Never knew about this film but I'm so glad it's been made available to view. I just loved it from beginning to end. A real feel good movie and i smiled and laughted all the way though. A sincere thank you. Mr. Cagney and the entire cast were superb. 11 out of 10!
What a great movie. James Cagney in a different role as a kind and helpful man to a kind and dear Grace George, with a touch of humor, suspense and a great ending. Really enjoy these old black and white movies, far better than what is made today. Thanks for a wonderful posting. Joe S
Fantastic! 🤩I always think of Cagney in his gangster role, which I don't much like. But wow, he was great as this serious, gentle character. Thanks for the film 📽📽
The movie is produced by William Cagney, James Cagney's younger brother. He produced several of his brother's movies, including City for Conquest (1940), Blood on the Sun (1945), The Time of Your Life (1948), Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950) and A Lion Is in the Streets (1953). He was credited as an associate producer on Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942). He also handled his brother's business affairs, negotiating several of his Hollywood studio contracts. This was the first film produced by William Cagney Productions in March 1943
How could women wear those ultra long dresses that dragged along the ground as they walked- didn't they just collect dust and dirt by the end of the day?

Great film, love the oldies better than any current movie. Cagney had such beautiful eyes.
I will watch ANYTHING with Hattie McDaniel. Love her so much!

I still love James cagney
A real gem!

He was actually a song-and-dance man. But, like Edward G., he played a tough guy well. Not that he was a wimp, mind you.

@SeeNoEvil777....Great information...thanks..!!
Now you've got me on a Cagney craze.
Thoroughly enjoyable movie. Bravo
Brilliant movie 👏💯
thanks man its awesome.
I can't help but see this story as a microcosm of the USA. It'll take more than a town full to clean this place up.
James Cagney was my mother's favorite actor, one of mine to. 😎👌👍 P.S her favorite movie was the Fighting Sixty Nineth. 👍
Good picture.
Excellent movie. And James Cagney as usual is the little red rooster.
Interesting that Jimmy Cagney had a look-alike brother who produced this film!
Cute trick, having the Director's credit disappear behind a tree. Interesting picture, sort of an updated western like _Bad Day at Black Rock._
We've got Black Rock back again.
If I am not mistaken the old guy with the mouse played the Wizard of Oz and the grumpy receptionist played the Wicked Witch of the West .
You're correct about Margaret Hamilton (the Wicked Witch of The West) but not about The Wizard/Professor Marvel. He was played by Frank Morgan.
@ Thank you for the correction .
Frank Morgan, mind you, not Ralph Morgan. Different actors.
NOT A DRAMA More of a Dramedy But still, Cagney, right? Not a bad film.
👏🍿🥤👏👍
