Keep it up man! We need more people like you out here breathing life back into the game and the community. I feel like with the console releases, the series has such a great opportunity to be revived and to have so many people talking about it again but without anyone to explain so much of the unintuitive gameplay and mechanics, I’m worried that all the new potential players will just end up giving up or deciding not to get it when there is so much to love about this series and such a big potential community of new stalkers and fans like us out there who just haven’t experienced it yet for themselves

The whole trilogy was just recently released to ps4 and ps5 and I bought it so I could finally experience it for myself and I'm starting with Shadow of Chernobyl. It's an absolute blast, I'm loving this game. I've been playing for like two weeks and I'm already top S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and my next main mission is to turn off the brain scorcher.

I do appreciate the kind words but I don't think STALKER needs life breathed back into it any time soon. The community and fandom has been bustling and flourishing for years and years now, especially with its modding scene growing as large as it has.

@TooMuchSascha Wouldn't say I'm a fan of the game. I'm still on the fence about getting it. Do you know where I can find a console guide?

    • @TooMuchSascha
      @TooMuchSascha  2 місяці тому

      @@godlymegatron5698 I'm afraid I wouldn't know - I haven't played the console versions.
But I imagine they aren't changed very much mechanically from their original versions so any guides or rundowns of the PC versions at launch back in '07 should help plenty with the console ports!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has some factors when it comes to gun accuracy. I will list in no particular order.
    1. Gun condition:
If the gun condition is poor, your gun will shoot worse and the chance of it jamming is higher, vice versa.
    2. Stance
The best stance is using the iron sights or scopes, it has the best accuracy and moving while in use doesn't affect it.
Crouching and low crouching provide better accuracy than standing or moving only if you don't use iron sights or scopes.
    3. Fire mode
No difference in accuracy, but difference in recoil. Using semi-auto with guns that have it will return your aim exactly where it was before you shot very quickly, the recoil animation you see for the gun is often longer than the recoil itself, so firing shots very quickly is very effective while using iron sights or scopes.
Full-auto doesn't return your aim after shooting even once, and recoil gets significantly worse the more shots you fire without letting go of the trigger, I recommend shooting without using the iron sights or scopes with full auto, low crouched if possible.
    4. Ammo
Armor piercing ammo generally makes your gun slightly more accurate than normal ammo, just enough to be noticeable.
Shotguns have pretty bad accuracy with normal ammo, but use slug or dart ammo and they become much more accurate.
    5. Silencer
If you can add a silencer to a gun, you will get noticeably worse accuracy out of your gun, less damage, and slower bullet speed but less recoil.
Interestingly guns that have built in or non removable silencers don't have any downsides or upsides other than being silent.
That's about it when it comes to accuracy.

    • @TooMuchSascha
      @TooMuchSascha  3 місяці тому

Gun condition I had a sneaking suspicion about affecting accuracy - I assumed silencers reduced effective range but didn't know it affected spread!
And I definitely didn't know ammunition types affected spread/accuracy either! These are very interesting findings!

there's also low crouching, but I have absolutely no idea if it makes any difference, maybe that also could be a reason why it isn't included in this video

@Vinicius Ribeiro I think I was a bit focused on keeping the video short and neglected some needed depth, I wanted to go into the code and see about actual differences between player states regarding recoil. My next little STALKER info video is going to touch on Artifacts mechanics so I may amend this there.

@@viniciusribeiro7279 I wanna do one video about how the Stone Blood/Meat Chunk/Soul artifacts get used a lot by people who don't know what the negative effects are (and some of them unfortunately end up dropping the game) and another about how stacking certain ones can make damage heal you and repair your suit.

when an enemy has wounded animation it feels unvnurlenarble, i just tap with somewhat long breaks. and a full mag point blank is like 3 shots. just goota wait for the flinch animation to end. and boom

Do bullets penetrate surfaces? I've been wondering if wall banging the ai is a viable option or if you're just wasting bullets.

@@TooMuchSascha That's what I thought too but man if it is then this game was certainly way ahead of their time. I like that when you shoot an enemy that depending on the armor they're wearing even if it hits them it has a chance to ricochet off of them and fly off into the distance or in case of your guns accuracy dropping off when the bullets stray to the side and ricochet off the ground. It's a nice touch that most games at the time did not have.

@datTwoFacxdGamer Grenades also have actual shrapnel projectiles they spawn too. They thought of a lot of things with this game even if it was a bit too grand in scope for them to achieve.

Penetration happens and NPCs will even shoot you through some types of cover if they think they know where you are (or your niblets are poking out), but it seems kind of random. I think bullets might deflect after piercing something? And it varies a lot by the caliber and the object being shot. The AI is pretty smart, though, so they rarely sit in one spot when behind cover, and are likely to try and flank you. I usually just wait until I have a clear shot.

@@bloodleader5 Thank you for the info! I thought this was the case because when defending the rookie camp in garbage one of many times throughout my playthrough from bandits I shot at a bandit through those giant metal gates that are at the edge of the camp before the warp to agroprom as I saw his feat underneath the gate and could line up the shot and I sure as shit heard his death scream and watched his body flop but I wasnt sure if it was from that bullet or blood loss

There's a lot of mechanics that the game's translation and janky nature make kind of obscure - the other being the infamous Stone Blood/Meat Chunk/Soul artifact thing where people don't realize it only gives slow health regen and doesn't actually increase you HP.
I guess I can't blame you for not wanting to reinstall as it can be a bit much, but with the GOG copy being relatively easy to install, and the ZRP fan patch also being extremely accessible, I will say there has never been a better time to get back into the series. I hope you're able to find your way back to it at some point because it really is something special.

True that. Absolutely true. Especially now that Stalker is available for consoles. I seriously feel like I am actually venturing into uncharted territory in real life by playing this game lol. I’ve had to make the effort to step out of the story and do a ton of dedicated research, discovery, and adjustment myself and even despite being halfway through the game, there is still so much about it and the mechanics that I still simply do not actually understand and have had to just confusedly accept and ignore along with countless questions that have come up that nobody else has answers for.
There’s like nothing on UA-cam, hardly any English stuff, not even any walkthroughs really or tips and tricks videos…and when I look on the web for help and answers it’s like every other stalker fan is actually playing mods instead of the actual game. Hardly anyone talks or asks about the vanilla game and I’m sure most other people in my position ended up often just turning to mods and console commands to fix whatever issue they’ve encountered instead of actually keeping the game as it was released and trying to find the answers and figuring out how things are supposed to work or living with accidental mistakes that have played out and such. I’m hoping we’ll get more people like this poster breathing life back into the game and building up more interest and help and a community for the influx of new people who suddenly have a chance to actually discover and pick up the game like I did.
Just this video on it’s own is actually huge for the new potential players stalkers and their burgeoning community since the game’s been made available to the whole wider public because even though I eventually figured it out-for a very long time spent with the game I myself didn’t understand how shooting actually works in reality as opposed to how things are presented in game in this game and honestly…like my brother is really interested in playing Stalker too because of my long-held interest in the series but he is a more of a casual gamer who loves to play games but doesn’t get much time by himself and I honestly question if he would actually finish the game despite his interest and because of the gun mechanics in particular I was debating on telling him not to buy it because I was feeling like giving up myself and not recommending the game to him because of how shitty the gunplay was for the whole time I had been playing. The only reason I stuck around is because even I wasn’t having fun but I just refused to not finish it because I’m more of a reader/story person than a gamer and I’ve always loved the book it’s based on so it didn’t matter that I wasn’t actually enjoying the gameplay but most other people are not like that and a lot of gamers won’t have that same determination to keep on playing when they’re not having fun but things like this- actually understanding how things work completely changes the experience and makes the game enormously less frustrating and more enjoyable and immersive. Before figuring out the gun play it felt like a chore and I was completely detached from the game’s world. But now I know how great it actually is and I really want other people to discover and enjoy the game today and experience everything and find new stuff and creating discussions for more people to talk to about the game online and people sharing about their first experience with the series and the story behind it
