    I always pull the irons Andy even though I hit the driver straight. This is a super video for explaining and after just a few swings at home I see that I am wrong with the shoulders and the grip. This is a video I have been waiting for as it is very precise with explaining what I need to do with the swing, thanks mate.

    So many great tips in this video. Addresses not only the subject matter of the video (how to stop missing wedges) but so many other essential points too, such as the relationship between path and face and transitions. Relevant both to new and experienced golfers as well as low and high handicappers. Top work 👍

    Hello Andy , I am a decent golfer ( 7 hp ) but I have always been plagued by wedges pulls.I got rid of this flaw by lifting my hands at address ( automatically
    the wedge club head opens up , it is easy to notice this with a magnet ) and changing my swing ( only with the wedges ) so my backswing is steep and the downswing is shallow ( A Swing of Leadbetter, Jim Furyk, Matthew Wolff, etc,etc ).That said I totally agree with what you said on your video, I have just used a different method

    After a 33 year hiatus from golf, a couple of weeks ago I had my first lesson in 37 year, and despite already knowing all of this, subconsciously I was swinging slightly out to in, and I'd been working on neutralising my swing for months; 8 months ago, when I first started playing again, I was slicing the ball badly, I then got into a bad habit of strengthening my grip to compensate, resulting in a pull or a hook. I knew it was time for a lesson, but I have to say, the best thing I've found for this problem is the GEM training aid. Coupled with this knowledge, it's got me into the lower 80s on seriously hard courses. It's a work in progress, but I feel that just setting up with the GEM before I play gets me to be much more conscious of that correct move. Great video, thank you for making it!

    Andy, I have suffered from this exact problem, but lately, I have been setting my club in practice swings at the bottom, then turning to the top of the swing, bringing it down the same and I must say I'm hitting it straight but more consistently. As you have said, the distance to start with was shorter, but now, because the strike is better, I'm hitting my normal distances.
    A great explanation and of great use to a lot of us hackers😂❤❤❤

    I feel that when I hit pull shots it is also because I don't weight shift onto a firm left side which allows the right side to overpower the left. If I concentrate on the weight shift to the left at the start of the downswing this helps stop the unwanted right shoulder move.

    I have been searching for a cure to iron pull and driver's slice for over a year. Especially when I'm getting tired. The trail shoulder turning down and not around (horizontally) is the cure. It allows straight club path. I find this explanation useful: if you turn your trail shoulder around horizontally, then your upper torso and arms are turned left and off target line, and your arms swing and are in a left direction plane. Turning your trail shoulder down prevents this early upper torso twist to the left. You're welcome

    • @mitendavda1095
      @mitendavda1095 Рік тому

      Thank you for engaging! My club face is open on the way down so its a last second compensation. Currently my coach has me working on a more neutral path (exaggerating the out to in), attack angle and face staying more neutral. Does that help? @@andycartergolf

    • @andycartergolf

    My bad shot is that I Pull , Hook my driver, or what I call 3 of the tee !
    You did mentioned it in the middel of this video but did not mention it again.
    I am a 10 handicap player with a good short game .

    It’s as if Andy knows my swing faults 😮 I hit 72, then a 77 then 85, the 85 contained 3 straight pulls = 1 lost ball, 1 disastrous bunker plug and a further 2 drops shots etc etc all from 3 pulled 8 & 9 irons, and yes; my bad driver is a pull slice 😢 I am currently8 hcp but I feel I should be about 4. The pull is killing me. 290 drive, 80 yards to the green, second shot pulled into the bunker left of the green, realistically a 5 maybe even a six, it’s sooooo annoying 🤐
