Why not just take the lid off? I painted my Dell and my Thinkpad T480 and I'd advise taking it apart, Also tip for the logos! You can put masking tape over it, then pencil the tape to get the outline. Once you do that just cut the extra tape, when your done painting it's a lot easier. Cool paint job though
