I watched GOT from the premiere until the end, never missed an episode. This didn't look good to me in the previews. I wasn't the least bit excited about it. After watching two episodes, I'm excited. Magnificent job by the directors, cast, set, everyone. The dragons are amazing and what I would expect to see from dragon lore.
This scene imo, is one of the THE MOST spectacular not just in the series so far, but in ALL of GoT. The tension, visuals, dialogue, performances... everything was FLAWLESS. I've literally watched this scene about 30-40 times.
You do realise that among actors there is also a great variance in what they are paid? I also don't think you even know what technicians are paid exactly. But whatever their salaries are I think the free market already perfectly has determined the appropriate compensation for their jobs.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the 4 actresses playing rhaenyra and allicent are not paid so much lol. Since they are not Matt smith level famous. Although they are the center of this show and are doing an amazing job.
It's so overrated how good actors that look good or look the part and have a good work ethic are incredibly hard to find, that's why they're expensive. They're also much less replaceable than someone working backstage. I get your point though.
That enclosed setup of screens is a genius idea. It can be used for movies, TV shows, everything. Also if a green screen is required the screens can be easily turned green anytime.👌
It was first developed by ILM for use on The Mandalorian, and has since been used on projects like Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Batman, and Thor: Love and Thunder!
AMAZING scene! It really displayed the true glory of what Dragonstone was and why it belonged to House Targaryen. Can’t wait to see what the other Houses look like!! Bravo!
@@Chu9947 yes Miguel doesn’t wanna have to endure the year long Filming process again that’s why he wasn’t the director for every got episode in the 8 seasons just the big battles , he’s said he will 100% still be working on the battles jus doesn’t wanna endure the full filming process
I’m this side of 70 (fem) watched GOT twice and just finished it’s replay again on Foxtel. Have watched the latest HOTD episodes 2 twice now and I’m just amazed at the visuals that are produced nowadays. These shows are all encompassing for me, not just the plot but scenery, background music, set designs, costumes, dialogue. The whole film industry has come such a long way in producing realistic ways to entertain and hopefully it just keeps getting better. Hats off to the creators.👍👍👍💯💯💯
The last few productions that used the Volume felt small, but I guess they figure it out because the scope they managed to convey in that bridge scene was amazing.
I feel _The Mandalorian_ is the one production that truly used Stagecraft Volumes to its full potential. One of the reasons it became favored over greenscreen beside immersion for the actors is that it casts the correct lights and color. With green screen/blue screen/chromakey the color of the screen is captured and reflected by surfaces so it became a crutch to light the scenes dimly and remove reflective surfaces. The Mandalorian used that advantage to its full potential by having bright scenes, vibrant colors, expansive tracking shots and long takes, and the protagonist wore a costume so shiny that it was practically a mirror.
yeah, the video wall has been a game-changer for these past few years. great to see a massive one come to life. i hope one day we have a video wall that will be available for small set production with affordability. i guess tech always makes it accessible for everyone in the future.
I loved their choice to open the series, Rhaenyra flying in on Syrax through the clouds and down into King's Landing. It had such a fresh feel to it and the visuals were stunning.
Phenomenal work. I was sceptical at first and GOT left a bad taste in our mouths. But I’m so happy to see so much care and life brought back in to Westeros.
I think the new technology appearing on films (and being created for them) is so magical. Years ago I thought games were the ones pushing for it, but despite being a more profitable industry right now, I think they still lag behind the cinema. HOTD and Dune are marvelous, and I wonder how Avatar will look like. This all makes me want to work in this industry and with its tech and sets!
Since Corlys happens to be Black in the TV show, he looks like a darker version of Ezekiel from The Walking Dead. I actually dig Ezekiel with his tiger and his love for Shakespeare.
I legit they shot that shit on location. Everything looks so real. I kept looking at the flames in the distance they looked real & not fake. I even peeped at the water, everything looks so good.
GOT Daenerys dragons are just 6 or 7 years old. but even their smallest ones are much bigger than all of the known "House Of The Dragon" show's much older & fully adult Dragons. Is HBO having a budget problem?
Despite Dumb & Dumber ruining the last two seasons of Game of Thrones OG, House of the Dragon so far has been absolutely awe inspiring. The production quality, the acting, everything, is just awesome. House of the Dragon redeems Game of Thrones for me.
Laena asked about *VHAGAR.* When Vhagar eventually battles Caraxes, she's twice the size as him. Of course, viewers weren't paying attention to what Laena was saying at that moment.
@@tymac9127 I think its more expensive to go to multiple countries and book these locations to film than use few screens and VFX. I think thats why GoT was so expensive to make
@@mooma0912 no it's not more expensive than using CGI the first season if GOT had a budget of 60mill and HOTD has 200mill and the cgi looks terrible especially for some dragon shots.
Hopefully this cuts down on production cost keeping it more in studio rather than multiple different country locations, I know HBO was getting sick of paying so much per episode the last few seasons of thrones
The name of the VP of Virtual Production at Warner Brothers (at the 0:39 mark) was spelled wrong. His name is Ryan BeagAN. Not BeagEN. I should know because I’m his uncle. Ryan has been spelling it with the “an” for close to 40 years. His father (my brother) and myself have likewise been spelling it for Over sixty years. I know phonetically it last syllable sounds like ‘en’, but the old Irish name which our family name is derived from is O’BehAN. Just want to set the record straight.
But natural settings are not necessarily the better. Often theyre much harder to film in you can't control the weather or the site around your spot. Like this bridge path. I the real world you can't take every shot as you wish
He's still an EP and will be heavily involved in the show. I heard an interview with GRRM, he mentioned that Miguel was brought on later as co-showrunner. I think that was to placate HBO because they knew Miguel, where as Ryan is less well known. Now that the show is a success, they know Ryan doesn't need a babysitter.
