Thank you I removed the relief valve and the pipe that comes out of boiler is kind of rusted and lots of rusted metal and calcium buildup was inside it that i removed i know it wont survive 2 or 3 more valve replacement if i had an extension so that extension stays on and the new relief valve get installed to the extension so is that gonna be ok ??? not affecting the valve pressure or so on

How do I verify the correct pressure for my expansion tank precharge connected to heating boiler

Excellent video. I think my pressure reducing valve is jammed. I let some water in my heater once since the pressure was low. Now it seems like water is constantly flowing in when it’s suppose to be set at 15psi. The relieve valve is set for 30 and my heater gets very close to it so I find myself a couple times a month reliving some of the pressure. Should I be doing this?

No, you shouldn’t need to. The 12 psi from the pressure reducing valve should be the boiler pressure when cold. When hot, it should go a bit higher, but not to 30

What does it mean if my pressure drops rapidly once one of my zones calls for heat?

very informative . my expansion tank is installed with water entering from bottom of tank. upside down . boiler and baseboards all on same ground level. Is this an acceptable practice or unsafe ? . Old heating boiler.

I think the expansion comes as is and can be installed anyway as long as you can check the pressure valve.

if it is a very old expansion tank, they used to be up in ceiling half filled with air but over time air would mix with water and it would fill with water so you had to go through a whole process of letting water out and let some air in. modern tanks have a domed rubber bladder with a bicycle tire valve and are filled with air to 12 psi at factory and the water pushes diaphragm into tank as it expands usually they can be put in whatever way you want on modern ones. most people put them with opening facing up so they don't get an air pocket, but it would be small on a correctly functioning tank diaphragm is right up to opening when new.

My PRV is still blowin off at 30 psi after changing exp tank make up valve tridicator and HW coil on a 2 zone 2 story Burnham oil fired boiler. What am i missing? Could air in system be the cause?

you could start at fill valve manually close valve to system before fill valve drain some water check pressure, so it is down at 12 psi.
then heat up system see if it goes up only a couple pounds and works normally the fill valve probably gets dirt in it and keeps adding water.
air in tank can be checked with pressure gauge and if your pressure gauge says normal 12 to 20 psi range and water leaks from pressure relief it is probably bad.
if you close fill valve and system slowly rises with not being on the hot water supply might be leaking back into system at coil.
or you could be getting to boiling point and pressure spikes as water boils if boiler control runs to hot you have to check each item one at a time.

Hi does the over pressure relieve can be reset orb once it opens you to replace it ` mine opened while i wsa flashing the system and open the W atts and left it open and closed the pipes

Hi John. If the relief valve has opened and is leaking, it must be replaced. If it's an older valve (over a year or so), it should be replaced. Of course, you'll have to remedy whatever caused the over pressure to occur.

Hi i tried to find relief valve for my floor heating radiant { watts regulator model M no 335 size 3/4 inch set 30 lbs BTU per hr rating NB ASME HV 510,000 } I took the valve and checked with plumbing store but could not find the same model can u please let me know what is important to be the same as the description above if i buy one from deferent company or deferent model Thanks

you should be able to replace it with any pressure relief designed for same pressure.

Not a damn thing about checking the expansion tank! Waste of time!
