Seriously if Frank swears in this, I think I’m going to laugh, I’ve never heard him swear. I imagine it’s like when my guy tries swear. He’s like “yea… um f that (he uses the really word) “ and it’s so awkward. lol

@@FrankJames2nd lol! I have definitely been known to shout out a fudge or Frak . One time something like “shark” came out when I burned my hand on a baking sheet. I’m not exactly sure what I was trying to say??
I really try not to swear! :)

I feel like I’m going to need this for the next month. I’m starting rehearsals next week and working full-time. I would love to know how you are all doing it. Is it just coffee, is the secret coffee?
Also, I’m loving these chill and conversational videos. You just look really happy.
I should watch the video now :-)

Terrific interview! You guys made me feel so much better about a lot of things! I loved that last part taken from Brian Eno. Pretty cool! I shall try to remember those nuggets and maybe come up with my own. Thanks so much, Frank and Jake! 😊✌️

I really enjoyed this conversation! It's always interesting to hear more about the creative process that happens behind the scenes.
If you like talking about this, it would also be great to hear more about the recurring characters from your sketches (such as Galaxathor, Timmy, Aunt Hilda, etc) and your favorite videos. :)

Speaking about Mr. Beast, I think he really does know how to predictably succeed on UA-cam because it was his special interest until he mastered it. I don't know if it's an INFJ thing, or maybe an ASD thing - obsessing about special interests - but I feel like I have truly mastered certain topics (not youtube) that other people find baffling. Maybe you feel that way about MBTI? Anyway, love you forever!! Love this direction with the second channel!

I also can't take Mr. Beast's advice because he's an "idea creator" and I'm a "relater creator" so I gotta follow Emma Chamberlain, or "old you" 🥰

What a great conversation! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I thank you both. My motto is "make life easy" and when I am stuck I remind myself WHY (whatever it is that I'm trying to accomplish) it is important and from then on I continue unbothered or cease and desist on the spot. I'd say in regards to creative blocks and gimmicks we use to overcome them (w an eye on the public eye/UA-cam sphere that both of you are on) that Occam's razor theory holds water; the simpler the better --everyone happy, no one wastes time and energy. I am not regretting my subscription to your second channel, FJ! Great stuff! ☺👍

Still subscribed since you first recommended him in your video. Just re-watched the Blood Meridian video since you brought it up. Never read it either. He has universal appeal humor being applicable to other circumstances reflecting the human condition which made them funny. Describing that in a very not humorous way since I leave that to you guys!
Jake's "do it bad" invitation was cool to hear. As you said, helpful for breaking through the perfectionism. At least for people like you guys who really care about your work, such as how Jake answered the previous question saying he's always thinking of the audience first where I think it's humility of acknowledging and accepting individual limitations with your unique circumstance, with a bit of a self-defense mechanism in the mix since the internet is a jungle, being artists, in order to influence the hearts and minds of others, you're going to have to communicate yours, making yourself vulnerable...which I think is kinda sweet for the opportunity to learn what people actually think, well, relatively, depending on the site's rules that your reading feedback on, since there's a lot of people trying to get along socially like the ManCarryThing "guy who likes "every type of music"....people like me haha, but when you made your recent video about being yourself...I was thinking about something similar and trying to work on stuff so thanks! And..
Frank, I just wrote about Terminator movies in your recent poll after a discussion with people not talking fondly about them when, the first one might be one of all time favorite movies (and I think about T2 all the time) but just went with what they were saying since I could agree with their different perspective since it was reasonable, while still holding and being honest with mine but keeping it private for sake of harmony since my connection with people was more important to me, and just before seeing it got in a discussion saying how I'd rather think what others would enjoy and look to others to determine what I should enjoy so hope that might helpful if you felt really happy about your art and were confused about the reaction since you guys talked about that. However, my friend up the point that if I do that, I might not actually like it...or maybe it's because my memory stinks. I forget. Point is!
Glad you don't make perfection the enemy of the good! It was awesome to hear you talk about your son and your family is your focus. Was going to write an analogy in your last great video but then wrote too much..which I gotta go so will be quick! After a conversation about the classification of tomato being a fruit or vegetable where my friend just referred to sweet things as fruits because that's how people see it whereas my immediate reaction was defiance wanting to say what's technically true thinking it would pay off long term with what's going on with confusion over language, even though, it would be kind of anti-social and then open the door to a lot other things such as green beans and pumpkins being referred to fruits...and no one will care, and no good will come from it, and then what would be the point if it wasn't helpful? Plus, nutritionists say..a lot of things. haha Anyways, I admire your nutritious diet of humble pie. Thanks guys!

Thanks for having Man Carrying Thing on. This was a pleasant surprise, and I agree with him that you're a great host. You're one of the podcasters where the guest is icing on the cake. I want to write another novel but I gotta go so hope you and your family's week is off to a great start! This rocked.
I'm a fan so I'm looking forward to whatever. I might not like everything but I...trying to think of creators that I liked all their works. Alfred Hitchcock was my favorite director and Jimmy Stewart was my favorite actor and I thought the Birds sucked as a kid and remember ranting about how the Man Who Knew Too Much was....I forget. I just remember ranting and being in a move rental store...but I can't see myself doing that public...I know I didn't like it. Can't say more cuz guess I'm the man who knew too little. haha I gotta go! Take care!

@@FrankJames2nd Thank you, Frank! This was a pleasant surprise. I remember you replying saying he was one of your favorites. Really liked hearing you gentlemen talking about having a more kinda lived in grit to your work since I love that such as your "If things were people" videos, which is still my all time favorite skit series with the one room down to earth handwritten name tags so there's less variables to focus on the substance along with your performances, whimsical colored lighting (it was so wonderful in your "Idioms" video" perfect and how you used it for the smoke for your "If states were people"...the attention to detail along with the parallelism in the thumbnail (my all time favorite thumbnail is still your "If Subjects were people" though, writing, camera work etc (since that stuff matters like that hilarious awesome ENFJ 16 personalties as girlfriends working hard to be appreciated also for her body not just mind...I loved that one so thanks for bringing it up! hahaha That's why I rant against the Matrix but, psst... I actually thought it was a really good movie), so to better process and appreciate savor everything such as...I listened to this through the podcast when I was out but still see you have that green Joker wig wondering what's that for? Is that a teaser for what's to come? Was that purposeful? What's the significance? Don't tell me! I want to keep guessing and get it wrong but do my best trying like trying to remember people's names until I finally give in to not be...well, anymore annoying, and my friend tells me. hahah
Which I think you touched on grittiness in your previous episode with JReg regarding going overboard with refinement where it loses its soul (I'm paraphrasing and maybe reading too into since I do that hahah) which was nuts because I wrote a comment in your "If Idioms Were People" video writing a bunch of stuff you talked about in that interview.

    • @JohnHenrysaysHi
      @JohnHenrysaysHi Рік тому

@@FrankJames2nd Really appreciated you bringing up how you enjoy entertainment that you don't relate to since I'm similar but you've been bringing up things I've had in my mind the day you uploaded the videos and it's not stuff I've been listening going back to your "Guy Who Invented Money" and I think the 16 Personalties Nightmare for the ESTP where you showed the Rice Krispies guys, which isn't out there, especially for the first one (wait, nevermind everyone was talking about that...I loved the warm bread imagery you used! mouth watering hungry thinking about ), but I was writing it in the comments before watching to reply later after on in the day after watching your video, and I've been thinking about the "be yourself" topic, and I remember you made a great video on it when going through your older videos. So, for your more personable videos I really do appreciate you bringing up topics that have been in my mind because it helps for a iron sharpens iron knowing someone else is out there working through something similar.
Have you heard Brothers by Iced Earth? It's cheesy but you might like it. idk.
But, really appreciate you bringing up the don't let our idea of perfection be the enemy of the good. Really loved hearing you talking about here and you kinda brought up in a way on your other channel last year with feeling vs thinking (think maybe in the summer?)...I don't want to get too that because I just want to talk like a human being and not...ok, I really do enjoy type which is why I nerd out about it so much cuz that and comics are my fun escapism fandoms (by escapism...hey, I remember you made a video on that! And looked up an old movie you brought up! But, I mean, it has to be substantial metaphor for reality/history/perception of experience so it's like the "good entertainment" and aww I gotta go, but I had something to bring up back to the first reply I just wrote to you about
that I was writing about it last night with keeping your pivot food in reality and it ties into that simplistic grit because I was going to use Rian Johnson as an example since he made a Breaking Bad episode called the Fly which just had two men in a room acting which I thought was great and use that with...the whole notion apparently with what he did with his Star Wars movie where I haven't seen it because people said it stunk so I don't to waste my time since I already don't like that silly billy modern MCU type humor but apparently he went for a subverting expectations but
not in a way like Jake talked about in serving the audience. It sounded arrogant prideful actually taking his invitation of doing "bad" literally as opposed to trying to do your best to do what your audience wants rather than the pompous "I'm going to give them what they need!" I gotta go! Hope you have a great day! Sorry this is a mess!

Great interview. It's nice to learn about UA-camrs life and how they work. I never heard of Brian Eno's oblique strategies cards, I like the idea, it reminds me of what they do in improvisational theatre when they pull some cards from the bucket and start improvising. thanks for sharing, Frank. When I'm blocked and need some ideas, I like to sit with children and have some conversation, they are very inspiring, or watch some stand up comedy or some improvisational theatre. My work has nothing to do with comedy, but the element of improvisation for some reason activate my brain. Good to hear from you guys, and thanks for your time.

I hope you see this comment because I have some advice I'd like to throw your way 😄
First off, let me say that I've fully enjoyed listening to your recent podcasts. Each episode has been a delight to tune into.
When I watch Man Carrying Thing videos, it feels like scrolling through my Reddit feed, it feels like having a Reddit buddy. Seriously, the way he engages with the current topics and presents them in a funny and sarcastic way, it is hilarious.
Now, here's my suggestion, and you might already be doing this: if you're looking for inspiration to create even more trending videos about MBTI, personality types, and many more niches. I highly recommend immersing yourself in the Reddit world. I believe it could be a fantastic source of inspiration for you. Reddit community can provide you with a pulse on what's currently popular, sparking new ideas and helping you stay ahead of the curve.
    It's just a thought 😃🔦
