Den, nature is such good medicine. We took our students on a field trip into the mountains last week. They "heard" what silence sounds like for the first time. Our entire hallway display we created (pictures, sketches, poems) when we returned is called, "Nature is the Best Teacher." Love the pics, man. Take care.
Thanks once more for your kindest of words. Couldn't agree more about nature being the best medicine. Phu Wiang National Park isn't the best place in the world, but it is only an hour away and it is MY "escape the city" place. I can spend all day here just looking at, and photographing, little bugs and whatever else turn up. Just sitting on a rock in the middle of nowhere and without a soul, eating a sandwich and sipping on a coffee is my little piece of heaven.
Sounds like you had a great time with your students. I used to always arrange trips to the forest/camping with my school for the kids but too many parents were "scared" that their child would have been eaten or killed by something. haha. And yes, I love that silence!!! Anyway, thank you so much for sharing. Cheers, Den.
I think you are right. I live already 6 years in rural Khon Kaen and I am never boring at my 68 years. I wish a day has 36 hours. I have 4 dogs, about 50 parakeets (rainbow, sakula, zebra, lovebird) in different cages, I go running, I like to read books and I am learning Thai on my own. In Europe I should not have this freedom to do what I like.
Wonderful, Hans! Couldn't agree more. You clearly are kept busy with your lovely pets and keeping fit/reading. Likewise, with all of my hobbies and interests (photography, my channel, watching Premier League football, reading, my two cats, going to restaurants to try new dishes, watching movies and so on). I, too, wish I had 36 hours a day haha... sadly, I know a few people who basically have no interests at all it seems and literally wait for the bars to open. Very sad indeed. Many thanks for sharing, Den.
Looks like running photography holidays could be a next step option. Doing something you love and knowing all the spots to go to 👍
Hi, John. Never really thought about it, to be honest. If anyone was interested, I would be more than happy to take them to some of the best national parks in Thailand. Let/s see what happens! Thanks a million. Den.
Rocky's, Leo's, Eric's and Laundry were amazing hobbies
Haha... the best hobbies in the world!!!! Hardly go out down there any more to be honest. Would probably feel like the "tourist" if I did now haha.
Camping in those parks would be uplifting... yes. TY.
Yes. Camping here is wonderful. Can get hot very early in the morning, but when it is early and misty, it can look, and feel, amazing! Here's to nature! Thanks for sharing, Den.
"Dang! Moist condition."
Oh Thailand, I love you.
That vista was epic, thank you Den
Brilliant sign, eh? Glad you spotted it! Wonder if anyone else will see it haha. Thanks for sharing. Den.
Holy guacamoly! Those pictures in the end are amazing! You really have a talent for this. Too.. Photography seems very interesting, but I think I would be that guy or gal who captures the scenes just a little too late, maybe with my left finger covering the screen.. Been there, done that. I might have a thumb or 9 too much. I love that scenery and view though, at the national park. Mother nature is amazing, we all need to do better, be better, preserving it. I do have hobbies too. I had the best tennis coach, my husband, he taught me everything I know there. We also played chess, I loved that. Walked a lot, and traveled. For farangs, there are many clubs to attend to. Chess, card clubs (no money involved..), bridge, dart, boccia, paddle tennis (that`s pretty new), you name it. Everyone needs a hobby, so the alcohol or boredom doesn`t catch us. Thanks, Den, again I love your content! 😊😊
Hey, Sarlina. Apologies for the late reply... been very busy this weekend. Hope you are having a great and relaxing weekend. Thanks for your kind words about the photos... I am certainly not professional nor an expert on nature... I just love the two combined. To be honest, I also take lots of terrible photos (nature photography is difficult as all the elements can go against you). Yeah, nice little national park... and they let me in at Thai prices too hehe. We do indeed need to do more to protect nature (or what is left of it). Cool that you played tennis... there are many tennis courts in Thailand too so that could be another hobby for farangs. I used to also love chess, though don't know anyone to play against nowadays haha. Walking is another great option for farangs (maybe hiking in the mountains or whatever). It is so rewarding. Paddle tennis, now that's a new one on me hehe. I couldn't agree with you more that everyone needs a hobby, a distraction from daily life. Anyway, have a wonderful weekend with whatever you are doing and speak soon. Den.
@@KhonKaenDen Thanks for your reply, Den. I do know you are busy, and replying to all your comments is also time consuming. I do not expect a reply every time, but I sure am happy to see when you do. Just don`t feel that you have to, I do have some sort of word diarrhea disease, and know I am a handful, and too much to handle sometimes. One liners might not be my thing. Sorry about that 😂 Thank you again for using some of your valuable time replying to a messed up person like me 😄😄Have a great one, Beau and Den (ladies first..)!
Love your videos, Den! They have purpose, entertaining presentation, and I hope you keep this up for a long, long time. Thank you!
Hi. Many thanks for your kind words. Me too!!! I hope to keep going for as long as possible. Thanks again. Den.
Great job with your photo collection my hobby is fishing
Hi, Barry. Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, I used to go fishing all the time in the UK. Still do here in Thailadn but not as much. The fish are so much bigger here (had a 60 kgs Giant Mekong Catfish) but it can get tooooooo hot to be out in the sun all the time. Had heatstroke a few times haha. Thanks for sharing. Den.
Hi Den, I get very bored sitting through intros to UA-cam videos.
Strangely enough it doesn't happen with yours.
The combination of the music and images is something I enjoy.
Chok dee.
Cheers, Neil. I love terrible "dad" jokes. They always make me smile. Glad you like them too!!! Hopefully many more puns to come haha. Thanks again, Den.
@@LostVagus Thanks again! This is pretty much how I taught my students by adding a little fun to the occasion and making it less boring and straight! Cheers, Den.
Great vid, Dennis!
Cheers, fella! Love this place. Not the greatest in terms of fauna, but only an hour away and a nice place to "escape" the city. Thanks again, Ben... Den.
Yeah, having a ‘nice’ place to go only an hour from home is good. From Bangkok, I try to get down to Khao Khieo WS, Chonburi as much as I can, and there are trails into the forest there which is great!
Do you post your photos anywhere such as FB for people to see? I used to do alot of photography but not for a long time but I love nature and especially macro shots. Have you considered doing some YT short vids of the nature here ?
Apologies for the late reply. Been a little burnt out recently. Anyway, as for your question... I USED to post ALL the time on Facebook, but since the start of this channel, other things have had to take a back seat for a while. Here are a few I love (and add photos):
facebook.com/groups/DragonfliesOfThailand
facebook.com/groups/ButterfliesOfThailand
facebook.com/groups/thai.species.id
There are many more, but these are the main ones (type in Dennis Farrell if you want to see my photos).
I also have a few blogs (though been neglected since COVID):
thaiodonata.blogspot.com/
butterfliesofthailand.blogspot.com/
Never actually considered UA-cam shorts of nature, but definitely something to think about... many thanks for sharing. Den.
Oi ! Who said you are getting old quickly 😂😂 Another great video Den 🥳
Hello teacher, 10 years ago I used to be your student. I like to take street photography. I'd like to invite you to take a photo together.
Hi. Nice to talk with you again! That would be very nice. Let's meet up one day soon!!!
Welcome to my latest video for my channel, @KhonKaenDen. In this video, I talk about my experiences of how having no real interests other than being in permanent "holiday mode" in Thailand can leave you feeling really bored or even depressed. If you decide to live in Thailand permanently, you eventually lose that "honeymoon period" on holiday and things eventually become normal. You REALLY need a hobby (or some kind of pastime at least)!!!!!!! Don't forget, if you like my videos hit the thumbs up, subscribe and comment! Hope you enjoy. Den.
