Just made my first purchase from Sweetwater and it probably was primarily driven from watching your Sweetwater UA-cam videos. Bought a Fender Player Stratocaster in silver. Can't wait for it to get here. I will say I've been completely blown away from the level of customer service from Sweetwater.

But if you have a Silverface amp do you flip the mic around so the silver grill matches the grill cloth on the amp?
I can recommend the e906 after using it extensively for several years on guitar cabs. The frequency response is better than a 57, IMO, with less of a presence boost by default and extended low and high end response. It's also super convenient to hang in front of the speaker and it's small and lightweight. I was surprised that the e609 actually sounds a bit different that the e906, and I preferred the e906 in the audio clips in this video. Thanks!
The 421 was a studio and stage staple back in the day, mainly used for guitar cabs, bass cabs, toms & kick drum. It's definitely a recommended mic as you really can't go wrong if you're ever going to need to record any of those instruments. It's like a 57 in that you'll never want to get rid of it.

Great review! For some reason i hit pause at 2:05 and had a good chuckle! I know that the e609 has some plastic parts which are a concern to me. Do the others also have this issue? The 421-2 seems quite a bit heavier and wondering if this is due to more robust construction? Thanks.
All three mics felt well built. the 421 is the largest and heaviest. I use it on livestreams
All of them are made of plastic. That being said, im positive all of them can stand heavy beating.
You didn't have the MD 421 filter set for flat frequency, it sounds horrible with the high pass all the way on.

Do you think I could use my e609 as a gaming mic aswell, if I add a pop filter to it? Originally I was thinking about buying a mic for vocals but I was wondering if I have to because I still got my e609, which I bought for guitar recording. In the video it does ok, no?

@@landonbailey I meant a microphone, which is used for talking. For example while playing games on the PC

@@landonbailey Yes but does it sound good too? I would need to buy an audio interface, a pop filter and a microphone stand, if i want to use it as a mic for talking on my PC. Instead I could just buy a mic, which is built for talking. The price of these two alternatives was nearly the same.

Thanks for this video but...I don't understand why you didn't demonstrate the presence switch on the 906? It's one of the big selling points, and a quick sample would have made this video infinitely more useful.

The e906 and e609 sounded similar to me with dirty electric guitar. However I gotta say the e906 is sounding perfect for clean electric guitar. That’s what I’ve gathered from all videos I’ve watched. Yours was great though, very easy to navigate and get the info I was after. Thank you

Lol @ "sensitivity...it cries" 😂 I like the MD421-II best. I like that you can adjust the bass in 5 settings. I used to have the Sennheiser e965. It's a large-diaphragm, true-condenser handheld microphone. Now I'm using the SE Electronics V7 BFG for singing hobby. Great vocals btw Landon 🙌🎤🎸

@@landonbailey yup they are great quality products. I have one sennheiser headphone that came bundled with the spark amp. Kinda regretted letting go of that mic. It was a good one. Check one out if you can. And thanks for a comprehensive comparison vid 😊💯

Just bought e906 for electric guitar cab.
For vocals Get a Rode NT1 with a relatively inexpensive FMR preamp compressor. My go to pre / comp is a Safe Sound Audio P1 … wish someone would build new ones !!!

The sound of the first one sounded better when you spoke into the front facing (our view) side of the mic.
I would like to add a Sennheiser to my ever-growing pile 'O' gear. I've got the clone from you know who and it's pretty good.
If you are able to get your hands on a Behringer B906 I would love to watch a shootout.

ah cool! I had one last year and it was great.
The best old school trick was two mics on a 12” speaker, one on the cone centre and one on the edge / rim etc often SM57 and MD421 in the last century 👀⚠️😳🤣

Dang it bro, you aimed the mics to your chin instead of your mouth. With super cardioid mics you’ve got to be dead center or they’ll sound low and flat, at times you’d bend down a bit and kind of do it right and the presence would change. Redo! And if you do redo, there’s a typo “Amp settings remain unchanged..” you wrote: unchained..
We demand perfection in this world of audio.

Guitar 906, Drums 421... Snares and Toms sound so much better on a 421. Or at least in my experiences.
Also forgot about Acoustic... Neumann U 87 Ai.. a little spendy though. Currently taking audio engineering in college. We get to play with a ton of mics.

e906 for the win on acoustic and electric guitars and amps at half the price of the MD 421. I own the e609 and the e906, you really should try the ‘warm’ setting on the e906! I also use them to mic percussion. .

I'm not sure. I've used in most livestreams. Check one of those and see if you continue to hear it

Maybe 50% bass roll-off (that was set during actual recording) caused this
