I just quit traveling as RN case manager in September and took a permanent position, because the pay dropped tremendously, the contracts are harder to obtain and a lot more hoops to jump through.

How long did you work as a traveling case manager? What was your experience like? It is with great sadness 😢 that I must give up travel nursing and taking a staff position. I feel your grief

@@strongernurseuniverse I worked as a travel CM for three years. I loved it! I thought I was going to have to go back to bedside nursing in the ICU, Tele or Medical Surgical to be able to travel. I was surprised I could travel as a CM. I especially love it because I don’t like the politics and drama of working in a permanent position. I try to avoid those at all costs.
I felt more appreciated and valued as a travel CM. There were frequent check ins from my recruiter to be sure I was happy. A lot of letters of appreciation, and unexpected gifts.
The work is more difficult as a traveler because you’re put wherever the need is, but that helped me grow. I can now jump in any assignment in any unit of any hospital. This ability to adapt quickly has made me more efficient. I often was training brand new cms in permanent positions, I helped the overall departments grow. I definitely miss it. I will pick it back up when the season is right for me.☺️I always have “fishing nets” out looking for the next best thing. I hope you find something that keeps you happy 😊

@@strongernurseuniverse Yes, I subscribed. I look forward to more informative videos. I have a situation that you might help bring insight to. I’m sorry in advance that this is lengthy:
As I mentioned,I am constantly looking for another travel assignment. I was working with a new recruiter from an agency I never have been employed by to find a new assignment. I was submitted for a position that I found attractive. I didn’t hear anything back, when I asked for an update,I was told another candidate was selected. I didn’t even get to the interview process. The recruiter offered other positions that were ok, so she submitted me for those. So in my mind the opportunity for the “ attractive “ position closed especially since the start date for that package was the beginning of this month, so it’s history.
A recruiter from another agency ended up contacting me and had two contracts for that position that I originally found attractive; the pay was about $400 less a week than the other one I was submitted for. These contracts have a new start date,I reluctantly asked to be submitted to see what happens as the location is what is making this position attractive to me. She comes back and asks me if I was already submitted, I told her about the other agency submitting me weeks ago and it closed. She asked me to write an email and cc her on it that I can only be represented by their agency. I found this extremely odd as I have never been asked to do this and asked a lot of questions, like are you saying, I can’t work with other recruiters to find a new position? Will this email be specifically for this particular hospital system? I don’t understand please explain. She told me it’s specifically for this hospital system. So I sent the email even though I still found this odd. I figured it must be a new hoop to jump through.
The recruiter from the first agency contacts me a day later and asks me if Aya submitted me. I said I have no idea who Aya is as I truly don’t. But I didn’t tell her the name of the other agency and that they submitted me. She tells me that the contract that I thought was closed is still open and now she can’t do anything about it because Aya has it and asks me to write an email that only her agency can represent me. So in my mind this is getting really weird. Now I’m submitted to the position I want for about $400 less a week.
I still didn’t tell her this but asked more questions. Come to find out she tells me, in quotes: I copied and pasted this: “Sometimes if you have profiles created on websites such as Wanderly or any other Travel Agency sites, they will submit you without your permission to jobs.”
I told her I find this extremely fraudulent. Now I’m having trust issues with these recruiters. What are your thoughts? I hope to hear everyone’s thoughts.
I’m editing this because after I sent this, I googled Aya. It’s a travel agency that I have never worked with or heard of. Now I’m super confused who is really representing me for these contracts.?

Ugh where do you live because I live in cali and they pay us $50 an hr cna for hospital it goes up to $100 for strikes and in old folks home I make $35 an hr there's alot of strikes down here we are short on nurses. Your not looking hard enough there is money everywhere it sounds to me that people r getting burnt out cuz of the work. If u don't like what u do and u do it for the money u will hate your job and your body will take a toll on u for reals. U shouldn't be a nurse past your 50s anyways u should have gotten an associates degree and be a school teacher after that. We need nurses and teachers those professions will never die. I wish I can post my screenshot of the agency I'm with but they offered me 2500 a week contract here that's not with weekly stipends the stipends is $1300 cuz of high cost of living in cali
