16:28 Å is pronounced like the "o" in "long", Ø like the "u" in "turn" and then we have Æ, which is pronounced like the "a" in "ash" ("Ash" is also the name for the Old English letter Æ). Å means river, that's why there are several places in Norway called Å, the most famous one being Å in Moskenes municipality at the end of the E10 on the Lofoten archipelago.
Nice map. I am happy that as a foreigner I could 25k this challenge in about 10min. Elkjøp is originally a Norwegian company and it is the same which operates under name Gigantti in Finland. It is Elgiganten in Sweden.
@@MegaLol232 yeah that's funny because in Finnish electronics slang an electrolytic capacitor is "elko" :) I noticed that it is Elding in Faroe islands. My daughter is actually working in a Gigantti store.
Clas Ohlson is a Swedish home improvement chain and mail-order firm that specialises in hardware, home, leisure, electrical and multimedia products. It is one of the biggest of its type in Scandinavia, with more than 230 Clas Ohlson stores as of May 2020
Norway is the most active quake area in northern mainland Europe, but the quakes all tend to very small, most often not causing any damages at all. They feel a bit like a really big lorry passing by. Most frequent along the western (and sometimes northern) coast, partly caused by the land still rising after the last ice age. But there is some concern about qaukes triggering land slides and big rock falls, as well as underwater slides, causing tsunamis. Dangerous areas are monitored. BTW: Most bus operators are regional and not named after specific towns or municipalities. So no help from the names. "Fram" means "forth".
Power and Elkjøp are the two biggest electronics shop chains in Norway. I have now come to realise that Circle K is well known in the USA for kiosks and stuff. In hindsight, I can find them in many American movies that are many decades old. However, in Norway they only appeared a few years ago, when all the Statoil gas stations changed their names to Circle K. Statoil was the national oil company, but they sold themselves out of the distribution side, and then later they changed the name to Equinor. But in short, in Norway, Circle K is exclusively gas stations.
Almost 90% of all new cars bought in 2024 in Norway was electric, and tesla was the nr1 brand, with 24% of sails that year. Source : OFV (Opplysningsrådet for veitrafikken). (The Norwegian Road Federation)
8:35 Ground Beef prices are actually pretty similar to the US and buns (and bread in general) are cheaper in Norway. Chicken, however, is a luxury. Chicken breasts will be about $10/lb
I've been to three of those. First one was my local mall, second one was my MILs and last one is right by my brothers house. I'm usually not able to get more then a one of them.
Not the best game if you want to see the beauty of Norway. But the rural games are more difficult since there are fewer signs. I come from Steinkjer just north of Levanger.
Yes, food is expensive. A meal at BK will be between 10 and 16 dollars. (120-180 Kr) You could cook burgers for 3-4 people at home for that amount. But I visited USA this fall and found that groceries weren't close to as cheap as i expected. Norwegians still only use maybe like 10% or their income on food on average. 50 years ago it would be maybe 40% Teslas are absolutely everywhere ;)
fast food has never been cheap in Norway. and buying our own meat is also expensive compared to EU countries as we dont have as much subsidized meat industry as them. so we usually go to sweden and fill your car up with a lot of cheap swedish meat
Thanks for watching! Takk for at du så på!

Cross the border for meat!
The small stores in northernmost Finland also have very good meat counters thanks to Norwegians.
