Kebu is one of the most accessible, friendly and active guys on the electronic scene, and he really needs to continue to be valued... he manages to make classics even better, and the interest he has in showing how it's done is encouraging. Few musicians propose to show what the production line is like, and he feels good doing it... congratulations, Kebu!
@@paularmstrong4546Sadly, no. He lost most of his mojo, becoming a glorified dj. Nothing he has done since Oxygene 7-13 has the greatness of his work of the 70’ and 80’, except some tracks from Exquinoxe Infinity and Oxygene III.
It's always a pleasure to watch someone doing what he's passionte about and dedicated AND is really good at. You did the song and the original artist a big favour. Thanks man for showing!
Mon père écouter Jean-Michel Jarre Jean-Michel Jarre à bercé mon enfance c'est pour ça que j'aime ces musiques aujourd'hui j'adore l'écouter merci pour cette vidéo
I first heard this track on a british ITV television show from the 80's called 'Where theres life' I discovered Jarre shortly afterewards. All my friends thought i was strange as 80's pop was all consuming and it set me off on my lifelong love of electronic music. They where listening to stuff like spandau ballet and johnny hates jazz. I was going to alternate record shops to pickup tangerene dream and Wendy Carlos records . Love your stuff especially the jupiter songs. So much so ive a dog named Jupiter !!! Keep up innovating as well as paying homage to the greats. Thank you for your music.
I look forward to these episodes like the next best episode of my favorite tv show. Also, totally awesome to see so much hardware actually being used. Most of us buy hardware and have a lot of dust collectors :D
Gosh, I remember taking a trip to Europe back in the mid-1980's and bought a copy of Jean Michel Jarre's "The Concerts In China" on cassette, which I listened to many many times.
Fascinating video, thank you. That's a great version of Oxygene pt. 4. Lovely to see the Mackie mixer - I remember using those a loooong time ago and they were true workhorses.
Love this guy since I discovered Him here on UA-cam..... friendly, humble and so technically prepared. For Me is such a mindboggling experience to listen to how this guy rebuilt this classics...but My mind was blown away to Miche Jarrețs musical genius...who created this fantastic music without hearing anything like this before. Much appretiation for Kebu and for the master, Jean-Michel Jarre
Wow!!- Amazing! the "Oxigene" tune gets a new customized brilliant version. one of the real special things, is that you do Kebu is taking the listener into the song energy flow with the new added sounds and bits. Only few electronic music artists know to create the electronic tunes with such deep technical understanding of the sophisticated sound synthesizers based on PLL and frequency generators, combing it with Qbase and other advanced sound and Mix applications is pure art and when the artists is also a musician every thing is magic applause Kebu you are making an another dimension music and sound.
Great video! For me it was exactly the other way around. I became a Jarre fan in -I think- 1985. I was 14 years. Later I bought that Hypnosis 12" vinyl and could only think: OMG they ruined it! :) Now I'm almost 53 years and I just love both of them ♥
best greetings from germany, a really good education for me. I love the music of Jean Michelle Jarre. U made it better, amazing nice video. I hope too see and hear more next time.

For me you are the most inspiring musician on electronic instruments ever. Viewing your channel shows so many aspects I can use in my own music making. As being said by somebody elses comment earlier I agree that you are also the friendliest and most open and knowledgable person sharing your passion for electronic music. Thank you for this really inspiring making of.
Hello, good memory, sports music, I was trying to do sports. I was 22 years old, now I am 44 years old. I wish you to live forever. I thank Mr. Wright Malls for making this techno sport.❤❤
KEBU, me encanta la música que produces y la que modificas a un estilo propio, son bellísimas.... Disfruto mucho toda la musica que produces. Continúa así, nos haces muy felices. Un saludo muy grande desde Argentina. Guillermo. 😀😀👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
I see pianists having one instrument; some maybe two. And then I see the e-version of pianists, having at least 20 of those machines, but are still only equipped with two hands... Just crazy cool.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to present your version, and process in creating a classic! This song also spoke to me when I first heard the original, and was so happy when I discovered you wrote your own version. Your music is really my favorite. Hope you will come to the USA soon, NY/NJ area please :)
Wow, the cover impressively creative (goosebumps like the first time listening Jarre's piece over 40 yrs ago!) - and the Making of extremely interesting!
The early compositions of J.M. Jarre can be made into good covers because the possibilities of sound equipment plus computer “filters” are simply limitless in our time. Go ahead Kebu
Excellent video, congratulations on your great version of Jarre; and thank you very much for sharing. I wish you could make more videos like this and about mixing and mastering
Thanks! I already have many workshop videos. Here's the playlist with all workshops: ua-cam.com/play/PLXhbUnmQVwy0DlYSsPCKKAS0IqjornOHB.html&si=BL9opjrvDw4HKRyw
So interesting and eye & ear opening, thank's Kebu! I don't remember much from the 80's, except high school, the Finnish army, the first Atari ST/Cubase sessions and this "Hit Meter" theme (with oscillosscope video ;)
Excelente mezcla por ende buen trabajo 💯💯💪 FELICIDADES en este nuevo año que lo llevará a su gra gira en el continente europeo Saludos a vuestra persona 💯 💯 💪 💪
Exactly how I made music, everything arranged and mixed in Cakewalk and being played via Midi and then hit record 😄 After seeing many many artists record small sections and arrange it later "I thought I was doing it wrong" by modern standards... That way of working felt like 'desktop publishing', just sampling basically. On the other hand, you need many more synths when recording when everything is playing.
Awesome video! I usually pre-mix my songs and then send it over to a sound engineer for final mixing and mastering. I envy your mixing skills, Kebu. This is really hard work, especially after you programmed all the synths, added fx, recorded them etc. etc :)
Wasn’t sure I would like this version as I adore the mellow feel of the original but I love it. Fantastic job Seb and for showing us how you did it. Must be honest a lot of the side by side with different runs I couldn’t really hear the difference but then I’ve never done any mixing myself. That JP6 drone is epic man and love the addition of the trance lead. Quality work 👏👏👏👏
Not sure if only me, but i can hear the difference of the two mixes very clearly. The Cubase mix lacks some brightness compared to Mackie one. In high volume it is more obvious.
Although I'd never heard the Hipnosis cover of Oxygene 4 until now, the first times I heard Pulstar some time in the mid 80's it was actually the Hipnosis version, so I can totally relate to the feeling of hearing the original version some time later and feeling a bit underwhelmed 😄 It's also a bit funny that you managed to miss out on the original version of Oxygene 4 because it was quite prevalent here in Sweden in the mid 80's (with the penguin video) - I remember seeing it on TV (I think it was on the show Nöjesmaskinen) and I also remember it being played frequently on the TV screens at the local Clock burger restaurant (ye olde days before cable TV...). Great cover version by the way - I've listened to the 12" Hipnosis version a couple of times now and your version feels like an improved remix of the original - the overall sound and feel is very close to the original, but you've managed to make some better choices both sonically and arrangement-wise 👍

What an amazing adventure watching this, makes me very humble thinking I have a Berhinger TD-3 arriving tomorrow, my first synth... You've opened my eyes. I will ask though, could you please please do a similar breakdown for the terminator theme if you ever have the time spare to do it! One of my goals now is to see you perform live somewhere btw 👌🏼 on a side note I'm mid 40's now and that exact Yamaha synth sitting next to you my grandfather used to have and play crazy stuff to me as a young child... If only it was still in the family!
Thanks, glad you liked it! Yes, I gave already recorded the workshop for the Terminator theme, but I'm so busy with my upcoming tour that it will take until autumn before I have the time to edit it.

Jean-Michel Jarre was brilliant. Loved his stuff back in the 80's.
He still is
He fascinates me since my childhood, I'm a 42yo french dad :)
