Eraezr Dante's prophet and Greencurry are right. Nero's mother, and Nero for instance, didn't even exist when this game was developed. Also, it's well known that the event that marked Dante's and Vergil's paths, and culminated in Vergil's tragedy, was the death of Eva. In DMC1, when you fight Nelo Angelo for the first time, he sees the half of the amulet that Dante is wearing. It's clear that the memory of his mother, or at least remnants that have survived in his mind, affects him deeply (because she was the one who gave the amulets to the twins). He doesn't seem to recognize his own brother, or at least doesn't give any indication to, but the sight of an item that is connected to Eva is enough to send him into a state of agony. Also, I'm not sure if Dante blamed himself (if I'm not mistaken, he blamed the demons therefore he wanted to have his revenge on them). However, Vergil seemed to be the one to blame himself, believing that if he'd been powerful enough this tragedy wouldn't have happened so that's why his story arc focused on his obsession with power. He wanted to ward off himself and give up his humanity since in his eyes it was a weakness that only brought him suffering and loss. If he'd done it because he wanted to protect Nero's mom, he would have actually understood his human side and then DMC3 would be pointless. The game was all about the brothers having a different set of beliefs and the conflict that sparked from it. So, no, I don't believe it was because of Nero's mother. It'd feel like downplaying Eva's death and the impact it had on Vergil's life.
I would have thought it would have been cooler if he referenced DMC1 and said “rest in peace little chicken it looks like you found out the hard way”. Buttt this is a cool 2nd place tho

man....everything about this is perfect. the top of the tower illuminated by the full moon with it beginning to rain, the dialogue, the music, and of course the fight itself. it's just perfect.
The devil part in the end, so this is what dante meant in dmc5 when he absorbed the sparda sword by telling the bird that in his journey he got stabbed and jammed by a number of things that he don't know, then he asked himself why did his father gave him the rebellion sword, that actually triggers the devil part of him and this had already happened in the older series,.... And as a result he decided to stab himself with the rebellion just to discover what will happen 🤔 Interesting how the story between DMC series is so attached regardless the years gap between 'em
Nah it's more likely that he thought that if Yamato could split the demon and human parts of Vergil what about the rebellion turns out it's it's the opposite of Yamato cuz it lets you fuse things like home fusing with the Sparda and rebellion
@@derplololol9717 maybe Rebellion itself is dantes demon part, so when he stabbed himself he absorbed his demon As Vergil stabs Dante you see right before Dante awakens that the skull on Rebellion screams, of course back then its just design but rn it makes sense Basically Rebellion is Dantes Demon, Vergil triggered Devil Trigger by stabbing Dante here and after gaining Knowledge and power in form of spardas sword Dante was able to awake his own demon because he accepted himself Makes sense cuz in satanism knowledge is the core of th belivement and Devil May Cry is all about daddy issues so in DMC5 Dante is accepting his Father and his bloodline getting over his complexes Thats the conclusion I had now

@@MegaManJake Didn't seem to be out of spite to me. Let's not forget, these guys aren't human. Dante having his palm cut down the middle is the equivalent of a papercut to him. I always saw it as a sort of brotherly pettiness, with a bittersweet tinge of familial affection; "Don't bother trying to save me, brother. I'm going to go kick the crap out of Mundus for killing mom and nobody's stopping me." Well, nobody except Mundus as evidenced by his eventual fate in DMC1. He even says "Leave me and go if you don't want to be trapped in the demon world." Siblings can have complex love-hate relationships and I think DMC3 especially gets it down pat, especially considering the half-human nature of these two brothers and the trauma they experienced as children.
it’s shows they are so alike since they can literally go with one another’s comment, Vergil didn’t have to play along with Dante’s party joke but he did while keeping in character.
I love how Arkham lowkey warns Vergil "We should leave! He's about to have an ungodly cutscene, and you don't want to be in the way of it." NO video game clip gets you so excited to get back into playing the main character
I've been playing through the series for the last couple of weeks. I was looking forward to finally meeting Vergil properly. And holy hell this fight was so much fun
It was seeing this exact fight on UA-cam back in the day that got me to buy Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition and thus began my obsession with the series. It looked so fun and badass. And it was! I always dragged these fights out so I could listen to the music and enjoy the atmosphere for longer.
I have a thing in mind.... What if Vergil stabbed Dante with the rebellion deliberately because he knew it will activate Dante's devil trigger.... I mean think about it.. Vergil won the fight and got the amulet .. Why would he stab Dante TWICE?!? 😂
His blood also awakened Rebellion itself. Before the first fight with Vergil on a new save look in the in-game files via d-pad to read about the sword. Do the same after the Vergil fight once the sword has changed it’s appearance and you’d find a new description for it saying Dante’s blood awakened the power within it.
I think he resetted Dante. Since Dante rejects his demon blood, his Devil Trigger never manifested. Vergil stabbed him with Yamato to separate Dante's human and devil side and merged them with Rebellion. Essentially a "have you tried turning it off, then back on?"
I first came across this exact DMC video clip back in early Summer 2014 after finishing my first year in undergrad college, along with this channel as a whole, and some 9 odd years later, I'M GLAD it STILL kicks ass!!!
"My sincerest apology brother I was so eager to see you I couldn't concentrate on preparations for the bash" lol man Vergil's sarcasm level is top tier.
"Father, I have no father. I just don't like you that's all." This line from Dante made me think, Dante never knew his father, nor Vergil. Always thought Vergil only knew of Sparda, because Jester informed Vergil of his bloodline.
From what I know, he didn't like his father because Sparda left when he was young and Vergil killed people Dante liked, like Nell Goldstein who made Dante's guns.
They both knew about Sparda, in fact, Sparda was more like a doting father than Goku (Dante even scared of him because Sparda used to beat his ass off whenever he made a mess at home), as he was always there for his family in the beginning before Mundus destroyed their home. I bet in DMC 6 later, we will know what was the reason Sparda suddenly disappear
@@jakomioftherose2434 the novel was non canon after dmc3, but after dmc5 BtN the canonised it again by tieing up loose ends, Gilver is just a Vergil clone made by Mundus as a soldier of his Black Angel army.
5:08 I too remember when my hair used to be so bad people half the time fail to recognize who I am but when I switch hairstyles they barely recognize me and fail to consider who I actually am.
They know they cant kill each other, since they are children of the strongest demon to exist and so are demons themselves. Even when Vergil stabs Dante at the end, he does it because he knows that is how Dante will awaken his devil side and thus become much stronger and able to protect himself.
Ironically, Dante is the closest one to act like a classical western demon : he likes parties, reading striper magazines, has a cynical attitude and wears red.
kouprey221 he likes parties, who doesnt? well, he has to read striper magazines since he has rotten luck with women. but he's not cynical, he just has a bunch of one liners, which he bombards all over his EVIL enemies. is spiderman cynical? is danny phantom cynical?
It was an intentional thing. Vergil fits perfectly in the traditional true hero and noble knight archetype, and is calm and pacifist at heart, but they made him suffer and misfit him in the villain spot. Dante fits perfectly as a classical demon, and is crueler and blood lustier at heart, but they turned him into a vengeful antihero. Their creator seems rather rebellious. Making such misfits is possibly his way to revolt against the "boringly harmonious" society where he lives. As an American, I've found the "boringly harmonious" society that he loathes is a precious thing that we can't ask for. People all want the things they don't have. That's my guess.

Take notes, Buzz Lightyear: THAT is falling with style.
1:48 love that attack and how fast Vergil is moving

@@Prince_XingqiuCUM REAL!!!
man....everything about this is perfect. the top of the tower illuminated by the full moon with it beginning to rain, the dialogue, the music, and of course the fight itself. it's just perfect.
And as a result he decided to stab himself with the rebellion just to discover what will happen 🤔
Interesting how the story between DMC series is so attached regardless the years gap between 'em
Nah it's more likely that he thought that if Yamato could split the demon and human parts of Vergil what about the rebellion turns out it's it's the opposite of Yamato cuz it lets you fuse things like home fusing with the Sparda and rebellion
@@derplololol9717 maybe Rebellion itself is dantes demon part, so when he stabbed himself he absorbed his demon
As Vergil stabs Dante you see right before Dante awakens that the skull on Rebellion screams, of course back then its just design but rn it makes sense
Basically Rebellion is Dantes Demon, Vergil triggered Devil Trigger by stabbing Dante here and after gaining Knowledge and power in form of spardas sword Dante was able to awake his own demon because he accepted himself
Makes sense cuz in satanism knowledge is the core of th belivement and Devil May Cry is all about daddy issues so in DMC5 Dante is accepting his Father and his bloodline getting over his complexes
Thats the conclusion I had now

this Vergil is so much better than the new one
I like Gilver & New Vergil more.
Both are pretty good imo and have good reasons for wanting power. I think the only problem of the new dmc was it lost its complexity but still overall pretty good.
Kerr Reid I agree, even though I enjoyed the good and loveing brother thing as it lasted.
That goes for both characters.

4:57 slashing Dante's hand was wonderfully petty.
I always come back to this video every once in a while because its a beautiful cinematic masterpiece
I like the back and forth talk between the two brothers
it’s shows they are so alike since they can literally go with one another’s comment, Vergil didn’t have to play along with Dante’s party joke but he did while keeping in character.

most relatable line ever
It was seeing this exact fight on UA-cam back in the day that got me to buy Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition and thus began my obsession with the series. It looked so fun and badass. And it was! I always dragged these fights out so I could listen to the music and enjoy the atmosphere for longer.
I have a thing in mind.... What if Vergil stabbed Dante with the rebellion deliberately because he knew it will activate Dante's devil trigger.... I mean think about it.. Vergil won the fight and got the amulet .. Why would he stab Dante TWICE?!? 😂
He probably knew Dante was pretty stab proof, so he double tapped him to make sure
@@bash3226 That's a possibility 😂
Because once wasn’t enough. He wanted to feel the satisfaction of stabbing his twin again.
I just don't like you that's all."
This line from Dante made me think, Dante never knew his father, nor Vergil.
Always thought Vergil only knew of Sparda, because Jester informed Vergil of his bloodline.
From what I know, he didn't like his father because Sparda left when he was young and Vergil killed people Dante liked, like Nell Goldstein who made Dante's guns.
@@jakomioftherose2434 its actually a mistranslation. Its supposed to say "this isn't about father".
@@cidaliarei1 shuuttt, it's more dramatic that way
They both knew about Sparda, in fact, Sparda was more like a doting father than Goku (Dante even scared of him because Sparda used to beat his ass off whenever he made a mess at home), as he was always there for his family in the beginning before Mundus destroyed their home.

God this fight is so iconic, if we don't get DMC6 I sure as hell want a DMC3 remake.
Honestly, this fight is very sad to witness. Two brothers trying to kill each other because of a stupid rivalry.

@@Mngalahad Well i dont like parties, you got problem with that big boi? >:D
