! Racking up 500 docking and undocking maneuvers can take decades!
Just to keep things interesting, it wasn't an easy one today in Costa Maya with 30 knot winds on the beam pushing us to the pier & current thrown in for good measure! He did an amazing job, as usual & it's an honor for us to all be part of his special day! #gobeyond #cruise #ship #captain #milestone #500maneuvers #proudmamabear @celebritycruises
Captain Kate, you’ve got leadership dialed in 💯.
Definitely! She shows a lot of positivity!
We have a “500” cake too! Your cake is much fancier than ours. We are celebrating our 500th load moved on our barge. Congrats!
Congratulations Captain

I was sailing on the Beyond that day, he did a great job it was crazy rough in port!!
Congratulations on reaching such an important milestone 👏🎉😊
I here you speaking captain Kate
Captain Kate where are you I am out by the pool on the boat you are driving right now and would really like to meet you and ask you a couple of questions you are my new hero ❤🎉😊
Captain Kate, can you explain what the different captain roles are please.
Hi captain kate. My dream is to work in cruise ship. I hope you will be my captian. 🥺
where did I c this b4? tt. congrats 2 u
I have a deep respect and slight fear of the ocean, but I love ships from the age of sail and cannon forward. I have never stood on a bridge to just to observe a marvel at the scene. On that ship I would sleep like a baby, and humbly ask the Captain, to allow me the chance to fulfill a childhood dream, a be able to see the bridge. 🛳 "clear skys and calm waters Captain Kate". Congrats to the new Staff Capatin as well! 😊💛
I just saw you
Sorry Kate, I would like to know is it possible to be cadet on big cruise ship?I have just finish my maritime studies, and I would like to start my shipping carrier on cruise ship.
when I saw Vangelis, I thought of the musician!!
Now, I want to see Mr. Vangelis do that docking procedure with no bow thrusters and ONLY differential power using twin screws, the wheel and no more. Regardless, congratulations on 500 dockings and not tearing up the boat.
He is Greek, that's child's play for him.
@@Iomar1975 eh, if you told me he was Norwegian then I'd agree, but the Greeks are no longer shipping magnates.....
@@alexnutcasio936 Firstly Greeks never ceased being shipping magnets. I don't know where you get your data from, but I'd double check them if i were you.
Secondly, I wasn't referring to that, I was thinking more along the lines of skills and competency. Through the years Greeks have shown they can do things at sea that few others if any can do. One such example is of a destroyer that lost its bow due to an explosion after it hit a sea mine during WWII, yet it sailed close to 800 nm in German-infested Mediterranean and managed to get to safety with the majority of its crew alive and well. And Captain Vangelis clearly illustrates the lineage he comes from.

@@Iomar1975 are you serious. A 30 some year old guy “ computer docking” a ship . If he did it without bow thrusters and no pods, I’d be impressed. Try using a wheel, differential thrust through twin screws and colour me impressed. The fact that he is Greek or anything else makes zero difference.
@@alexnutcasio936 So you hold him accountable to higher standards compared to others in his line of work? I don't claim he can perform miracles, but the fact he's managed to achieve such a milestone in such a young age is indicative of his skills and competency by itself.
Captain McCue's words describe it better than i could've: "Racking up 500 docking and undocking maneuvers can take decades!".
Not to mention he became staff captain in his 30s too.
Was he promoted to Captain?
NO, staff Captain is not a Captain. He's second in command of ship, below the Captain. He's the BOSS below the real BOSS.
@@alexnutcasio936 I know, I just thought he was being promoted to captain.
@@scripterryan7367 could be. RC is typically mum on those, but I could see a RC ship.
