- Which is your favourite Filipino cultural dance? This parody is about the cultural dances of the Philippines, all to the tune of Jason Derulo's 'Take You Dancing'.

At least one dance from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao Group of Islands of the Philippines, and at least one from the Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines, Christian Filipinos, and Muslim Filipinos are represented here! The dances are also from, brought to us in, developed and evolved from, or are indigenous or native from the different historical time periods of the Philippines from the Ancient/Archaic (Precolonial/Pre-Hispanic/Pre-Western) and the Hispanic/Spanish Colonial Eras of the Philippines!

Yes, very impressive. Catchy, funny, beautiful, classy, great camera angles, stir the emotions, educational with the language/people/places, and creative. Hard work, very professionally done. Simple but effective lyrics, makes me want to get up and dance too.
1:50 I just realized how some of our dances are really challenging. Especially tinikling, sayaw sa bangko and pandango sa ilaw.

I am proud to have learned most of these 🇵🇭 folk dances from elementary to high school. Growing up in a small town of Dauin, when there was not much to do for teens in summer, we joined the summer class in folk dancing. Looking back & living abroad 🇸🇪 I am proud that I could tell to anyone about our folk dances. I hope the schools in Philippines still have folk dancing included in their programs.

The 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗶𝗹 is a traditional 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 🇵🇭 that originated from the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, who are predominantly 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 ☪️. It is often associated with the 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 in the Philippines. The dance is based on the 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 📜, an ancient Maranao epic poem, which is a retelling of the 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 🏹, a 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗰.
So, while the 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗶𝗹 is considered a 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, it has connections to 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 🕉️ through the 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗰. The dance beautifully showcases the 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 🌏 and 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 of the Philippines.

Very informative. I'm half white and half Filipino but I mostly know my white side so this helps a lot since I did not learn what traditional dances of the Philippines were.

Mikey Bustos should be acknowledged as one of the “gateways” for tourist in the Philippines. Like my foreigner friends know the Philippines (besides me) because of Mikey and his songs and he is not recognized much as before now in the Philippines.
