Oahu is highly expensive especially downtown. I live on big island and I have airbn . Locals knowhere to shop and to go to have food which is not the same thing as the Tourist areas and definitely not the same price. So come to big island and experience the real Hawaii with the Hawaiian culture and not a big city. We don't wear anything over here except for Cocoa butter on our face in the sun. My yearly home taxes are only 300 a year. There's a lot of free places to go in Hawaii but you have to get out of a big city and see the real culture. Thank you for the beautiful video come over to big island next . When you come here make sure you event the volcanoes and the waterfalls and the luau's et cetera.

Aloha! I just moved back to Hawaii in July after living in LA for 5 years! I missed being home. I love watching travel vlogs of people enjoying the island!
It is expensive to live here, about the same as Los Angeles. Also, you gotta know where to find the deals here, you stayed in the most expensive part of the whole state in town side Waikiki ! Prices are always higher there which is why not many locals are in Waikiki area. the local farmers markets usually have cheaper produce than the grocery stores and if you go outside of town the prices are a little bit better!

Lovely vlog as always. Hawaii looked beautiful. I always hear how expensive Hawaii is so its such a confirmation to hear it from you guys. It seems you were able to find some affordable restaurants after awhile though lol. The genuine chemistry between you and your husband is everything, literally shines through the screen. ❤❤
Food spots are only expensive if you eat in Waikiki lol there's so many affordable food spots on the island. You deff gotta get out of waikiki though
You hear it a lot because people don't want to get out of the tourist area. I'm from a major East Coast city that's just as expensive as Hawaii. People just don't know how to do Hawaii the right way, that's all. Plus, doing activities can add up no matter where you are.

This was a good Vlog. You have to enjoy life and take advantage of the gifts that are given to you. I live in San Antonio and was stationed on O'ahu for 3 yrs. I love going back there to recharge. It's expensive, but you have to get away from downtown and drive the island and see the sites. Like one person said, when you move around like the locals, you find the local spots with the good food and views. I would say visit O'ahu again and see the island before you visit Maui.
I've seen many countries in the world and being Black, I can sit on the beach for so long until I'm good on the sun. With that being said, when I go back to HI, it relaxes me because life slows down, and I get to feel that sea air and listen to the waves crash.

Prices are different in the tourist areas. And if you’re a local, you get the local discount when it comes to lots of things. I have family on different islands. They taught me

I can't believe you want to go back to TEXAS 😕. I could live in Hawaii if it wasn't so expensive. 7-11 didn't have much when I went. The Long Drug Store is always better if your near one. I never did a airbnb, but I'm thinking about it. I stayed at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort before that I once stayed at Hale Koa with family. It honestly wasn't packed in May. The milk prices are ridiculous! I did 3 tours and when it came to food I didn't feel it was more than what I pay in Dallas/DFW at restaurants. But, honestly some days I ate a simple hamburger, fries, beverage which were delicious. I hit up the flavor burst ice cream machine everyday. As you both said Hawaii is very expensive and I didn't purchase anything in the mall, only items from street vendors and I had to negotiate prices. By doing this I purchased many items I wanted. It's best not to be in a group/loud group or have others in your space when negotiating prices otherwise vendors will not lower them. I wish the festival you and your husband went to was available when I went. Aloha steakhouse was a great pick, I had to skip some restaurants because I've been traveling for all of 2022. I would have loved to do a couple of steakhouses, but I plan to go back in a couple of yrs. I recently traveled to Alaska and Florida. I 100% agree with the discussion about money. I saved up for yrs! and stopped doing certain things and hanging with certain people that didn't really matter or help my growth. If you go back to the Tropical Macadamia Nut Farm try the snowball cookies. For anyone watching you can travel like any vlogger. Budget, save, plan, and catch a flight!

Aloha. I enjoyed watching your video. I live here. Born and raised. How we do here on the island is stay out of Waikiki. Lol. Eat out skirts of Waikiki. Many good eats just gotta watch reviews of local people doing food hauls and such. They will tell you where cheap and good eats are. HawaiianTraveler Sean Kaleponi is a good one to watch. It is expensive here. We make do and lots of us work multiple jobs. That being said many are relocating to the mainland to find a better cost of living. Anywho glad you enjoyed it here.

Hey hun glad you enjoyed your time. I live here in Honolulu and trust me hun it's not that expensive. I've been here for two years and Brought a home. You have to explore outside the tourist area, they will definitely bust you over the head with the prices.
For real , plate lunch , gas station sashimi , free hiking and beaches . Just enjoying the sunset is free .

Those Hilton people did same to my friends and i in dubai, they literally invite you to the hotel so they can show you around and then cajole you into paying thousands of dollars on the spot.

LOVE THE Vlog!!!! I love the main island! Yes, it is expensive we stayed for 7 days and spent 10,000 but it was worth it! It was my 2nd time and my hubby's first. I want to go back next year for sure now after seeing the vlog!
Suggest you checkout 7-day interisland cruise on NCLAmerica. Total trip time btwn 10-14 days. Recommend booking trip btwn mid-March to ending Sept.
The main island is big island not oahu. We get this all the time, it seems like it would be the other way around because oahu is so large so Populated.

@ToniaLately That's the budget I put for 2 adults and 3 children....I booked a condo with free parking and has a washer and dryer and of course i would be able to cook breakfast and dinner and eat out for lunch. Hope $10,000 can stretch for the 5 of us for a 7 day trip.

Not me watching 1 year later 😂 I’m born and raised Hawaii and it’s ridiculously expensive even for locals. People have multiple jobs. If they do not make enough…they living off gov welfare OR they actually have generational wealth taking care of them. Waikīkī is way overpriced because it’s a tourist destination. There are so much free and beautiful things to do outside of tourist areas. Also, ono food…”hole in the wall” places that are not as convenient as Waikīkī. It’s just sad to see how people want to visit but the prices are killer. I was hurting for you guys when you said you spent $700 in 2 days💀 So glad you folks had a great time! Enjoyed the video. Super a beautiful video, i was there last year for my birthday. I highly recommend using this travel company called aloha Hawaiian
They plan everything for you from excursions, hotel, meals with some extras if you want to pay for them. All i had to do wake up and everything was already done for me. It helps with having to worry what to do or meals.
