It's so sad most people commenting here are talking about her roles on AHS without ever having experienced the true masterpiece it was Six Feet Under - a series so brilliant and so overlooked because it happens to have ended before the social media explosion.
Do yourself a favor and find it, watch it, it's truly life changing.
I just got done watching all five seasons on Prime. The show will stay with me for a very long time, especially the final episode.
@@traebee333 I just finished binging all 5 seasons tonight too, my first time watching it, what a masterpiece of a show! Before that I binged The Affair. Both shows are incredibly written and acted. I thought The Affair was my favourite all time series, now I think it's SFU, the writing is even better I think maybe cuz the characters are more fleshed out & you really go on a journey with each of them? Not sure. Maybe it brings out more relatable emotions and situations?
That is so true, you never heard much about SFU after that period cuz it ended before social media really took off, which is probably why I never thought to watch it till now (I looked it up only cuz I saw someone say in one of the YT vids about The Affair that they liked the final episode of SFU better than The Affair's final episode. I can see their point as there's maybe more closure with all the characters in SFU but you don't see all the characters at the end of The Affair). Both endings are good though.
Moo well said sir well said
Amen! I arranged my weekly visits to my parents around the sopranos and six feet under bc they were just truly great experiences to have with them every week and talk about. This entire era wasn't about just tv shows, it was a true golden age of meaningful art. I still have a couple of the understated SFU t-shirts and videos of us singing the sopranos theme song together along with the tv before a new episode. And forget Frances on SFU! There's hardly a scene she's in where even her mildest gesture isn't a tour de force. That cast together...you can't ask for better!
She is just an amazing actress. So many actors cannot make emotional scenes believable. Every crying scene this woman has, she makes it seem so real. She is just fabulous.
Very underrated. She played the heck out of Ruth fisher.
You are so correct! She was great in 6 feet under and on fire in all the AHS seasons! Wonderful! Her talent goes way beyond most! Thank you for this! It makes me cry every time!❤
I felt the show deeply because of her. Well-deserved
Such an a amazing actress. She deserve more credit.
Yes. While Jessica Lange is also amazing, Frances is equally as amazing. I do feel that she doesn't get enough credit.
She was so good on COVEN
Omg yes 😍
+Emi CT Myrtle Snow!
+househeadericmd Yes 💁💞
She was AMAZING on six feet under! I'm sure you've seen if but if you haven't I totally recommend.
balenciaga!
SIX FEET UNDER: BEST SHOW EVER!!!
best drama lead actress ever. unforgivable no emmy was granted to her.
Maybe she will win one day for "AHS" or something like this 😄
She`s brilliant, she deserve this even for "American Horror Story".
I just binge watched six feet under for first time. Such an amazingly believable and realistic show. Ruth was absolutely amazing. I feel empty now it's over. Time to binge watch mad men I guess.
sinkiy this show make any other family drama look like bad teen romance
why not watch SFU again? It is my fav tv show of all time..so far....And I will watch anything with FC...she is so good...yes her roles in AMH are all great
Frances Conroy should have won every award she was nominated for in Six Feet Under. Brilliant acting, brilliant show, love, love, love it. It's my favourite TV series ever!
I love her acting. I am big fan of her since I watched Six feet under. She was literally born to be an actress.
brilliant actress, she was perfect for her role
She was incredible on SFU. I can't believe she never won an Emmy for that role.
I think Ruth as a character is really underrated, I loved her. Yes, she was prissy and annoying and naive sometimes but that was an important part of her arc - she married young in a time when women didn't have as many options to choose a life for themselves, and after 30+ years of committed family life she's forced to confront what her purpose and identity is aside from a wife and mother. The word I have for her character is loving. Over the course of the 5 seasons she educated herself and opened her mind up to things she didn't understand or know, out of love and wanting to connect with her family, friends and lovers. I loved that her hair was so symbolic on the show, too - when it was down she was so happy and free and laughing and when it was up she was repressed and minimised and anxious. It's a simple metaphor but as the matriarch it worked so well. I also think her role was really important for representation of older women's sexuality - at the time we saw characters like Samantha Jones on Sex & The City who were older and very sexual but who were specifically childless and forever chasing youth with makeup, trendy clothing and cosmetic surgery. Whereas Ruth's character showed that you can be private and age gracefully but still have needs for intimacy and a sex life. Brilliant acting and wonderful character.
If Ruth could be captured in a canvas - you did it perfectly. I just finished watching this show for the first time two weeks ago. Deeply moved in so many different ways - still digesting the ending. but you really captured Ruth
She was amazing in Six Feet Under, the character she plays on there, she pulls off extremely well!
Her performance in Six Feet Under was out of this world. Never have an actor opened the waterworks for me as she did in that show.
She is an amazing actress.
She looks fantastic. I just love everyone on the show but she is often the standout.
AMAZING SHOW ! AMAZING CAST ! ONE OF THE "BEST" SERIES FINALE'S EVER !!!!!!!! WELL DONE !
She so deserved that Golden Globe! Six Feet Under wouldn’t have been the same without her. This series is a gem, one of the best series I’ve ever seen actually.
She's so amazing
SHE WAS PHENOMENAL IN SIX FEET UNDER.
she was my favorite actress on that show, I felt sorry for Ruth always catering to her family but they never had time for her. She was also funny, I also loved that Russian boyfriend of hers with that broken English he was so funny
Legendary her voice is so soothing.
one of my most famous tv matriarchs to have watched on tv ever in one of the saddest, most brilliant shows. love six feet under !
Peter Krause deserved an award too!
Aww. That was a very gracious speech & she looked so elegant.
I’m about to binge watch Six Feet under again.
It’s my Favorite show , so trippy & cool
myrtle snow!
Here in 2024 because I’m rewatching Six Feet Under on Netflix. Frances Conroy is just phenomenal in this show.
La amo...........................
Amazing performance as Ruth. Re-watching the whole series again.
Brilliant actress!!
She really deserved it.I like her film and television show work and when she played old Moira on American Horror Story it was genius.
I'm gonna watch this show for her 💚
I knew her from ahs and she's one of my favourite cast member in most of the seasons 💚
Some great actresses here, I must say! Frances is very talented.
I LOVE HER!
I love this woman in everything she's in.
She is honestly one of the best actresses I’ve seen!
She was Arthur Miller's favorite.
Queen❤️❤️
Six Feet Under = Best Series EVER!!!!!
Her husbands handsome! And she's brilliant
She's amazing!
She has a brief entry in the first episode of Gilded Age as the Astor's house mistress
Frances Conroy was the mother of all mothers in six feet under. I grew up watching her in this role and even with all her flaws, I wished she was part of my life during a time of discovery of being gay.
Six Feet Under was such a saviour for me. Unlike Queer As Folk, there was a subtlety in the lgbt side of the show. Frances played Ruth Fisher to perfection and was the mother of an lgbt man who went from not fully understanding it to fully accepting and loving her son.
Well deserved love ruth so much
She went all in every season of SFU. Especially S5
_I just can't get enough of his **_
Great talented actress!
six feet under was an amazing show a must watch
OMG. I want that dress.
Myrtle Snow!!
Such a Queen!!!
She´s great!!
Nobody deserved it more. She is the best
BALENCIAGA
Best actress! And Six Feet Under best series ever
Great show; would have also liked if Jooely [sp?] Richardson would have won since I loved her on Nip/Tuck.
I know, shes so underrated
amo essa atris d emais
que mulher maravilhosa da porra!!!!!!!!!!
Ruth and Rico my faves
Wonderful actress and a beautiful speaking voice too - she should read bedtime stories 😘
J'adore cette femme
People will always associate her with AHS but for me, and for select others, she will always be Ruth Fisher - the amazing character from Six Feet Under. Do yourself a big favor and watch it if you haven't already.
WTF HER GENTLE VOICEEE awwwww
American horror story legend
Good times when actors/actresses don't politicized award shows like these with their thank you speech.
Aww 💕
Soulmate.
Would you say is was Alan Ball, or Kate Robin, who was the story editor? Credit seems to go to Alan Ball, but I've heard in forums that Alan Poul had a more indirect role in keeping the show in its proper trajectory. Having seen Breaking Bad's finale, I immediately thought of Six Feet Under for some reason.
Esta mujer tiene un morbazo que te cagas. Es muy atractiva.
Frances looks a Trillion time better in real life than in the show .
😍
Ruth’s character was a bland character on the surface but this actress really brought her to life
Not to go off topic, but having been disappointed with the way that Dexter ended and realizing that Scott Buck was attached to both shows, I'm curious as to who's the rightful person responsible for SFU's consistency. That ending wouldn't have been as meaningful as it was if the leadup had sucked. It's final season was done real well, especially the last 5 or so eps.
Just to point out.... the cast was Sex and the City, not Desperate Housewives. Conroy was exceptional in thi srole!!!!
No contest!
Moira💙💙💙💙
hah , when here character would get pissed off in 6 feet under watch out
Just saw the finale of Dexter and Breaking Bad. What a letdown. Why do finales insist on aiming for crash resolutions as send offs? Six Feet Under and Breaking Bad are working templates on how to end a series right.
Allan ball great director
That's the sex and the city cast not desperate housewives
My mommy
Did she say Alan Pool? I thought it was Alan Ball??
Alan Ball and Alan Poul were both producers on the show.
She’s a good actress but the Ruth Fisher character is beyond f***ing annoying.
Of course Frances was too senior to all other nominees
Her character is annoying.
amber tamblyn shouldve won
be serious.
