Hi, Dennis, good video, as always! I think you pretty much covered it. I can`t add so much to this, since I`m not an expat. But I will say this:
Here is my list of cons living in Thailand:
    😎😎

Hahahahaha.... Sarlina!!!!! Probably the best comment I have ever had! Couldn't agree more. You know I love Thailand and the cons are few and far between. I wish I could just own a small plot of land with a small house, but alas, no. The only other issue I have are the roads... very, very dangerous. I know there other countries and we have discussed this issue before. I WILL be taking you up on your idea of doing a video specifically on dangerous driving here... and will get out and start recording EVIDENCE! That will be easy to get haha. Anyway, thanks for your awesome reply and have a super cool and relaxing weekend!!!!! Den.

Great vlog, burning, dogs and the abysmal driving definitely top the cons. I would say the immigration rules are more of a pro, we should have similar rules in uk, way too soft at the moment.

The things I struggle with are the drivers, burning, noise and stray dogs. If you're not careful you can be smoked out by neighbors or disturbed by intercoms and music at all hours. Being able to walk my dog in the many nice locations is often impossible because there are stray or unkept dogs basically everywhere, even remote temples or national parks. Dangerous driving is nigh impossible to avoid so you need to just accept that be extra careful.

Yep. Other than NEVER being able to own even just a little house, the roads are what scare/annoy me the most. Every single day, you experience 5-10 potential crashes caused by stupidity. You have to drive very defensively. I have a theory about it and will be making a video specifically of driving in Thailand soon. As for stray dogs and burning isn't really an issue where I live, fortunately. But I know many people have problems with these issues. Anyway, a million thanks for sharing, Den.

@@KhonKaenDenNot being able to own property is sad. I'm going to buy some land with my wife I think and I'm not even 100% assured it could be split 50/50 in case of divorce, even though that's the law, but how this works with in practice is dubious. Just about every older guy you meet in Thailand has his story of financial ruin from their previous marriage and it really makes me nervous.

Taxing pensions would be the end for many living in Thailand

Too right, Scot. I know a few people who are on a seriously tight budget (pension-wise) and if taxed on it, they would simply have to relocate. Sad, but true. Anyway, at least Celtic won't lose today... they play tomoz hehe. Have a great weekend, fella!!!

Although cost of living is low, it’s definitely relative. $1500 a month is a bargain to someone in a decent western pension or overseas income, but with a min wage of 353 baht a day, manufacturing salaries under 15k a month, and even govt jobs like police officer starting at 40k or so, that can be a hard number to hit. That’s why my wife had no desire to work or start any sort of business there, she can make in 2 months here what she could make in a year there, and she can just enjoy the time we spend there instead.
The talk of changing taxes concerns me; if they implement that I won’t be spending more than 4-5 months a year in Thailand. With the tax treaty in place with the US it shouldn’t affect me personally even if I stayed longer, but will have to wait and see. I have no intention of paying any more in taxes than the US is already taking. I think it will be a net loss of revenue for Thailand if they implement it; sometimes they forget they aren’t the only game in town and many other countries are already more expat and digital nomad friendly. This can only hurt them in the long run.

Hi Dennis,Ive not comnented for a few vlogs as been watching on youtube app on TV . Good vid as always mate. Dont worry re - the taxation of incoming moneys as Thailand have a duel Tax exemption with many other countries -IE the UK , most ,if not all Europen countries ,USA etc. What this meanms is that any money coming into Thailand cannot be taxed if the country it has come from has already taxed it , This means if you are a youtuber the money paid to you ( providing you are monytised)willhad the tax taken off it before you get it paid into your Thai bank account. The country that taxes you for youtube payments will have an non dual tax agreement with Thailand so all you get you can keep.Thought Id let you know , I looked into it as soon as I heard because as you know Iin the process of selling up and moving to our house in Khaosuankwang. Btw, if you find yourelf stuck for something to do on a nice day I recommend the Zoo up there its a decent day especially if you take in the water park.
