- LCD monitor disassembly. Have you ever wondered what is inside an LCD monitor? In this video I'm taking apart a 2209WAF DELL 22 flat panel LCD monitor which is relatively easy to open.
Remember: LCD monitors are not intended to be tampered with, and improper handling of the inside parts could result in SEVERE INJURY. You should only do this when you have a basic understanding of electronics and use common sense. Among other things, inside the display is a high voltage power supply that can potentially maintain an electrical charge even after the display is disconnected from the wall power. The LCD panel is made of thin glass that can be razor sharp and broken CCFL lamps are toxic and you can cut your fingers.

This worked pretty much the same for a E1909Wf. A few years ago because I suspected I had bad capacitors and forgot how to disassemble it and now is not powering on again and I suspect is the same problem, you saved my life since I can't live with only one monitor and the other backup I had died

Good morning mate. How lucky I was, I've had this monitor for years and I didn't know how to disassemble it! My mother left it exposed on the furniture in the sun and the screen was smudged (darker at the lower end of the left side 90º). Would I have to buy a new screen or a polarizer?
I want a monitor with CCFL backlight. How do I know which to buy?

Just bought a Dell monitor e2209wf saturday at a thriftstore for 25€ . It's as new .
My old Samsung syncmaster 225bw from 14 years old has stopped worked it has some smoke and fire odor so it's dead . Proof those old monitors were monsters and were solid like rock back then
Something we cannot say today some newer Led monitors are giving up after max 5-7 years .

Great job. If I have a white mark that appears on black backgrounds, do you think it's possible to repair it? Replacements are super expensive because it's an in-cell Thinkpad touchscreen.

No. This is not a Fresnel lens.
i have a similar dell monitor, the 24' version. do i have to take apart everything like this to get to the CCFLs? i need to change them. cant i just remove the big metal frame with everything sill on them? thx

I have a Dell 2009wt 20" monitors; and it has developed horizontal lines (bunched together, about 1/2" thick) across the entire with at the bottom of the screen, so blocking out any apps and anything in that area. What do you think is causing the problem?
Did you fix it? I do have the same problem with my display, vertical green line!
@@aubriewest1135 No. I couldn't get the screen frame off. However, I still use the monitor, though. I've moved the Taskbar to the top of the screen where I can now see it. If there are pictures and texts, etc at the bottom of the screen that I can't see, I minimise the screen. I'll be replacing it with a new curved shaped monitor as a Christmas present for myself.

Any chance you could disassemble a dell 1905fp? Got down to the screen but now several bezels and shells etc - I want to get at the backlights to test them?

@@k-nemo Thanks. The outer bezel doesn't come off as per your example because the screen pcb is attached by very fine tape. Does this, and the pcb, have to be removed to get at the inner bezels and then the backlights?

i have a question, its not that obvious to me.
Can i use vesa mounting on a monitor without the case/cover?
I want to have really raw look of my setup, i already have test bench instead of a case because i like how electronics look.
But will i be able to put it on a vesa monitor mount without the cover....?

hey, is there a way to convert a monitor to take power directly from DC? Like in LG monitors? Simply bypass the inverter from 220 (or 110) volts and use the required power in DC? Benefit is huge - u can power ur monitor from a power bank.
I got an upgrade of my monitors from 22inch LG to 27 inch dell - Dell S2721DS but those dells connect directly to 220 volts outlet. What the shit. Now I cannot power them from power bank, or if powered from Bluetty power station, there is only an option to power them from a AC plug. Which means doble conversion of power. Which is unnecessary and inefficient.
Monitors use only 15 W of POWER. It's same as the old monitors, but can't power them cuz there is no DC plug on the monitor... So, I'm searching for a way to bypass the innate converter and supply the DC power directly. Any experts that can help me please?

How old is that monitor? The CCFL technology is a little dated, but I think the CCFLs give better lighting, as it's more uniform. Thank you 🤓
4:25 Does CCFL backlighting use gas for their lamps? Also, the LEDs shown right after the CCFL on this video are for direct-lit or edge-lit type of panels?
CCFL has gas inside.
I showed the LEDs to show the newer solution.
