Nolan's father is in my prayers. It's tough caring for ill parents, but to do so from so far away is even harder. Some day there will be no more sickness, no more tears, no more death. Praise God!

The house is coming along so well. It will be a show place for sure. Nothing like a bright white farm house. Glad you were able to save/replicate the moldings for the windows, it really adds to the authenticity. Love that you decided on the lighter color. I too prefer a light or white farmhouse. I, like you met my husband in Oregon when I went out to teach. Ended up living in OR for 12 years and then we moved back to my home State for a job opportunity. Love how similar our stories are.

I found you from the strawberry gutter video and looking for an update found this! We just saved my great grandparents old farmhouse. (Late 1800-early 1900) We are renovating at the moment and I understand the overwhelming feelings. Sadly we are having to jack the house up and replace foundation seal beams. So it is coming a long very slowly. All the foundation has to be done before we can touch the inside! I am so happy to see your progress! It gives me hope that mine will be finished one day! At the moment the kitchen is gutted and we have transformed the laundry room into a make shift kitchen. Dishes in the tub but one day I will have a sink!! ;) Our house needed to be rewired, new insulation and our siding was in very bad condition. So we had to strip off all the old wood siding and we rewired, insulated and then put up new siding.
I absolutely love old farmhouses and glad to have found your channel. 😁

Eeeek! I’m so happy for you! I know it sucks to go into debt aaaand ALL.THE. Headaches along the way, BUT, it is making such a marked change and seeing your visions come to life has to be so good for your heart. I know for us stay at home folks, the layout of our homes can make quite an impact on our moods. That being said, our joy is in the Lord and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and a magazine perfect home isn’t what I’m talking about, but I’m sure you understand.

We are going through some of that with having to replace many of the electrical outlets. A friend of ours came to teach Noel how to do it properly. So, that was a help. My parents are getting estimates on the roof. In the meantime, we have once again gotten blanketed with snow. Oh well, that's Minnesota for you.

While living at Fall Creek Falls State Park, for a season, we happened to come across an Amish community nearby and there was a house (big like yours) and it was grey (a little darker than the darker color you showed to the right of the window), trimmed in white but with a thinner strip of black around the windows. it was such a stately/regal combination of colors. If I didn't misunderstand you when asking our thoughts about paint choice I would choose the darker color; sure though that your choice will be spot on! When Zander ran out to greet you when he woke up from his nap tears fell from my eyes immediately...remembering how precious little ones can be at that age definitely grabs the heart strings. Just remember: don't be anxious for anything. be filled with Thanksgiving as you make your prayers and requests to Him! HE CARES FOR YOU and your family. Gale Flowers

Hello Nolan & Janine, Xander... . I'm sure you will be very glad once your house is complete of renos. We completely redid our house 3 years ago and that sure was a mess. Picking out paint colors, floors and light fixtures/ doorknobs is far more stressful then I ever thought. Good luck. Keep positive,. Good health and GOD BLESS!!!

I love a white house with black trim, with a red front door. My favorite. I can hardly contain my excitement. It will be amazing when finished....then you can decorate it for Christmas. Wreaths on the windows, a sleigh on the porch, greenery above the doors, and on the window sills, candle lights in the windows......O M Word....It will be beautiful !! I can't wait !!!!!

I'm glad you went with the lighter color. It's classy and timeless. When I was young, we lived in an old farmhouse and I loved it.
I think each style of house has a look that is just timeless and perfect. I LOVE houses- (I have 3 house apps on my phone with houses saved all around the country because I like some particular aspect to it.) - and I like things that are timeless...because trendy dates things. Obviously, on the inside you might be "trendy" but I like the outside facade to be classic.
I'm excited for you to have the "restoration " of the house. It will be a load off your mind!
I have to say, you have the same marriage certificate picture that I do! I had to rewatch it to make sure.😊 My friend did it for hers, which I loved, and have told many people to replicate over the years. It's a cute picture for sure.

I’m amazed that they hand brushed that whole big house ! It will be beautiful ! Can’t wait to watch the process! I was sad to see the old buildings being razed 😢 But my husband would have been in his element too 🤣 We razed every last old building on our place also , sadly they weren’t worth saving .
yeah, it's sad to see them go over, but they weren't worth much. there was even a big old chicken coop I'd forgotten about.

Wow, I didn’t realize how big the house was until you showed to drone shots. Personally for a farmhouse of this era I’d go with white or the lighter color. It’ll be stunning regardless and every time you drive up to it you’ll smile with satisfaction. Everything is coming together beautifully.

Seeing the picture of you two in your courting days, it is amazing how alike you looked! You know how they say people start to look alike the longer they are married? Well you started out that way! You could be siblings. Cute pics!!! Looks like you finished Xander's room from what I can see. Can't wait to see the rest of the progress and the work you have done while Nolan was away. Hope things are going well for his Dad. Didn't realize how much work had already been done to the house before you even moved into it. The progress looks GREAT. Definitely prefer the light grey to the darker grey on the house. Our house was a darker blue/grey and I couldn't wait to paint it. It was depressing to look at. We chose white and it has lasted a long time but it's time to be painted again. Can't wait to see the next update.

Your whole property is beautiful! And the exterior improvements to the house are fabulous! I like many others really like the white paint for the house. That way you can paint around the windows or porches for more variety but it won't clash with the siding color, it will match. Your brother in law did an AWESOME job on the sidewalks and porches!!! And creating new replicas of the window casings(great job, Painter and Nolan!) Is fantastic. I look forward to seeing the rest of the transformations.
